My poor little nephew

Posted by Heather On August - 27 - 2007

He needs some prayers from you all.  I’m going to assume that no news over night was good news though!

This is Carter on Saturday night at my parents’ house.  Chubby lil bubba.  :o )  He is not quite 6 months old yet.  He’ll be 6 months on the 6th of September.  Alyce and him are 3 months apart in age.

Yesterday, I went to get my phone off of my charger – for some reason, it only vibrates on my charger, so I don’t hear it ring.  I had gotten 2 calls from my brother and 1 from my mom right in a row.  I thought that was funny because of how it was all within a few minutes of each other.  You know how that panic starts to build.  I listened to my message from my mom, then called her and told her I was on my way.

My sister in law was coming down the stairs with Carter – you can probably see where this is going – and she fell.  She tried to catch herself with her right hand, and when she saw that she couldn’t, she curled around him as best as she could and fell.  Carter hit his head really hard, and was unconscious.   He was out for close to 10 minutes.  Shelley picked him up and my brother said he has never heard her scream the way she was screaming for him.  He took Carter and he was just limp.  No response.  So, they called 911.  He came to right as the ambulance got there and then went right back out on the way to the hospital.

When I got there, he was so sweet.  They had given him tylenol, and Shelley was half laying on the cot with him.  He was laying on his back on her tummy just sucking away on his binkie.  And when I went over and started talking to him, I got a couple of little smiles out of him from behind the binkie.  Poor thing, all hooked up to those machines.  I sat on the cot with them, and Alyce thought that she would help her poor dear cousin out and relieve him of his blood pressure cuff.  LOL  Those 2 are so fun together.  They both think the other one is their toy.  It’s sweet.

They came down and got him for an x-ray.  And when they got back, I took the kids home.  It was an awfully small room for my 3, my niece, Carter, my mom, my dad, and Shelley, and Josh.  Alyce was getting cranky, needed a nap, just wasn’t working out.  My mom called me when I got here and said that the xray showed a suspicious line and they were taking him in for a cat scan.

That came back that he does have a skull fracture.   BUT, no bleeding or bruising of the brain at that point Thank God.  They are keeping him to watch him and make sure he is going to be ok.  I just want to love the little bubba.  So, just send up some thoughts and prayers that he continues to heal with no side problems coming out of it, if you would please?

Last I heard from Josh he was finally allowed to have a bottle.  Poor kid was STARVING.  They let him have some sugar water with endorphins to calm him down before his cat scan, and then a little pedialite later to see if he could keep it down.  (Poor guy spits up so much without a head injury), and I think at 6 or 7 (his last bottle was at 9 in the morning) they let him have some enfamil.

I was going to show you a bunch of pics from the campfire at my parents house Saturday, but I only got 3 others ready before that happened to Carter, so I’ll just show you his best friend, Alyce.  :o )

Happy Baby!

Anybody gonna get me out of this thing?

This one the sun was right behind her and I couldn’t get a good shot without a sun ray kind of lighting up the picture, but this is her 2nd time to swing in the big kids swing, and can you tell she loves it?

That’s it from me!  I’ll keep you updated on Carter as I get more info.  Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, I know you guys, and I know you always go above and beyond when things like this happen in easing my mind, so thank you in advance.  (((Hugs)))

Pics From The First Day

Posted by Heather On August - 23 - 2007

Well, the first day of school is done and over with and in 6 minutes I have to wake him up for the second day!  :o )  He said he had a great day, except he was missing his purple colored pencil (which could very well be missing, his sister opened up the box, but I thought I got all of them back in the back) and he had to borrow from someone else.  Oops!

Standing out front

Acting like he’s leaving me – um, where you going Jordan?  The car is the other way.

