Gift cards are how I keep track of how much I spend on books a month. If I added $20 to my gift card, once that balance is gone, I am done buying books for the month.

How was your fourth of July? We had such a blast! Our dance studio decided on Friday that we were going to do it and without a float I volunteered my truck for the littles to sit on. We decked it out in WDA colors and little logos (Alyce drew the logos while I cut them out with an Exacto knife. I made quite the mess.) With all of the people who were on vacation for the fourth, I think we had a good turnout and everyone who came had so much fun.
Jordan or Pato was supposed to drive my truck, but Pato took off with Nano to go watch the parade with my brother and his family and Jordan complained so much about being nervous driving in a parade that I booted him out of my truck and over to my brother and drove myself instead of walking (totally could have used the step credit for the day).
As much as I lectured the kids to not throw out all of their candy at the beginning of the parade, I was the one without any candy half way through the route. I had bought $60 worth for myself and my girls to throw and theirs lasted longer than mine.
Can you blame me? I saw all these little toddlers and wanted to make sure they got candy, and then there were the older kids who were waving so politely. Next year I just need to buy more candy.
These are the people we spend most of our evenings and weekends with. Their moms are my best friends. I couldn’t have found a better way to spend the fourth than spending it with all of our friends and my family.
That’s Alyce in the middle of that picture. I didn’t think she was going to make it at first. It was so hot and she started to feel like she was going to get sick. There’s a reason there was a cooler of water in the backseat of my truck. I was so worried about her getting dehydrated. It happens so easily and out of nowhere. After sitting in the air conditioning of the truck for a bit and guzzling bottles of water, she felt good enough to get out and walk for a bit.
I hope we start to do this every year. It was so much!
Nano is in the gray. He had fun hanging out with his cousin and his friends. He didn’t want to ride in the parade at all. He wanted candy.
Then we grilled out with my brother and the kids swam for hours.
Then we went back out with to the fireworks show with dance friends and my family.
All in all, it was such a fabulous day. I hope yours was as well!
Have a wonderful day!
