If you’ve been following my blog this week you know that Christiano and Alyce have been sick. Here’s what’s been going on.
Tuesday – started throwing up w/diarrhea
Thursday – stopped throwing up, still had diarrhea, rash above upper lip. Called the doctor about him, mentioned that Alyce had been coughing that day really bad and a rash on her cheek. Just watch both of them.
Friday – both the same
Saturday – seemed like they were improving, that evening everything came back full force and then some. Christiano was coughing just like Alyce on top of the other stuff. Called the nurse line. They told me to watch them overnight, keep them hyrdated, take them in to the doctor first thing in the morning.
Sunday – Same. Went to the walk in. Our Dr was on. Alyce had an ear infection. Nothing for Christiano except for stool samples.
Monday – Got Christiano’s stool samples. That was a blast. Diarrhea seems to be easing.
Tuesday – Christiano doesn’t have diarrhea anymore, loose stool and not as frequent. Alyce now has the diarrhea and is throwing up, not eating. I’m pretty sure that’s because of her amoxicillan, but call the nurse to double check. Yep. Just watch her for dehydration.
Tuesday night – Christiano is up screaming ALL NIGHT LONG. Won’t nurse. Isn’t happy with us even standing up walking the floor with him. Finally decide that Pato is taking him to the ER.
Pato just got back with Christiano and he has a raging ear infection.
And the doctor just called with results of 2 of his stool samples. Waiting on the third. He’s got some bacteria in his colon. I don’t remember which. She said he could have picked it up anywhere. I just told Pato we need to buy antibacterial wipes to wipe down shopping cart handles, high chairs in restaurants, etc. Piece of advice if you don’t do it. Do it. None of my kids have ever gotten sick from that before, but now we know there is always a first time.
The nurse didn’t think the medication for that bacteria in the colon would help the ear infection so I’m waiting to see what the doctor wants for that one.
I’m going to go back to bed. I think I got 1 and 1/2 hours total and that wasn’t straight. Christiano is sleeping now. I’ll take advantage of it.
ETA – I could cry. Christiano has C.Diff which is actually caused by antibiotics. That means he needs to get off his meds for his ear because it could make it worse. And severe cases of C.Diff can be really dangerous. Meaning, we can’t let the antibiotic cause the bacteria in his colon to grow out of control. It’s already bad enough he has to have medicine to get it under control. Ok, he’s up and throwing himself all over me. Going to snuggle in bed with him. Keep him in your prayers.
