He needs some prayers from you all. I’m going to assume that no news over night was good news though!
This is Carter on Saturday night at my parents’ house. Chubby lil bubba.
) He is not quite 6 months old yet. He’ll be 6 months on the 6th of September. Alyce and him are 3 months apart in age.
Yesterday, I went to get my phone off of my charger – for some reason, it only vibrates on my charger, so I don’t hear it ring. I had gotten 2 calls from my brother and 1 from my mom right in a row. I thought that was funny because of how it was all within a few minutes of each other. You know how that panic starts to build. I listened to my message from my mom, then called her and told her I was on my way.
My sister in law was coming down the stairs with Carter – you can probably see where this is going – and she fell. She tried to catch herself with her right hand, and when she saw that she couldn’t, she curled around him as best as she could and fell. Carter hit his head really hard, and was unconscious. He was out for close to 10 minutes. Shelley picked him up and my brother said he has never heard her scream the way she was screaming for him. He took Carter and he was just limp. No response. So, they called 911. He came to right as the ambulance got there and then went right back out on the way to the hospital.
When I got there, he was so sweet. They had given him tylenol, and Shelley was half laying on the cot with him. He was laying on his back on her tummy just sucking away on his binkie. And when I went over and started talking to him, I got a couple of little smiles out of him from behind the binkie. Poor thing, all hooked up to those machines. I sat on the cot with them, and Alyce thought that she would help her poor dear cousin out and relieve him of his blood pressure cuff. LOL Those 2 are so fun together. They both think the other one is their toy. It’s sweet.
They came down and got him for an x-ray. And when they got back, I took the kids home. It was an awfully small room for my 3, my niece, Carter, my mom, my dad, and Shelley, and Josh. Alyce was getting cranky, needed a nap, just wasn’t working out. My mom called me when I got here and said that the xray showed a suspicious line and they were taking him in for a cat scan.
That came back that he does have a skull fracture. BUT, no bleeding or bruising of the brain at that point Thank God. They are keeping him to watch him and make sure he is going to be ok. I just want to love the little bubba. So, just send up some thoughts and prayers that he continues to heal with no side problems coming out of it, if you would please?
Last I heard from Josh he was finally allowed to have a bottle. Poor kid was STARVING. They let him have some sugar water with endorphins to calm him down before his cat scan, and then a little pedialite later to see if he could keep it down. (Poor guy spits up so much without a head injury), and I think at 6 or 7 (his last bottle was at 9 in the morning) they let him have some enfamil.
I was going to show you a bunch of pics from the campfire at my parents house Saturday, but I only got 3 others ready before that happened to Carter, so I’ll just show you his best friend, Alyce.
)
Happy Baby!
Anybody gonna get me out of this thing?
This one the sun was right behind her and I couldn’t get a good shot without a sun ray kind of lighting up the picture, but this is her 2nd time to swing in the big kids swing, and can you tell she loves it?
That’s it from me! I’ll keep you updated on Carter as I get more info. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, I know you guys, and I know you always go above and beyond when things like this happen in easing my mind, so thank you in advance. (((Hugs)))
