Someone Has Some Explaining To Do

Posted by Heather Manning On December - 12 - 2011

Looking around

…. anyone?

tapping microphone

… is this thing on?

Oh, must be me.

It has been crazy around here.

My shoulder is making me lazy.

Results of the MRI came back –

non-healing (or non union – not sure which I heard) fracture to my clavicle, bursitis, something is up with the tendons, and damage to the AC joint?  I don’t remember exactly what happened to the AC joint.

Verdict – shoulder rehabilitation therapy.

That sounds painful.

I also have an appointment with an ortho guy on December 19 to get an expert’s thoughts on whether I should have surgery.  I start physical therapy on Wednesday.

Holding my arms up to type is torture on that shoulder.

Use my laptop you say?  I would but it’s had a blue screen of death for months.  I’m taking it to a friend tomorrow to see if they can get it working.  I have tried saving Windows XP professional (the operating system for that laptop) to a dvd, cd, and thumb drive.  The laptop won’t boot to any of them to reinstall it.

And I hate blogging from my phone and/or iPod.

Add 3 kids in 3 different schools bringing home all kinds of gunk and I have had 4 kids sick non-stop.  One gets healthy, the other one gets sick, they get healthy, 2 more start vomiting, rinse and repeat.

I even missed bloggin on Leecy’s birthday.

Happy belated blog birthday Leecy.  She turned 5 on Dec 2.

I promise, I wished her a happy birthday multiple times on her birthday in person.  And she had a smashing birthday party.

I’d do the pics but I am at my limit right now with my arm and blogging this and the previous post.  I’ll try to do better, I promise.

It just burns to do this for long.

Have a great day!

Soccer Pics

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 5 - 2011

Job 1:21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return.  The Lord gave, the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

I have been meaning to get these up for awhile now and, well, let’s be honest – I have a horrible memory. :)

We had soccer pictures a couple of weeks ago for all 3 kids.  I never buy the pictures. I usually snap an end of season picture of the teams and have them printed out.  99% of the time, I like my own pictures better.

These won’t be hanging anywhere.

I think someone put their finger on my lens.

Blurry blurry blurry.

Oh well, we’ll still look at them.

Their my kids pictures.

September12My team – I’m in the green shirt, Leecy is standing beside me.

Aren’t they cute?

September13

Leecy

September14

Katiana’s team – Kat is standing on the far right, our right.

September15

Jordan’s team, he’s standing on the far right.

Both Jordan and Kat’s team are filled with kids they have played with for years.  It’s nice that they try to keep the kids on the same team each year.  They grow with each other.  I can remember when some of the kids on Jordan’s team were 6 and 7.  Crazy how time flies.  I’d say that about Kat’s team, but they are 7 now. :)

Am I coaching next season so that Leecy gets that same chance?  Absolutely!  I don’t know why I didn’t do this before.  Too much fun working with those little girls!

Last night’s practice was a blast.

Katiana and Nano were both sick yesterday with fevers.  Pato came home from work to stay with them while I ran Jordan and Leecy to practice.

Seriously, 4 year olds playing soccer?  Too much fun!  Though, I had 2 girls that had decided they were done with soccer last night.  S was mad.  Her mom said, she assumed it was at her.  Either way, I could not talk her into playing but eventually, she came over.  E told me she decided she hated soccer. :( So sad!  I talked her into kicking the ball to the goal as hard as she could and she decided she liked soccer again.

We did some drills then we scrimmaged.  Then my co-coach’s daughter had to go to the bathroom and the rest of the girls decided to sit and chat.  I could not get more than 3 of them out on the field at once.

Practice over.

:)

Then I went and sat and enjoyed the beautiful weather by myself as I watched Jordan scrimmage his cousin Taylor’s team.

I don’t get to do that often.

Normally I am running after Christiano.

It was a fabulous time.

Came home, Pato made pizza.

Then I went to bed.

Christiano still sounds horrible this morning, but Katiana is off to school.

Have a wonderful day!

Take This Cold And Shove It

Posted by Heather Manning On April - 9 - 2011

After Kat’s birthday party the other day, Nano’s nose started running.  Then Alyce.  Then me.  Yesterday we were all completely miserable, lazing the day away on the couch.  Running for Kleenexes until we ran out, then substituting with napkins (which BTW, do not feel good on a red sore nose).  Christiano and I both started running fevers.  It was a joy, let me tell you.

I got up this morning and I can almost breathe.  And I don’t feel quite like I was run over by a Mack truck.

That is good because today is the day Katiana gets to have her slumber party.  I was really worried that we were all going to be sick still.

I’m still not sure how many girls are coming.  Out of 11 that were invited, I know 4 can’t come, 2 can come and haven’t heard from the other 5.  I’m not sure if they will show up or maybe their invite got lost.

