Someone Has Some Explaining To Do

Posted by Heather Manning On December - 12 - 2011

Looking around

…. anyone?

tapping microphone

… is this thing on?

Oh, must be me.

It has been crazy around here.

My shoulder is making me lazy.

Results of the MRI came back –

non-healing (or non union – not sure which I heard) fracture to my clavicle, bursitis, something is up with the tendons, and damage to the AC joint?  I don’t remember exactly what happened to the AC joint.

Verdict – shoulder rehabilitation therapy.

That sounds painful.

I also have an appointment with an ortho guy on December 19 to get an expert’s thoughts on whether I should have surgery.  I start physical therapy on Wednesday.

Holding my arms up to type is torture on that shoulder.

Use my laptop you say?  I would but it’s had a blue screen of death for months.  I’m taking it to a friend tomorrow to see if they can get it working.  I have tried saving Windows XP professional (the operating system for that laptop) to a dvd, cd, and thumb drive.  The laptop won’t boot to any of them to reinstall it.

And I hate blogging from my phone and/or iPod.

Add 3 kids in 3 different schools bringing home all kinds of gunk and I have had 4 kids sick non-stop.  One gets healthy, the other one gets sick, they get healthy, 2 more start vomiting, rinse and repeat.

I even missed bloggin on Leecy’s birthday.

Happy belated blog birthday Leecy.  She turned 5 on Dec 2.

I promise, I wished her a happy birthday multiple times on her birthday in person.  And she had a smashing birthday party.

I’d do the pics but I am at my limit right now with my arm and blogging this and the previous post.  I’ll try to do better, I promise.

It just burns to do this for long.

Have a great day!

I Got Crafty

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 29 - 2011

Perfect gift idea – for anyone!  Who wouldn’t love something you designed as a present?  Get it ordered by 12/2 to ensure Christmas delivery! Use coupon code FREESHIP15 for orders over $15.

Yesterday I wanted to make some presents for my dad’s birthday and Pato’s Christmas present.  I can’t post what I made them because, well, they are connected to me on Facebook and they could come across this blog post and then the surprise is blown.

I decided I needed to make something for myself too though and I decided to make a doormat.

I cannot hardly wait for this to get here.  I am almost more excited about this than I am the presents.

doormat

I promise that drop shadow is all artscow’s doing and not mine for their display purposes.  I am not a dark drop shadow type of gal, I like it soft, much softer.

Is that not the cutest?

I actually didn’t have a coupon for that but I did have special deals they have sent out for the presents that I bought.  They send out the BEST deals via email.

And their quality is fabulous.

I have gotten multiple photo books, watches, purse, umbrella, jewelry, canvases, coin purses, and more from them.

Just in case you were wondering what they are like.

The only downside is that to get it by Christmas, you have to order it be December 2 because it is international shipping.

If you want to check them out, go on over to Artscow.

I’ve got to give AnnaBV designs some mad love to.  Everything on that is from her kits she designed for so you think you can scrap awhile ago.  She is one of my most fave designers!  Thank you Anna for those kits and all of the other beautiful things you design you fabulous woman, you!

And now this commercial for Artscow is over. I can’t help it, when I order something from them, I have to share. :)

Have a wonderful day!

This is my own post.  Artscow did not ask me to do it.  I just have mad love for them.  I received nothing in compensation for posting this.  They have no idea I am posting this and may never know. :)

I Should Give Up On It

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 29 - 2011

You know, my computer and I have been through a lot, including a fire that destroyed my whole apartment building and left my tower sitting in water.

It hasn’t worked the same, but it just keeps chugging along.

Kind of makes me teary eyed thinking about replacing it with the other one sitting by my desk.

It was donated to me after the fire.

I knew then that mine wasn’t working right but I just kept fixing it and fixing it and fixing it.

I love my computer.

We’ve done so much together.

Before Thanksgiving, I turned it off to install updates, which never install anyway for some reason, and it wouldn’t turn back on.

:(

I was sad.

Jordan got tired of my moping around, complaining that I couldn’t get my computer on, so he climbed under my desk, unplugged everything, dusted it out, gave it a hug, pushed the power button, and 1/2 an hour later it powered up.

First time he has fixed it instead of me.

I could switch everything over, I know, I could.

I dread that.

If I am going to do that, I need to order a backup service rather than back up my important stuff to my EHD.

I don’t want to reinstall every single program I use.

Especially since I am missing some of the software – thank you fire, water, and people who helped me move. :)   Actually, the people who helped me move wouldn’t have tossed anything, it would have been my husband thinking I didn’t need it anymore.

