CLOSED Kung Zhu!

Congrats to Sonya Allstun! Thank you to everyone who entered!

I’ll admit it. We are a Zhu Zhu pet family! The girls each have one (Kat has 2 counting her Zhu bunny), Christiano has 1, they all have accessories. Jordan wanted one, but I hadn’t gotten him one because they just seemed too young for him. Then they come out with Kung Zhu! Ninja warrior hamsters? Awesome! Jordan loves army guys. He lines them all up on his desk and does various battles that can get really intricate in their design. (I’m so glad he’s still acts like a kid at 11!)

We got a HUGE box filled with Kung Zhu toys! My kids could not wait to dig in but I said they had to wait until we could get together with their cousin Carter because we were sharing with him. Today was that day!

Let me start this out with saying, the little ones couldn’t wait until everything was put together. They started playing as the pieces came out.

It’s a snow day – kinda

The kids still have school, but Pato’s work canceled last night for the first time for snow in as long as I can remember.

Here’s our forecast -

They are calling for 8-14″ of snow. Yippie! Not really. The kids school just sent out an email saying that they are getting out 2 hours early, which to me makes more sense than Pato’s work closing all day, but hey, if someone’s wife is more paranoid about their husband driving in the snow than I am, more power to them. I’d rather Pato be safe than in a ditch. If it was his other boss, they’d be going, but Carlos is in Mexico and I guess the other manager’s wife was calling all day yesterday warning her husband about how much snow we were getting with each news update. I am kinda wondering if she has just come up from Mexico and hasn’t experienced snow yet. Usually the men after making it through their first winter up here have the motto of the mailman when it comes to working, neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow type of thing. Now that I want any of them driving me around in the snow, but that has nothing to do with snow. Pato and his friends are scary drivers. Or maybe I’m just paranoid now that I have kids. (I’ll be honest, it’s the second one, I’m a much more cautious driver since I had children.)

An update on my post yesterday about the ZhuZhu pets. I was watching the Today Show and they said that the testing on Mr Squiggles was not reliable and it looks like Mr Squiggles will be exonerated. A quote from that page -

The US Toy Industry Association had also criticized GoodGuide’s reliance on XRF readings, saying: “False results are not unusual using XRF technology, so decisions should not be based simply on these methods.”

and another article has Toys R Us saying

Retailer Toys “R” Us Inc. said test reports “clearly indicate that the Zhu Zhu Pets product meets all federal safety requirements, as well as safety requirements in other countries.”

It looks like the CSPC will be running more tests, but so far it’s looking good for Mr Squiggles. Mr Squiggles, you can come home now. Alyce misses you. But she “yost” you. She can’t remember where she put you. If you could just moo once, I know we could figure out where you are hiding.

In other news, I’m waiting on a shipment of seeds from Ebay. I’m a plant nut. I have a plant stand in front of my sliding glass door and Christiano and Alyce decided it would be fun to play with my plants one day while I was taking a shower. (This is why I only shower when Pato is home usually.) They destroyed all of my plants but 1. *sniff sniff* Some of those plants I have had for 7 years. I bid on a bunch of seeds. Now, I’m not sure what I’m doing to do with all of them. I don’t have room, but I couldn’t help myself. I’m getting seeds for China Doll, Philodendron Selloum, Dwarf Coffee, Ponytail Palm, WILD OLIVE (Olea europaea) Fruit Bonsai, FIBRE OPTIC Scirpus cernuus Isolepis cernua, Toffee Twist Carex flagellifera Copper, HENNA Lawsonia inermis, and TEA TREE (Melaleuca alternifolia) plants. Plus, I still have bids on Asparagus Fern and Coleus Rainbow Mix. What am I going to do with all of those? It wouldn’t be such a problem, but they all need to be put up high I’ve now learned.

I’ve never grown plants from seeds. I’ve always grown them from shoots off of another plants. Anyone have any tips on growing these so they thrive and not die? Do I need to do the old bean thing? Putting them in plastic bags with wet paper towels until they start getting roots? Or do I just plant them in dirt?

I’m most excited about the Tea Tree plant. We use Tea Tree oil for EVERYTHING around here. Not that I’m going to be getting oil out of the plant, but it just feels good to have one in the house. I need to get a new aloe plant too. And a snake plant (mother in law’s tongue). That was my oldest plant. Destroyed.

Cyber Monday

and I be broke. LOL Spent all my money in the brick and mortar stores over the weekend. So sad. No more shopping for me.

I stayed up late last night wrapping Miss Alyce’s presents. All of the presents for her birthday and Christmas were in the garage. I found the big boxes easily, but I had to search forever to get through to the smaller presents that were out there for her. Smart me, I was wearing shorts and it’s finally starting to feel like December in Iowa. Finally got what I thought was all of them in the house. Wrapped them and realized the rock and rolling keyboard was in the garage still. *sigh* Back out I went, think I put pants on? No, went back out in shorts. I’m so smart.

So, this is what she’s getting for her birthday -

The Barbie Power Wheels – which I noticed said up to 36 months. Oops. It also says up to 40 lbs and Alyce is only 30 lbs, so I’m hoping it will be ok.

You & Me Mommy Hold Me – which makes tons of noise, without being told too, and keeps freaking out in the wrapping paper.

Another baby, cuz the child loves babies. Lots. It’s her favorite. She has 4 strollers if that tells you anything.

Fridge Phonics, cuz it’s cute and educational

cuz her mama has played piano her whole life and we don’t have room for a real piano.