Growing up to fast on me.  :o (

At the school

Lining Up

He was so happy to see his friends again!  And a few of them are in his class this year.  Yippie for him!  Good luck to his teacher!  LOL

We’ve got soccer practice tonight again.  I’m so glad soccer has started again.  Jordan hasn’t wanted to get up and go all summer.  I would send him outside and he’d be back in 5 minutes later complaining it was too hot.  His coach will get him running like he needs to!  :o

Pato got him his new cleats last night.  And they were fighting when they got back.  Jordan wanted these ones that look like patent leather, which I had told him he could have.  But, Mr soccer player Pato told him no, that they would get scratched up and look like crap later.  So he got him a pair that wasn’t shiny, but looked the same other than that, and it wasn’t what Jordan wanted.  Plus he was tired from the first day and tears followed.

All righty, something was up with my store yesterday.  Only half of my stuff was on sale.  It all went on sale late in the afternoon, but I had them extend the sale to today.  Now, the other half isn’t on sale.  LOL  So, the sale is extended for today, I’m sure someone will have my store up and going right here shortly.  And if you missed out yesterday, everything over 99 cents, personal and commercial use is still on sale for 25% off.  I’ll update here when it is turned on all the way.

*ETA:  My store has been fixed and everything is on sale like it should be!  Shop away!  LOL*

Have a great day!

Pics From The Fair

Posted by Heather On August - 16 - 2007

We went to the Iowa State Fair yesterday and had a blast!  Well, til the very end, when Jordan was standing too close to the dunk booth, and one of the baseballs that thrown very fast, bounced off the net and whacked Jordan upside the head.  :o (  I didn’t see it happen, I was checking on the baby, and next thing I knew, Jordan was on the ground.  He just dropped from the pain.  But, we checked him over, and thought he was going to live – though it would hurt, so we went home after that.

But, we had fun.  I got my annual fudge that I get.  It’s from this place called Suzette homemade candies.  I got Vanilla Carmel Pecan and I think it’s called Penucci Fudge.  They said that one was made out of brown sugar.  It’s yummy!  I swear, that’s the only reason I go to the fair.  LOL

Jordan got to ride some big rides.  For the first time, he was just tall enough.  I don’t know how he did it, but he loves the round and round, make mom want puke kind of rides.  He loved the tilt-a-whirl.  And the one that is like the silly silo at Adventureland.

Now, I wasn’t inside of this one, and it was closed so I couldn’t see it, but from watching the Silly Silo, the whole point is to be plastered against the wall as this ride spins you around and around and around, letting centrifugal force do it’s job, and the floor drops out leaving you hanging on the wall, suspended in the air, supported by nothing but, well… physics.  LOL  Lucky for him, nobody puked.  I’ve seen that happen on the Silly Silo, quite entertaining from above, not quite so, from inside.

He also loved this ride where you lay on stomach, are strapped in, and then go round and round, and up high and down low, like you are flying.  It actually looked kind of fun.

I got to ride the first ride I’ve ridden since, oh maybe I was 18.  I mean, a good big person ride.  Not the merry go round I go on every year to make sure Katiana doesn’t fall off.  (Which she adored for the first year this year – first time she said she wanted to go, got on, and stayed on a horse, rather then screaming when it started and lunging into my arms.  I loved watching her giggle!)  I rode Big Ben.  Here’s a neat pic of it..  Now, it’s not the biggest fastest ride ever built, but for my first time in 14 years?  It’ll do.  It’s a 205 foot shot straight up, really – good thing the guy took my flip flops off – fast.  Then you go up and down kind of slow, just to get that feeling like you are going a little to fast in your car and you go over a wicked bump in your tummy.  Then, you go up to the very top, and they let you sit there.  You get to hang out and watch the grandstands and whatever is happening in there.  I got to watch some of the tractor pull, not my idea of excitement, but ok.  Then, when you are finally comfortable at the top, they drop you down, free falling – woo oo woo oo.  LOL  It was so much stinking fun!

And, I got to meet Rudy Giuliani when we first got there.  Well, not like a sit down have a conversation meet, but a 2 second, hi!  shake hands, move on to the next person meeting.  I don’t know who I’m voting for in the primaries next year, but I was still all excited to meet him.  :o

All righty!  Time for the pictures!

Rudy Giuliani signing autographs.

