Amber Teething Relief Necklace

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 6 - 2010

Now, I want you to hear me out before you give me the same look of disbelief that I got from the nurse who commented on Christiano’s necklace when we took Kat to the ER for her ear infection.

I thought it was adorable when I saw it, and I held out hope that it would ease the teething a little.  I was nervous it wouldn’t be as good as the reviews that I read said it would be.  This thing works.  And it works awesome!

Let me introduce you to the SuperMama Amber Teething Pain Relief necklace.  You’ve probably seen it in some of the pictures that I have taken of Nano lately.  It was gorgeous in my Project 365 Day 6 picture.  If you cruise through my pictures from the last couple of weeks, he has it on. Know why?  Cuz it works.  I noticed a huge difference in his attitude a few hours after I put it on him (He was breaking in tooth number 3 on top – number 5 total the day I got it.)  I only take it off of him now to sleep and to shower.  (I’m home all day with him, he’s never left unsupervised with it on.)

December09-40

Is that not perfect?  I probably would even put it on him even if it didn’t work, but it’s made such a huge difference, I am not taking it off until his last tooth comes in – when is that?  At like 10?  We might need a bigger size by then.

Let me let SuperMama explain it to you because they go into how it works so much better than I could.

How does SuperMama necklace sooth teething pain? SuperMama necklace is made of the highest Baltic amber quality. European babies have worn necklaces of pure Baltic amber, prized for their beauty and soothing qualities for babies and adults. Worn against the skin, the Baltic amber of the Teething Necklace releases natural oils with proven analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects that soothe teething pain and reduce drooling. Each pure, natural Baltic amber bead of your Teething Necklace is individually knotted for safety and durability, creating a cherished gift of lasting beauty and pain relief for any baby you love. The necklace is not intended for chewing or biting.
Advantages:

  • Naturally prevents and soothes teething pain
  • Analgesic & anti-inflammatory effects
  • 100% Natural Baltic Amber
  • Releases natural oils with proven calming, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects when worn against the skin
  • Singularly knotted beads and safe screw clasp for baby safety
  • Not intended for chewing or biting
  • Sold in European pharmacies for generations

Ok, so I told you that it changed Christiano’s demeanor in a few hours.  Do you want to know how much?  So much so that he had a fourth tooth come in on top (6th tooth total now) and I didn’t even notice it until it was half way in and I could really see it.  No crying.  No crankiness.  No nada.  I was in shock.  My son does not do teething well. (before the teething necklace) Before he was cranky, irritable, and didn’t feel good, plus, he wanted everyone to know it and feel the same way.  He also drooled a gallon of drool in an hour (I might be exaggerating, but then again, I might not be, it was a lot.)  I didn’t even notice any extra drool with that tooth that was sneaking in.  That’s normally the first sign that he has a tooth coming in.

Plus, and are you ready for this?  Remember how often I was complaining about Christiano biting me while he was nursing?  Every time I nursed him he bit me, multiple times.  I thought he was just having fun at my expense.  I didn’t relate the fact that he’s been teething constantly and he was probably biting down to make himself feel better.  Since he’s had the SuperMama Teething Pain Relief Necklace he hasn’t bit me once.  Serious.  Look back through my posts.  Not one complaint.  Ask Pato.  He hasn’t heard a OUCH! No Nano! coming from the bedroom.

He even asked me about it the other day.  Commented on the fact that he finally noticed Christiano’s new tooth and that he hadn’t acted like it bothered him.  I said, it was the necklace.  He looked at it and nodded.  Pato’s not a man of many words, that meant he agreed with me.

You can get the necklace for $24.99 on SuperMamaOnline.com. If you think that is pricey, think about the fact that I have not had to give Christiano any Tylenol, any teething tablets, no teething gel (BTW – have you put that stuff on your own gums?  Try it sometime, I did.  It burns.) anything at all for his teething.  The necklace completely worked,  he didn’t show any symptoms of teething so I didn’t have to break out the pain relief for him.  I wish I’d had this from the start of him getting teeth, because even with the other products, he was still cranky, still wanted to be held all the time, still just wanted to lay in bed next to me.  He’s been perfectly normal, perfectly content Christian, which again, is why I almost completely missed him getting a new tooth.

If you are a mom to a teether, if you’re a new mom, if you know a new mom or a mom-to-be, this is what I recommend you get.  It is now on my list of baby shower presents that must be bought.  (I buy necessary things that I worry others will forget for shower presents, you know tylenol, gas drops, that good stuff.)  This is on my necessary list.

It comes in the mixed amber that Christiano has and honey, a beautiful lighter colored necklace.