And the Little People House. She’s got the barn, the castle, the bus, the airplane, something else. She loves her people. Find my people mama! LOL Her cake is going to be Little People.

Last night I sent Pato to get the Little People to put on the cake and he came home with these -

Dude, they are making me a farm scene cake. Do they look like the Little People we have? Did I say honey bring home retro little people? You sent me a 3 text messages, a picture mail, and called me twice about the wrapping paper, might you have tried something with the little people pack other than saying it was the 50th anniversary ones?

So, those are going back and he needs to get the Little People, like say the ones up above with the house. The ones in her movie. The cute little kids ones. The ones she loves. Not the grown up ones. What was he thinking???

My plans for today are to get the rest of the stuff done to get the place ready for her birthday party tomorrow. And sometime, I’d really like to take a shower. Christiano is teething and I couldn’t put him down much to take one yesterday. He’s got one of his top ones barely poking through for a total of 3 teeth at 9 months. He’ll be all excited when I let him eat something other than smooshed up food when he has chompers to chew them. He is not big on the baby food right now. When I put the spoon to his mouth he smacks it away and sends the baby food flying all over the kitchen. I’ve been having to cut everything we eat up into teeny tiny bits that he proceeds to drop down his chest and into his diaper. You never know what you’ll find in his diaper, but it usually makes me laugh. Note the word usually. Sometimes it makes me want to cry when I open his diaper. Alyce’s too for that matter.

So, my girls want ZhuZhu pets for Christmas. If you know what a ZhuZhu pet is, you probably have little kids and you probably know that they are a “hot toy” for Christmas and that they are impossible to find.

There was a thread started at DST about ZhuZhu pets. And Holley from Savings Diner posted that she was having a giveaway on her blog for one. I got her newsletter yesterday and found out that I won this -

Cool! One of my girls will be happy. We decided last night that if we can find a second one before Christmas that they will both get them for Christmas, if not, Alyce will get this one for her birthday on December 2. Hopefully by Kat’s birthday in April they will be back in supply in the stores.

So, thank you Holley so much!

So, has everyone seen New Moon yet? Ok, it’s only been out since Thursday night, you may not have seen it. I won’t give a huge spoiler about it. I went with my mom, sister, SIL, and my niece to the midnight showing Thursday night. I almost didn’t get to go. Pato’s boss decided that was the night they were all going to get down and dirty and clean the floor with acid. When they do that, Pato doesn’t get home until 2 AM. He said to his boss, I can’t. I have to be home by 11 with the kids. His boss said, why? Pato said because Heather is going to watch a movie with her family. His boss said, whatever, get the floor done. Pato said, I’m not joking, I told her I’d be home in time. She’s been planning this for months. His boss, she’s been planning to go to a movie for months? Then there was a phrase in Spanish that basically means, don’t be dramatic. He got me on the phone while his boss was standing there and told me that they wanted him to clean the floor that night, and hearing me go off from where his boss was standing must have been the turning point in that conversation because Pato was home by 11. LOL I said, it’s a good thing because if you’d been late he would have needed some Blue Cross Blue Shield NC insurance for medical injuries. Ok, I really didn’t say that. ROFL But, I was thinking if he kept up this whole Carlos isn’t letting me leave, I have to stay to help clean the floor or I’ll get fired, someone was going to get hurt. Either Carlos for making him do it or Pato for not having juevos and staying to do it.

I loved the movie. I always do. I think it’s my whole Robert Pattinson cougar fantasy thing. (Me being the cougar. ROFL) The only thing that drives me nuts in both movies so far is when Kristen Stewart is upset, or serious, or anything like that, her eye fluttering thing. I’ve never seen anyone’s eyes flutter like that when they are upset, but I guess if it works for her, it works for her.

I don’t know if this is a spoiler or not because I’m not going to tell you anything about the storyline really, but I’ll put it in white just in case, just mouse over it to read it. Unless you already read what I thought at DST. It’s the same thing.

The ending was too abrupt for me after reading the books. It didn’t end that quickly in the book. It was boom, ending, done. huh?

And hair and make up was 1000 times better in this one. I’m thinking the budget was better this time and they could afford a decent make up artist who paid attention. Did you notice in Twilight that when Robert Pattinson has his back to the camera, or it’s a side view, that his neck and ears are red while his face is white? They didn’t cover all of him with the make up. It was really obvious in one of the cafeteria scenes in Twilight. Peter Facinelli looked FABULOUS this time. That man is so nice to look at when he’s not done up like Carlisle Cullen and in the first movie there was something about his hair, whether it be the style or the shade of blonde, he didn’t come off as the drop dead gorgeous doctor with movie star looks that every woman drooled over in the book. This time they fixed that and he looked really good. I’ve been thinking about cutting my hair like Alice’s in this movie since I first saw pictures of how it was months ago. Seeing it in action in the movie, I think I’m completely sold on that hair style. So so so cute. I think I’m going to do it. I’m tired of Christiano pulling my hair out.

Come to think of it, that’s kind of similar to my hairstyle I had in January this year, but not totally. So cute!

See, if you read that, not to bad of a spoiler, but I know some people don’t want to know anything before they see the movie. Better to be safe than sorry!

Kids are still sick. I’m still coughing. Hopefully we’ll get over this before we are supposed to leave for Ohio on Tuesday. I’m not taking a sick 9 month old and 2 year old in the car on a 13 hour road trip if they aren’t feel good still.