On top of being sick, I’ve been scrubbing my carpet over and over.

Jasper came.

Remember, I was going to adopt another Chinese Crested about 1 1/2 months ago?

The lady was sick and couldn’t get him to me.  (She had to drive to KC where her home is, she goes to school here at ISU.)

I adopted Suki, the little chihuahua mix, because she needed a home.

Then I got the call that Jasper was almost here.

He’s a boy.

When he gets excited, he pees.

Clean that up.

I didn’t know what food he was on.  He’s been eating the girls’ dog food, which I have been assured is one of the best you can get.

His stomach is not quite used to that.

I’ve been cleaning that up since he got here too.

Now, what happens when one dog goes in the house?

The other 2 think they can also.

Clean that up also.

I’ve just left my carpet steam cleaner out.

It’s easier that way.

I need kennels to crate them in until we get this under control and everyone is re-house-trained.

I wasn’t sure we were going to be able to keep Jasper.

He bit Pato.

In his defense, he was a tad sexually frustrated.

See, I have an appointment to get Suki spayed the 11th.

She was in heat when I got her.

She also was in a diaper as soon as we had a male dog in the house.

Jasper was trying to hump the diaper.

One time he got the diaper off and I interrupted the act.  He hung his head in shame and his boy parts dragged on the floor.  Alyce was very concerned that something was wrong with Jasper’s wee wee.

That night he bit Pato he’d been told no about 1000 times and to get away from Suki’s toosh.

Pato tried to pick him up to put him in Jordan’s room for the night.  Jasper didn’t want to sleep in Jordan’s room.  He yelped when Pato touched him and bit.

Pato said that’s his one chance.  No more biting.

Jasper is much more content now that Suki is out of heat and he has a bed on the floor next to my bed, next to the girls’ beds.  Though he completely stressed  Junie out when he decided he liked her bed the best.

Junie retaliated after I got Jasper his own bed.  She slept in it.  Jasper got the pink satin, fur trimmed bed.

Take that mr man dog.

So, now I know the whole world is full of dogs that need adopted.  I also know that I am at my limit.  Though my heart strings get tugged every time I hear of a dog that needs a new home, and I’m worried all the backyard breeders will adopt the purebred ones and put them through what Junie went through, I can’t save them all on my own.

3 little dogs is enough for our family.

3 little dogs and 7 little birds is enough for our family.

I am really lucky that Pato likes animals as much as I do.  The kids are lucky that I like animals as much as I do because I get help maybe once every other day taking the dogs out to pee.

Have a great day!

I’ve got to get stuff ready for Kat’s soccer game and slumber party.

It’s Hard To Find Something To Write About

Posted by Heather Manning On February - 12 - 2011

right now.

Between the kids fighting, Nano is cranky because he still isn’t feeling 100%, not having our own place yet……it’s hard to write.  I don’t want to write a negative post all the time.  I don’t mind venting when something bad is going on, but to vent for 2 weeks straight would not be cool.  How many times do you want to hear about Nano not letting me put him down?  Or about Jordan and Kat fighting.  Or about my headache that won’t go away.  I want something happy.

Hopefully today will be the turning point.  We didn’t get to go look at mobile homes yesterday because Pato had to be at work at 3 and he got back from getting the furniture right before he had to leave.  The one I saw that looked like it would fit us didn’t look that…as my ex-husband would say – woopie woopie, but beggar’s can’t be choosers right?  If it fits us we can always fix it up.

My brother is trying to decide if he is going to take the counter offer on  a house that he wants to buy.  If he does the closing date would be March 29.  Not that I was planning on staying here that long.  :)

I posted an ad on Craig’s list looking for a mobile home in my kids’ district, but no responses yet.  Of course, I posted it later last night.  One can always hope.

Mom, I may have to move in with you and dad.

That would not make Pato happy.  He loves my parents, but that’s another half an hour added to his half an hour drive already.  Yeah, he’d be thriled.  He’d probably end up staying at his friends’ houses.

Crud, I wasn’t going to be negative.

K – I don’t need any more clothes donations for the kids.  Lynn graciously brought me a box of clothes for Nano the other day.  I appreciate it so much!  So does Nano.  He was digging through the pajamas as soon as you left and took about 30 minutes to settle on which pair he wanted to wear.  He decided on Diego……which was his first choice, but he had to go through all of them anyway.  I kept asking you said Diego?  you want Diego right?  No. Pulled out another pair.  Yook mama!  Yes honey, camo!  Do you want to wear that?  no.  Pulled out another pair…and so on until he said, I wear Diego.

Thank you!