Why would I need PSP X when they are up to PSP X3 now?  Cuz I don’t have the spare change to buy PSP X3 right now.  or X1 or X2.  :)

So, favorite back up service?  Or is there only Carbonite?

I need to research.

And also

Happy belated Thanksgiving to my United States family, friends, beloved readers.

My computer was down (again).

But, I’m thankful it’s still alive.

I’m sorry!

Have a wonderful day!

I am off to back up my recent pictures I have taken just in case it decides to die on me.

Happy Birthday To My Husband

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 6 - 2011

November-1

Yep, now he’s only 7 years younger than me …. until December 15 that is.  Then I’ll be 8 years older than him again.

Color me a cougar I guess.

Yesterday he decided he was throwing himself an impromptu birthday party.  His friend Omar wanted to take the night off to celebrate Pato’s birthday.  Pato thought, let’s grill out.

I have been pretty much useless for awhile with my shoulder out like it is.  The house was trashed.

3 vacuum cleaners and none of them are working right.

Dishes piled up in the sink.

You get the point.

Pato ran to JC Penny’s, they were supposedly having a 75-80% off of everything sale.  Turned out there were no vacuum cleaners left.

I’m not sure what took him so long, but he didn’t get home until 30 minutes before everyone was supposed to be here.

I did what I could, taken breaks in between to give my shoulder some time off, then we busted butt when we got here.

Mom ended up not coming, I couldn’t get a hold of my brother Steve, but my sister Abby and her family and my brother Josh and his family and Omar came.  We had so much fun.  We grilled out and had chorizo, chicken legs, steak tacos, these snowflake cookies that I made into cookie bars.  I made better than sex cake, the recipe is here

The boys had VSOP cognac to drink, I had spiked tea.

I held my little nephew Aiden for awhile, showed my sister how my ring sling worked so she could borrow that, danced around and just had a blast.

My brother Steve just called and said he is stopping by after church to eat cake.  Pato has to work but we might head to his work tonight to eat celebrate there.  I’d make another cake, but I don’t feel like it.  I didn’t have the ingredients yet for Pato’s cake, he brought them home with him 30 minutes before the party started.  Whipped it out in the time it took him to cook and everyone to eat.  Woot woot me!

Then I decided that this Friday, we’d have a sleepover with all cousins who don’t breastfeed.  (Unless of course Aiden wants to have a few bottles of his mama’s milk – he can come too.)  We aren’t sure about the younger ones but I thought pizza, movies, popcorn and all that jazz with Aunt Heather might be fun!

Happy birthday Pato!  I love you!

Have a great day!

Finally Had My Shoulder Checked Out

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 4 - 2011

Three months ago, I checked on the kids’ chores, and once again, they shoved everything under the couch.

Being the brilliant person that I am, I picked up the couch (a leather recliner couch), in anger, and moved it about 3 feet forward.

Something in my shoulder made a really funny noise and it hurt … bad.

I lived with it.

And lived with it.

I thought it would get better.  It didn’t.  It throbbed and ached and if I moved my arm it would send a shot of pain through my shoulder.

Beggar’s night was the breaking point.

Christiano gravitates naturally to my right arm.  His costume was a bit too long.  He kept tripping.  And pulling on my arm. Yanking it this way and that.

By the time I was done, I was done.

It hurt so bad.

And it didn’t ease up.

Yesterday I went to my doctor finally.  We are scheduling an MRI.

I either pulled the tendons in my shoulder, in which case, I need physical therapy.

Or I tore the ligaments.  That means surgery.

Either way, it is not a fun path I will be going down.

She gave me prednisone in the meantime to hopefully help with swelling.

Wish me luck.

This is not something that is fun to do when you have little kids.

Have a great day!

Death Is Where?

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 30 - 2011

I was sitting in bed with Alyce the other day when the dogs started barking like mad.

Alyce is my beautiful little 4 year old.  She is sweet as an angel sometimes.

October-8

See?

Back to my story.

I looked at the window, no one there.

Hmmm.  Why are the dogs going crazy.

My daughter, my sweetness, my little angel looked at me, and with the straightest face said….

Death is here.

uh – duh – WHAT?

Death is here?

mmm – hmmm (nodding her head yes)

DEATH?

Yes.

Is here?

Yes.

What?

I’m just kidding mom.

I got out of bed to go to the bathroom.

Leecy, did you say death is here?

It’s ok mom, it’s all clear.

I guess death passed by?

All clear.

Have a great day.
