Gift cards are how I keep track of how much I spend on books a month. If I added $20 to my gift card, once that balance is gone, I am done buying books for the month.

I hope you are having a wonderful start to your Thanksgiving!  Know what I am thankful for today beyond my family, friends, shelter, etc?  Breathing and modern medicine.  I mentioned in my last post that I had been sick.  It is one of the main reasons I haven’t been blogging.  I’ve been working, trying to finish my Nanowrimo on time, and then sleeping.

Tuesday I finally went to the doctor again and she said my lungs were horrible and that she was treating me as having full blown pneumonia.   The radiologist agreed after reading my x-rays.  Since Tuesday I have been on a second round of antibiotics, doxycycline (after Zithromax failed), a 15 day round of prednisone (after the short burst failed), symbicort (a steroid inhaler), albuterol breathing treatments every 4 hours, and promethazine-codeine cough medicine.  Last night I slept 7 hours in a row, which was amazing, before I woke up at 9 coughing and needing another breathing treatment.  It is so good to feel the progress in my airway loosening.  I was getting up every hour or so coughing so hard that my ribs felt like they were going to crack.

I’m grateful that I am feeling like I am on the mend a bit because she said if I failed this second round of antibiotics that I would be admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics.  As much as I need a break to just rest and take care of me for once, being in the hospital on Thanksgiving and through the holidays is not what I consider a good break.

I’m going to sign off and go take the breathing treatment I have been putting off because I hate the way it makes me shake, I just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving!  Travel safely.

While you are spending time with your family, please think of the protestors holding down the fort at Standing Rock, Sacred Stone, and other places.  I found a wishlist of items on Amazon that the people at Sacred Stone are needing.  Here is a full list of items the Sacred Stone came is looking for.   Here is information on how you can help the people at Standing Rock.   It seems a little bit hypocritical to be posting this info in a Thanksgiving post, but what better day to help them, to give to them?

I am also grateful for the veterans who will be deploying to Standing Rock on December 4 to stand with the tribes, to help protect them.  Use the information  in the Standing Rock link to sign the petition and call the White House.   I am tired of big companies trouncing all over normal people, I don’t want the pipeline going under the river because spills happen.  I feel like most of us find out about this stuff after it has already started.  I can only imagine how the Native Americans feel with how this is affecting them and their lands.