While you’re at SuperMama join SuperMama club! You could win one of the Amber Teething Necklaces! Plus they send out coupons and it’s free.

Can you tell I love it? I wouldn’t give it up.

The SuperMama amber teething pain relief necklace gets a HUGE

for completely taking the pain out of teething for Christiano, that made him happy, which really made me happy!

Ringley

Posted by Heather Manning On December - 30 - 2009

When you have a teether (the baby, not the toys) have you ever found a cold wet washcloth to be helpful?

That’s Christiano’s teether of choice.  He loves cold, wet, terry cloth on his gums.

I was really stoked when I saw the Ringley just because of that fact.

We’ve been using it wet.  And thank goodness this thing is so easy to take apart to clean.  It just velcros around the wooden ring.  Take it off, hand wash it in the sink (we use Melaleuca laundry detergent), then hang it up to dry. We wash it at bedtime and it’s dry by the morning when he’s ready for it again.

December09-41

Nano has it in his hand. (Not cooperating for pictures, come on Nano, chew on the teether, reach for the camera, no, don’t chew on my camera, the Ringley, son, the Ringley.)  He likes to throw it around when it’s dry, he thinks it’s funny.  When it’s wet and cold he’s chewing on it like there’s no tomorrow.

ringley

We received the top one with the knots, and I’m really glad we did because he goes straight to the knots when he’s chewing on it.  Gives him something he can gnaw on. I think they fit in between his two teeth on top that have come through (yeah, my son gets his top side teeth in first, NOW he’s working on the 2 front top teeth.)

From Ringley’s site -

RiNGLEY is a natural teether that combines two efficient teething tools: untreated Canadian Maple and 100% organic cotton terrycloth. These materials provide two very different textures that enable children to satisfy their teething needs.
RiNGLEY’s design allows your child to easily grip the ring and cloth. RiNGLEY can be used wet or dry and easily reaches around a child’s gums and teeth.
RiNGLEY was designed with a child’s development in mind. Since infants learn through tactile stimulus, touching and putting things in their mouths, the need for a product made without harmful chemicals and dyes is important. RiNGLEY is an organic and natural toy for babies to chew and teethe on.
RiNGLEY comes in four styles: knotted, straight, junior and ball.
Handmade in Toronto, Canada.

I’m really glad we got to try this. And I’m so happy to see there are more products out there that we can feel good about our babies putting in their mouths.  Because if your baby is anything like mine (and every other one on the planet), there isn’t anything they won’t put in their mouth.

I think I’m going to get a different style for Cambria, my neice.  Can you believe she is almost 4 months?  Those teeth will start bothering her soon and I think my SIL will like this as much as I do.  They are reasonably priced and I think they are so cute.  I’m thinking the ball one is the one I want to get her.

If you want to get your little one a Ringley, you can get it at quite a few stores online.  And there are also stores that sell them all over.  Enter your postal code to find one for you.

Ringley gets a

thumbsupfor being a beautiful toy that I feel safe giving to Christiano to chew on while his gums are bothering him.

Teething Bling

Posted by Heather Manning On December - 10 - 2009

So cool! I got another package in the mail yesterday and I had no idea what it would be. I opened it up and was excited to see a Smart Mom necklace and bracelet teething jewelry.

Let me show you their pictures because they are so much better than the ones I got of my wiggly worm.

I received the Jade Donut Shaped Pendent.

and the Mother of Pearl Bangle.

Now, let me tell you what life has been like with Christiano. He got those bottom 2 teeth in awhile ago and since then he’s been working on 2 top ones. His 3rd and 4th teeth. Not the top two middle ones, he’s getting in the 2 on either of side of the middle ones. I thought he was getting in his vampire teeth until they finally broke through enough for me to see which ones they were. Unless he was going to have a very large gap, there was no way they were his middle top teeth. He has been cranky, unbearable, impossible to live with, keeps me up all night, it’s been a pleasant few weeks.

He is chewing on anything he can get his gums on. Any time he comes at me with his mouth I flinch because I’m not sure if he’s going to kiss me, give me a zubert, or bite me. I’ve been bit so many times nursing these past couple of weeks. It hurts.

I saw this jewelry and really wanted to test it out on him. Now, I don’t have a picture of me wearing the necklace while he’s chewing on it because I couldn’t get a picture from that angle that wasn’t blurry. So, I took it off and let him chew on it for the picture. He knew what to do with these as soon as he saw them. Straight into his mouth and the giggles that followed. I really wish I had recorded it. It must have felt good because he doesn’t giggle like that very often. (He giggles a lot, just not one continuous giggle while he’s playing with something.)