Alyce enjoying her fan.

Katiana waiting for the Merry Go round to start.  She was so excited!  Wrinkling up her little nose.  LOL

Still waiting for it to go.

And we are off!

And this my friends, is Kitty – the python.  She only weighs 25 lbs.  LOL  I was close enough.

Didn’t get formal introductions on this one, but did find out this one weighs about 40 lbs.

Daddy eventually had her covered in tattoos.  Now, to get them off.

Jordan’s first tattoo of the day.

Pato and Alyce – who hasn’t left yet, BTW, something is wrong with his car and he tried to take to a mechanice yesterday before the fair, but, no one that he went to works on the kind of shocks he has.  So, now it’s back to waiting.

Gotta have a picture with the terrible’s casino man.  LOL  Yep, that’s me.

Jordan in a fire truck.

Listening for his instructions.

The girls.  Me thinks Alyce had enough.  LOL

Yep, she did have enough.  Too bad you can’t see the other side of her arms and her legs.  She had 12 tattoos on all together.  Thanks Pato!

Modeling my new sunglasses at home.  Do I look like a superstar?  LMAO  Self portrait.

So, that was our fun day!

Feeding The Swans & Humpday!

Posted by Heather On August - 8 - 2007

The other day, let see, not yesterday, um…Monday!  Yep, Monday it was, I took the kids to feed the ducks and swans.

There’s this place here in West Des Moines.  It’s a cemetary yes, but in the middle of it is a little pond.  And for as many years as I can remember they bring in 2 swans and some ducks.  I remember when I was little, and I’m talking 5 or younger, my mom would take us there to feed the ducks.  The swans have always been named Jack and Jill.  Now, I’m not sure about the life span of a swan – but, I’m 32, and if I’ve been going there since I was at least 5 if not younger, that means those swans are at least 27 years old?  Just kidding!  I know for a fact that they have had to get new swans over the years.  Someone stole them once.  How do you steal two swans out of a pond?  But, I get off topic as usual.  :o

Anyways, now that I have children of my own, I take them there every once in awhile, just like my mama did with us!  Monday when I went, I took my camera.  Ya know the Amazing DigiScrap Race has a challenge this week to do a 10 picture layout.  I don’t think I have 10 pics I like of the same theme to use.  LOL  So, I took about 50 pictures, thinking out of 50, there would have to be a few that I liked?  You’d think at least 10.

Here’s a few of the ones I snapped.

Ok, this is either Jack or Jill?  No idea which one.  Anyone know how to tell a girl swan from a boy swan?  LOL

Alyce’s first trip to see the swans.  I put her brake on for the pic, and prayed to God it didn’t pick this moment in time to fail.  LOL  (Jordan has his foot under one of the back wheels, just in case).  Like her mohawk?  *sigh* someday she’ll grow more hair.  – In the meantime, see the post below for pics of her with hair.  ROFL

These swans come so close to you.  I had to keep telling to Katiana to throw the bread, she was holding it out, like – here swanny, here swanny.  I don’t know if swans would snap her little fingers to get the bread or not, but they kept coming up like they would take it out of her fingers.  Katiana, Katiana, KATIANA, step away from the edge and THROW the bread, Kat, Throw the bread, Katiana, throw – you get the point.

Meet Jack and Jill – the bravest swans they have had at this little pond yet.  No fear of humans.  I suppose they get used to the bread.

Hanging with the swans, and a couple of ducks.

Some friends that came out for the party.

Enjoying her siblings and the ducks.  I could breathe easier when she wasn’t right by the edge.  She loved it!  A little mad when we left.  Didn’t want back in her car seat.  eh, who can blame her?

I’d like to thank Doro (Doreen Stolz) for her  Frame Collection (July 2007).  I got these with my $10 GC from Elemental Scraps.  It was the last goodie we got for completing last weeks challenge.  I LOVE these frames!  I think I’ll get a LOT of use out of them.