I think I shall go get Pato out of bed so we can get going.  Maybe I should do something with my hair first.  It’s kind of scary.  Slept on it wet.  I think I jumped in the shower at 2 in the morning after we watched Paranormal Activity 2. My SIL hung a severed head on the shower head while I took Junie out to pee.   I was almost expecting something like that so I sat it on the toilet for my brother in the morning and hopped in the shower.  I just about screamed when I got out of the shower, forgetting the severed head was on the toilet.  Nothing like Halloween decorations jumping out at you when it’s 2 and you just watched a freaky movie.  This morning when I got up there was another severed head hanging off the attic handle.

Shelley has a never ending supply of severed heads, fingers, arms, etc.  She loves to decorate for holidays.

Now I am off to get Pato up and do something with my crazy hair.

Have a great day!

A Little Bit Of Valentine’s Day Fun For The Kids

Posted by Heather Manning On February - 7 - 2011

CIMG0050Life must go on, right?  Jordan and Kat both need Valentine’s Day boxes for school on the tenth so Shelley and I went shopping and got some things to put them together.  Shelley is so much more creative than I am.  I usually cover a cereal box in computer paper and let them decorate that.

We got gift boxes and taped them together.  We also got all the stickers you can see on their boxes and shelley had chalk and other fun things.

Jordan refused to make his.  He said a grocery bag would work for him.  My 12 year old niece Taylor made his.  She still wants to do more so the boxes in the picture are incomplete.  They were waiting for the chalk to settle after they sprayed hairspray over them to make it stick.  Tonight they are going to do stamps and paint and all that fun stuff.  Alyce doesn’t have a school to take hers to so I’ll have the kids each put a Valentine in her box before she goes to school.  I just thought it would be fun for her to make one also. The one in the back with the heart cut out is my nephew Carter’s.

So, when it rains it pours right?  I took Nano to the doctor on Saturday.  He has an ear infection and spots on his throat.  He says his head hurts.  He’s burning up all the time.  He most likely has RSV also because my 1 year old niece has it. Poor babies.

Last night, Jordan got up at 3 in the morning crying that his ear was hurting and he has stuff draining out of it.  He’s off to the doctor today.

Did I share that Pato blew a tire driving home Friday night?

Nothing else can happen for awhile.  I’m feeling slightly stressed out.  Keep that smile pasted on and I’ll make it through this.

A lot of people have sent me clothes donations.  I have to say, the girls and Jordan have enough to get by.  Nano doesn’t have very man, so those asking for suggestions, he’s who I need.  If you have a few 3T pajamas laying around that yours has outgrown, he could use them.  Especially since he keeps throwing up on his right now.  Pajamas, sweatpants, sweatshirts, warm stuff.

He could also use a pair of shoes (size 9 – toddler).  He living in his snow boots and slippers right now.  They don’t have to be funky cool shoes, just a pair of tennis shoes.

Again, thank you everyone for thoughts, prayers, donations, everything I appreciate everyone so much!!

Project 365 Day 13, 14, 15, 17

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 17 - 2011

Yep, it’s true.  I missed day 16 already.  I know.  holding my head in shame

But we must move on –

Day 13

Project365-2011-13

I title this one – why can’t my kids use the front door.  By way of the shoveled sidewalk.  Instead they walk through the snow to the sliding glass door.

Day 14

You might have seen this one already.  If you read this post yesterday.

Day 15

Project365-2011-15

TGI Fridays all iced over on Saturday

Day 17

Project365-2011-17

Jesus accompanied by some bird seed and feathers.  Sorry!

This has a story behind it.  My mom bought one for herself and one for my grandpa.  She put a note on the bottom of it saying it was to go to me eventually.  When he passed the note remained and it came to me.  I cherish it.  Revelation 3:20

No School Today

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 17 - 2011

This is the first time I remember our district having Martin Luther King Jr day off.  I’ve always wondered why schools around us had it off but we didn’t.

Things that make you go hmmmmm.

Jordan is at his dad’s still.  I miss him.

Katiana has cabin fever and is whiny and driving me bug wacky.

Alyce is still sleeping for some strange reason.

Christiano is walking around needing to have his nose wiped every 2 minutes.

I just took a nice dose of Robitussin.  I want to know after all these years why they can’t make it taste better.  I mean really if you throw it up after you take it does it do you any good?

It’s all I had in my cupboard.  I’ve taken the rest of my cold and cough medicine and if I don’t ration it out slowly I’ll use up the rest of my rescue inhaler.

Yeah, someone should probably go to the dr.

You know me though.  I’ll wait, hoping it will go away.  I’ll realize that it won’t when I am so sick that I should probably be hospitalized.  It’s a circle with me.  It’s a mom thing, right?