December09-19

Don’t mind our Christmas tree ornament box. Or what we use as a box. The tree was going up while he was enjoying the necklace.

December09-18

Here he is with the bangle yesterday morning. He was so funny! When he was crawling, he was carrying it in his mouth like a dog would carry a bone.

The test came when we went to Walmart last night to get new ornaments because half of mine have mysteriously disappeared. The boys and I went off to Walmart while Pato took the girls grocery shopping. Christiano was sleeping in the car and woke up on our way in. I put him in the cart and he was fussing. I let him lean his head on my chest while I was walking and then he noticed the necklace. Straight in his mouth it went and he chewed on it contentedly while we were shopping.

So, this gets a huge old

thumbsup

from me for keeping a tired baby content in the store! Plus it kept him busy while they were putting the ornaments on the tree. It didn’t stop him from dismantling everything within his reach as soon as he noticed the pretty stuff on the tree though. I don’t think anything could have helped that.
And here’s our tree finally put up -
December09-20
Yep, it’s kind of unbalanced. I don’t know why it might be top heavy with ornaments. Looking at my 9 month old tree destroyer. (See that picture to the left and on top? That’s my mom’s graduation picture. You can’t see it, but my dad’s air force picture is in the same frame with it.)
We keep talking about getting a new tree. I just can’t bring myself to part with it. I’ve had it for 8 years or so. It’s the first thing I bought for Jordan and myself after my divorce from his dad. (We moved out in November.) I wasn’t about to not have a tree for my then 18 month old at Christmas time, and I worked really hard to be able to get that for him. It was symbol to me of our independence. Our breaking free of a bad environment. Hard to replace that with a new one, no matter how many needles fall off of it.
My kids are out of school again today. The roads are not passable in the outlying areas of our school district. I guess 14.5″ of snow packs quite the punch. I need to go out and take pictures of it. But that would mean stomping through thigh high snow drifts to show you the best shots. Getting my nerve up. We’ll do that later today.

I think I found a nursing life saver

Posted by Heather Manning On December - 9 - 2009

I got a package yesterday during our storm of the decade as the newscasters are calling it right now.  I was kind of surprised to see Mr UPS man out and about, but we were all happy to see him.  Ok, some happier than others since the youngest two were the ones who got the contents of the box.

BlaBla had sent Alyce and Christiano two of the adorable Boogaloo dolls.  So cute!  They reminded me of one of the old monkey sock puppets for some reason, but they aren’t a puppet at all.  They are these really cute little dolls that are made in Peru by local artisans who use hand picked cotton.  They are just really cute!

Alyce got the Peeko and Christiano got the Inoo-LaLa. (They have so many styles of these dolls, minis and original size, take a peak!)  Alyce is my one to show excitement before anyone else.  I handed it to her and she gasped, mama!  I “yuv” it!  Christiano is one who takes a little longer to warm up.  I handed him his and he promptly crawled away from it.  But, he got involved as you’ll see!

December09-12

Alyce loving hers.

December09-14

Big hugs!  Oh wait, that was teletubbies.

December09-13

Nano checking his out

December09-17

He actually carried it around the house with him.  Kinda made me happy.  We’ve been looking for something that he would latch onto and sleep with rather than needing me right next to him.  Maybe this is it?  Here’s hoping!

So, how is this a nursing lifesaver?  Christiano has taken to kneading like a kitten when he’s nursing.  He gets his nails into it.  I have to keep them cut really really short because he has hurt me before doing it.

See those ears on the top of the Boogaloo’s head?  When he was nursing, he was holding on to that and swing it all over the place.  It gave him something to do with his hands rather than bruise me.  It was the first time I could let out that breath I was holding while nursing in a couple of months.

And, then after he was done nursing, look what happened -

December09-16

He feel asleep with Inoo-LaLa.  That was so darn cute!

Alyce has been carrying hers around also, and she slept with hers too.  She has lots of dolls, but nothing that is really soft enough to sleep with.  The dolls that she goes to sleep with usually end up on the floor, but this was tucked up in her arms this morning when I checked on her.

Just for the nursing help alone (not to mention the cuteness and that both the kids love them to pieces!), I’m going to have to give this one a huge

thumbsup December09-15

Now, I’m going to have to dig us out of the 14.5″ of snow we got last night.  Actually, Pato is going to have to dig us out.  He’s off work again.  They closed for the snow.  I want to go to the store and get some new Christmas ornaments.  Our stash gets smaller and smaller every year.  We have the tree up now, just need to decorate.

Have a wonderful warm day!  Hope you aren’t too snowed in!  And if you like giveaways, don’t forget to check out the ones I’ve posted on my other blog – Giveaway Chick.