Digital-Scrapbooking.Org is having a Designer Call right now.  We are looking for a few EXCLUSIVE designers.  And may I say, I love my store!  So, if you are interested, please contact Bunny.  Tell her that Heather (she might be extra nice to me if you do LOL) told you about it!

All righty people, it’s HUMPDAY!  And that means a freebie!  These will only be up for a short time, cuz I’m going to be working on something else that will go in the store with these, so snag them while you can!

I’d like to thank Sarah Grimwood for use of her Floralicious Overlays.  My goodness, I saw them, and HAD to have them.

When you get done downloading, make sure you go check out the rest of the humpday hunnies to see what they have for you today!

Kristine, Bunny, Joy, Lynn, Teriann

Don’t give the direct link out to anyone.  Give them the link to our blogs so they can come snag the goodies on their own.

Also, I’m going to be cleaning out my 4shared account this weekend, it’s getting full – to the point where if I don’t clean it out, I won’t have any room to give you more goodies.  So, search through my blog, see what you haven’t gotten and download it now.

Don’t forget that my grab bag, Designers’ Delight is still up for grabs!  Lots of stuff in there for $8!  Can’t beat that!

Leave some love if you download the papers please.

A Fun Website & A Freebie at SYAO

Posted by Heather On July - 20 - 2007

Lexi blogged about this fun website yesterday over at Scrap Your Art Out, so I had to go check it out!

The website is called Picnik.  And for those of us who aren’t that jazzy at snazzing up all those pics we take, this is PERFECT!  I took 3 of the pictures that I blogged about yesterday (scroll down to see the originals) and played with them for like 2 minutes each, tops at that site.  Check them out!

The one above I didn’t post yesterday, it was really blurry and I wanted to fix it before I posted it, but with the other effects applied, I kind of like it blurry.

So, I say, go check out Lexi’s review, and then check out the site, it was a lot of fun to play with!

I have a freebie posted at Scrap Your Art Out today!

Nothing has the jaggeds in it like it shows in the preview, I promise.  It just showed up when I downsized the image from Fotki.

Download at SYAO.

I’m a Goofball and lots of stuff + New Products!

Posted by Heather On July - 19 - 2007

Ok, so I went 5 days without internet right, called Qwest 3 times complaining that my return label wasn’t here yet.  Went to the library trying to upload my products.  Went up to borrow my neighbor’s modem.  It wouldn’t work either.  I was flipping out, Pato came over and said, um, that’s the wrong cord.  GRRRR.  I had the phone cord plugged in the whole time, not the cord that goes from the wall to the modem.  I am so mad at myself.

First, I have my first challenge done for the Amazing DigiScrap Race, check it out here.

So, the wedding was a blast!  Absolutely Beautiful!  My sister was a gorgeous bride!  I’ll share a few pics over the next few days.  I have so many between the wedding and the bachelorette party.

Miss Alyce, pretty as a princess.  Her dress was just beautiful!

My other little princess, Katiana – this is what she does when I say smile.

Do you know what shape this dress was in by the time we were done?  She had the bottom hem torn off, and the top layer over the skirt was separated from the dress.  I have no idea what she did.

Mr Snazzy Jordan.  He cleans up well!  I wanted to cry when I saw him all dressed up.  My little boy looked like a little man.  And he thought he was THE MAN!  Let me tell you, “Mom, I danced with 8 girls!”

Oops, mom caught me ripping apart her bouquet.

hmmmm, now what to do?

My baby sister, the beautiful bride.  *sniff*  Wasn’t she gorgeous?

My daddy walking her down the aisle.  Can I tell you, there were stairs?  I was so scared I would trip in my dress and heels.

A Manning family tradition:  Wheeling the bride around in a wheel barrow.  I think my Uncle Jim put some extra squeak in this one.  Can you tell Abby was thrilled?  The groom (Justin) cleans up nice too, doesn’t he?

Pato, lugging our daughter around like a sack of potatos.  LOL

My mom and dad boogying away.

Tomorrow, I’ll try to get up some pics of me, my mom, and more of my sis.

I’ve got some new products up in the store that I finished while I thought I had no internet.  LOL