I am behind on posting our Project 365 and I’m hoping when I pull the pictures off my camera that I can remember which was which and whose was whose.

I do know we missed yesterday.  Do I get a pass because I was sick?

Katiana got up at midnight last night to go to the bathroom and tell me that we didn’t take our P365 pictures.  Oh well, it’s P364 now, right?  And it was midnight.  Officially not yesterday anymore.

Oh yeah, I had a hair disaster too over the weekend.

I went to Wal-Mart Saturday to get bird food and to see if they had my color in stock.  They’ve not had it the last 3 times I’ve checked and I’m starting to get a sneaking suspicion that it was discontinued.

I decided I was going to try red with blonde chunks this time.

So did not work.

I don’t think I left the bleach in long enough.

I had white blonde where my roots were then it went down to a gold, then an orange, then a burgundy.  It was FABULOUS I tell you.  So fabulous my husband started to crack up when he saw me.

Great.

Yesterday I bundled my hacking coughing self up and went back and got black (which I’ve done many many times and is Pato’s favorite) and fuscia (not so much his favorite).

I was going to fix that mess.

I was really nervous when the front part that was all those funky shades started turning green.

Green?  Totally not cool.

It ended up ok.  It’s black, the fuscia didn’t show up well.

It pretty much looks like my normal reddish/burgundy that I wear most of the time.

I’m going to get the fuscia to show up.

When my scalp feels normal again.

I’m probably lucky I still have hair left.

My ex-SIL said the same thing and reminded me that she has a salon.

I was worried that she would be too busy because she works a full time job on top of that.

All I know is that I should have known better than to try bleach on my own.  It never ever turns out well.

Ever.

201

Remember this picture.

Yeah, never turns out well.

When I go to do what I actually want done, I will call in the reinforcements, you know, people who actually know what they are doing.

I’m good with one color by myself in the bathroom.

Funky stuff I should never ever do myself.

Have a great day!

I Am Sick You Are Sick He Is Sick We All Are Sick

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 15 - 2011

Yep.  That’s how it is at my house right now.

I didn’t get to blog yesterday because honestly, I was feeling like warmed over dog doo doo.  For real.  Still am.

This is how my week has been.

Jordan is on antibiotics and home from school Tuesday.

Katiana was home sick Thursday.

I got it the day before yesterday and still felt like crud yesterday, worse today.

Christiano started having some gunk come out of his eye yesterday afternoon and by last night his eye was starting to swell.  I was trying to put him to bed and he was throwing himself back and forth moaning and groaning and rubbing his eye and crying.  I gave him ibuprofen which he got mad about and spit all over.  Totally not Nano behavior.  It’s Kat I have trouble getting medicine down.  Not him.  I was going to wait until today to take him to the doctor but within an hour his eye was twice the size it was and he was begging to go to the dr.  Seriously.  My 23 month old kept saying doctor.  When I said do you want to go to the doctor?  He said yes.  Got off the bed and went and found his boots.  He was so miserable.

Could you say no to that face?

I decided to take him because if it had swelled that quickly in 1 hour, what was it going to look like in the morning?

We went to the ER at the new hospital by us.  My lord, so fast.  Between check in and the doctor diagnosing?  7 minutes.  No joke.  I had to wait longer for registration than the doctor.

He has pink eye, obviously and periorbital cellulitis.  It’s usually caused by a minor trauma to the tissue around the eye (none) or a sinus infection (not surprising, we are all sick).  The dr told me the same thing that the site did, it’s a good thing I brought him in because it’s rare, but there can be some serious complications with it.  She wants him rechecked by his doctor first thing Monday.  Aye aye captain. She also mentioned to the kids that they need to wash their really good or this will spread through all of them like wild fires.  Lovely.  Pass the germ x.

There he is when we left the hospital.  You can’t see how red his eye really was.  But at least he’d stop crying and let me clean it finally.  I’m calling this my project 365 picture for yesterday.  I took another one but I don’t like it.

That little duck cracks me up.  You know my husband’s nickname is Pato.  That means duck in Spanish.  When he got that Webkinz I said, es el Pato.  Now he calls it his daddy ducky.  And he carries it when he is upset.

Last night Christiano was up rolling and turning and crying most of the night.  Pato and I took turns rocking him.  He finally fell into a deep sleep at 6.  He got up at 10 and his eye looks a little better after 2 doses of antibiotics and 1 dose of the eye drops.  I just gave him his morning dose of oral antibiotics and put the eye drops in his eye which he totally doesn’t appreciate it.

I’ve been dosing him with Tylenol and ibuprofen for the pain every 4-6 and 6-8 hours.

I’m tired.

And still coughing up a lung.

Oh well, this too shall pass.  Right?

Have a great day!
