I am just going to get straight to the point. I loved loved LOVED Standing By. I think I might have even liked this one more than Getting By, and I adored that book.
Oh to have a Knight brother in your life.
Getting By was Jake’s story, Standing By is Mitch’s (Jake’s twin brother). My next book boyfriend? Why yes, yes he is.
Hayley owns a bakery called Pieces Of Heaven. She’s known Mitch a bit in the past and always thought he was an arrogant a$$, which he totally is arrogant in a completely sexy I know who I am kind of way.
When Mitch buys her brother’s restaurant, which she supplies the desserts for (and that accounts for 50% of her income), it means that her and Mitch will have to work together.
These two are so perfect together. This book has so much humor and wit, I was a laughing out loud. It wasn’t a figurative LOL that you type to tell your friend, cute story, it was a literal giggle here and there as I was reading. Especially … how do I describe this scene without actually describing this scene? You’ll know it when you to it. I’ll just say there is a scene near the end where Haley has to reprimand the Knight brothers for something that happened, then her father was there, and then … I was just cracking up.
The whole book is like that, fast paced (To the point you don’t even realize how much time has gone by as you are reading. I hit 85% last night and looked at the clock and it was 1:30. My alarm was set to go off at 6:30. Oops.), perfectly written with amazing characters (Even the characters I hated were written so well for the parts they played. I wanted to reach through the book and start hair pulling.) that you fall in love with from the start and who make you smile, and a couple more men in this family to get settled down (which hopefully means more books with Liam and Cade’s stories).
That was possibly the longest run on sentence I have ever wrote, but you shall forgive me because I am still on a book high and totally smitten with Mitch and Hayley. Right?
Amazing book! 5 stars! I’d give it more if I had the choice on Amazon and Goodreads. Love Claudia Y. Burgoa so much! If you haven’t read her, your really should!
Born on the mystical day of October 30th in the not so mystical lands of Mexico City, Claudia grew up with a childhood that resembled a caffeine-injected soap opera. Seventeen years ago she ventured to the lands of her techie husband—a.k.a. the U.S.—with their offspring to start a new adventure. She now lives in Colorado working as a CFO for a small IT company, managing her household filled with three confused dogs, said nerd husband, two daughters wrought with fandoms and a son who thinks he’s the boss of the house. To survive she works continually to find purpose for the voices flitting through her head, plus she consumes high quantities of chocolate to keep the last threads of sanity intact.
