My Thoughts

I love this series so hard.  I won the first book, Crane, in a blog giveaway, and I was hooked.  I was so excited to see Raven coming out.  It was one of those I must get it the day it is released, make room on my calendar for release day so I can read it right away things.

Raven was just as amazing as Crane!  I love this set of characters: Ireland, Noah, Rip, and now Ridley.  Stacey Rourke had me laughing out loud while reading this book just because the snark between Noah and Ireland and Rip’s grasp on sarcasm was hilarious.  The wit these characters show is absolutely perfect.

In Raven we start out with Ireland, Rip, and Noah going off to Manhattan to get to the bottom of her tattoo and the curse, try to find a way to get The Horseman out of her.  While they are investigating where the tattoo came from they come across Ridley who unintentionally joins their group as he deals with the works of Poe.

We go back and forth between now and Poe’s time and unravel what has happened that now brings us to where we are currently, dealing with a Godzilla like amount of destruction and a need to stop it.

Stacey Rourke is such an incredibly talent as an author.  She will have you searching your mind for which work of Poe is being referenced, in fact she might make you want to go back and pick up some of his poems.  I was just looking it up on Amazon and found Edgar Allan Poe: Complete Tales & Poems, I think I’m going to buy that now and remind myself why I loved yet was freaked out by so much of his work.  I don’t think I ever fully appreciated him when I was a student, but this book makes me want to go back and relive all of those.

I am going to say it again, absolutely amazing book.  I cannot wait for the next release from Stacey Rourke.   She has risen to the top of my favorite author list (ignore the fact that they are in alphabetical order) and is one that I have to follow every release of now.

Thank you so much for my copy of Raven!

What it's about

The Horseman is unending,
his presence shan’t lessen.

Now, Ireland Crane, reeling from a break-up and seeking a fresh start, must rely on the newly awakened Rip Van Winkle to discover the key to channeling the darkness swirling within her. Bodies are piling high and Ireland is the only one that can save Sleepy Hollow by embracing her own damning curse.
