Gift cards are how I keep track of how much I spend on books a month. If I added $20 to my gift card, once that balance is gone, I am done buying books for the month.

How are you guys this fine Friday morning? I am, of course, running behind schedule as usual. Kind of taking advantage of the last 3 weeks before school starts and sleeping in. I rarely can (cuz my body or the dogs wakes me up) so when it happens, I go with it. Soon enough I will be setting my alarm for 6:30 and rolling out of bed a grumbling mess, complaining that morning is for the birds.
Look at what came in the mail the other day! Tara West sent me the entire Something More series and Divine and Dateless (4 of my all time favorite books)! If you haven’t read these, you should! They are so good. Thank you so much Tara!
Let’s see, for this weekend I think I have absolutely nothing going on. Or at least I am hoping. I love weekends that aren’t already planned out with rushing from here to there and back again.
Last night Nano had kindergarten orientation. He didn’t really want to go but once he got there he was able to walk away from me and go with a teacher to a kindergarten classroom with his cousin and another kid from his preschool while my sister in law and I went and sat through my 4th welcome to the district kindergarten speech. Pretty much the same thing every time. On that note, for the first time since Jordan’s kindergarten orientation I didn’t feel like I was 2 decades older than everyone else in the room. I must not have been the only one sending their youngest child off to kindergarten. At Alyce’s, I felt ancient. It was me in a cafeteria full of people that looked like they weren’t even out of college yet. This time I recognized a lot of other parents because their kids are in my other kids’ grades in school.
It was cool. I didn’t even have any anxiety about going to this. Usually I am fighting a panic attack because I hate going places where I don’t know anyone. My doctor put me on Lexapro (after citalapram, welbutrin, and prozac stopped working). The other ones I have taken I have always had to have a separate medicine to help with anxiety. This one covers everything for me. I finally feel like my old self, the person I was before panic attacks ruled my life 7 years ago. I started EMDR therapy too about the same time my doctor put me on the new antidepressant too. Traditional therapy has never worked for me, probably because I don’t feel comfortable with telling someone my entire life, but my therapist now was Jordan’s therapist for 4 years. I adore her and we have worked through some seriously hard memories for me. I can now think back on these 2 situations with dissolving into a hyperventilating puddle on the floor. I recommend this kind of therapy for anyone who has dealt with trauma in their lives. It is amazing. Here is a link to what it is.
On to what I am reading this weekend –
I started this one last night:
Calum Alexander lived his life one way. With purpose and moderation. Everything was set in place and everything happened according to a plan. That is, until his picture perfect engagement falls apart and his crazy brother Lucas gets him to agree to a night out. Calum is left to fend for himself when Lucas decides to bail and ‘fend for himself’ he will need to. A vivacious and obviously young Livana Payne catches his attention and before he knows what’s going on, they end up talking. By the end of the night, Calum is on fire for the impish girl who’s managed to ignite an inferno within him.
Yes, she’s twelve years younger and the complete opposite of what he’d imagined in his life, but he hungers for her in a way that’s frightening. Drunk and surprisingly out of control, he’s dead set on his need to have her. But the moment he accidentally lets it be known that he’s recently single, Livana is having none of it. There is no way she’s getting involved with a man who just broke up with his fiance. No, they were going to have to wait. Calum’s need for her somehow kept growing. As the days went by and he got to know her more, Livana seemed to be stealing all of his sanity. As much as she wants to wait it quickly becomes obvious to Calum that he’s losing his grip to the monster she’d awakened within him. He’s about to lose control and when he does, he knows there’s going to be nothing gentle about what he’ll end up doing to her.

Blair Walton isn’t your average tattooed children’s librarian. She’s also one half of bestselling romance author, Scarlet Rose. Along with her bff Raine, she spends her nights writing books so steamy, she’s afraid they would shock her Southern conservative grandmother to death, if she knew about them. Blair and Raine keep their smut peddling ways a secret from everyone, including family.
On deadline for their latest book and out of ideas, Raine suggests (demands) that Blair find a guy and “do some research.” It just so happens that Blair has a guy that’s ready and willing. Declan Bennet has all the qualifications: He’s British, looks fabulous in a suit and gets bonus points for being a single dad. But what started out as a research project quickly turns into something much more. Someone else is writing this love story and Blair has completely lost control. But will Declan still feel the same way when he finds out the truth about Blair and her secret motives?
and then –
Madison Spencer is a serious medical student, focused only on work and hiding her beauty and her once-passionate spirit behind a quiet plain-Jane facade. Since she was drugged, stripped, assaulted and photographed by a vengeful ex, she has stayed away from men and kept her heart and body safe. But when heart-stoppingly gorgeous Dr. Liam Mason walks into her world, she knows she’s in trouble. After finding out about her devastating past, Liam offers to bring her back to life with physical passion. Madison thinks she should be repelled, but she’s intrigued and can’t turn him away. Together they explore days and nights of pleasure, and slowly develop into something more than bedmates. Deep inside they each wonder if they’ve found their perfect match. But with Liam’s fear of being dragged down by commitment, and Madison’s fear of being hurt by another man threatening to destroy the world they’ve built together, will they each be strong enough and brave enough to risk their hearts to have it all?
This one will probably take me into next week –

I’m kind of scared to list the books I bought this week. I don’t remember if I went on a spending spree or not. I looked. I didn’t do too bad. 😀
Only 8 books bought this week (thank you to the Amazon gift card I won because I was broke). 🙂 Welcome to Sugartown was actually 99 cents when I grabbed it. I am glad I grabbed it when I did because it went back up to $2.99. So I spent less than $8 this week. Yay me. 😀 You guys know I am never going to be able to read all the books all of these books that I have bought in this lifetime right?
168 books read so far this year. I am closing in on my goal. How are you guys doing on your challenges?
Now you have to tell me what you are reading this weekend? What have you bought? What are you waiting for? Scroll down and leave me a comment and I’ll check them out!
Have a beautiful day!
