Done With That For A Year

Posted by Heather Manning On August - 22 - 2011

Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

So Saturday was interesting.  Let’s just say that Heather is not a huge fan of the fair.  I never have been.  It’s hot and crowded and there really isn’t a lot I enjoy doing but, I eventually prayed for an adjustment in my attitude and though I do believe I didn’t quite follow God’s will there, I made it through the fair.

I was really proud of everyone in my family.  I had forgotten to pray with them before we left.  I’m only human, changed, but still human. :)   I turned us all towards a bench, had everyone grab hands, and we stood there and prayed.  I was mighty delighted to not get any rolled eyes towards heaven from my family members and I don’t really care if anyone else was staring.

I do believe the prayer went something like this, Dear God, please protect my family, my children, let them listen to me because, dude they wander easily.  And please help me change my attitude because you know how much I hate this place.

He did work miracles.  I didn’t lose any of my children.  Not once.

Yay me!

My attitude still left something to be desired though, but I tried….. kinda.

Towards the end.

Because I was happy it was time to go.

Did I mention I hate the fair?

God’s strength, people, that’s the only way I made it though Saturday…. without losing one of my 4 ducklings.

August-8Did I mention I forgot my camera?  Or someone did.  I believe I told Katiana to take it off the charger and put it in my purse, and I think she may have started playing with it, which then caused Jordan to start yelling at her, which then caused Pato to step in and put my camera on the entertainment center.  Effect – cell phone pictures. :)

Those are my 3 loving the fair.  Christiano was enjoying himself, I promise.  He just doesn’t work with me on pictures.

August-9

Thumbs up from Jordan.  I am really proud of him.  He for the most part was so well behaved.  I always knew where he was…… beside me.

August-10 I believe we may have even worked mom into the picture.  Yep, that’s me.

August-11 Nano crashed hard and slept the whole fair.  Poor baby.  Worked out well I think.  No whiny from the peanut gallery.  Just from the one middle peanut who is 7.  Games mom.  I’m bored.  I want to ride on rides.  Are we almost done, can we go ride rides now?

August-12I don’t believe I held the camera far enough away.  Pato and I. Aren’t we cute?

August-13My first baby and I.  I cannot believe that Jordan is going to be 13 in February.  Truthfully?  I am totally not old enough to have a son who is going to turn 13.  ….. doing the math.  Crap, I am old enough.

So it was a cough cough complete blast.  I did not stand strong against my fudge craving.

August-20I totally had help eating that.  The kids keep trying to get in the fridge to steal some.  My fudge.  House rule.  Don’t touch it.  You may lose a finger and I am totally serious.

Don’t come between me and my chocolate or my fudge.  God save your soul if you do. :)

After the fair, I came home and started to relax finally.  I was going to go to the Manning family get together, but I have been fighting something that is making me hoarse and squeaky, and I tend to cough all over everything I am near.  I didn’t want to take that to my grandma.  I know, I’m so thoughtful.  My mom might not agree since I forgot I was sick and took it to her house Friday night.  Sorry mom!

I was sitting in bed and happened to look at my phone.  9:59.  Crabble Rock started at 10 PM at Prairie Meadows.  Crabble Rock is a group that 2 of my friends from school are in.  (Ryan and David Crabbs – brothers.)  They are so fabulous.  I had put it in my phone because I really wanted to go.  So, I hurried up, got dressed again, told Pato to get his butt in the car, and off we went.  Jordan babysat.  I started at 11.  He is almost 13.  I was good with that, nervous but good, and he did an excellent job.

We got to the casino in between set 1 and set 2, so I got to watch them do the second set.  They are so fabulous!  Their singers, all 3 of them, too much fun.  Ryan and David, so talented, so is the drummer and the keyboardist who I do not know.

Came home, passed out, all was good.

Sunday.  Oh Sunday.  Sunday would have been fantastic if I didn’t have to take 4 kids shoe shopping, chasing my 2 year old all over the place.

I asked God for patience once.

He gave me 4 children that are very very strong willed and have a very short memory span when it comes to what mom says to do.

Have a beautiful day!

May God bless you!

Off To The Fair

Posted by Heather Manning On August - 20 - 2011

Isaiah 50:7 But the Lord God helps me: therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.

It’s almost the end of the Iowa State Fair and we still have not been.  Today is the day and I am really hoping that it stays cool out.  One of those, please God, you know how much I hate the heat and the bees, let it stay cool today, type of prayers.

The kids love it so much though.

Pato loves it.

I just need to stay far far far away from the fudge selling vendor.  They are there every year and it is the only thing I have always bought to bring home with me.  Butterscotch fudge, white chocolate fudge, toffee fudge, pumpkin fudge, they make it all!

I’m not helping myself at all am I?

So, I’m thinking – food on a stick….. because that is what our fair is famous for, that and the butter cow, some games for the kids, the varied industry building – for the kids, walking around, good exercise for me, than off to my grandma’s house.  I did not know there was a Manning family get together until last night.  Today would be my grandma and grandpa’s 72 wedding anniversary, and my grandpa’s 94 birthday. He passed away on Dec 9, 2006, 7 days after Leecey was born.  We were in the same hospital at the same time, on different floors and I could go see him.  It’s ok.  I was there the day he passed away.  My grandma has been missing him a lot lately and I think having the entire family with her on their anniversary is a fabulous idea.  Grandma needs all of us there with her.

Since I can’t keep a straight thought because everyone is up and moving and yelling and shouting near me as I am blogging I will sign off and leave you with a picture of what I call the 3 musketeers.

August-7Fuzzy, but shows myself, Angie, and Danielle, best friends since we were 13.  That was at Angie’s wedding last Friday.  I have more pictures….. from my phone. :)   I keep forgetting my camera.  Remind me to take that to the fair with us today.

Have a beautiful day and may the Lord bless and keep you!

School Has Started

Posted by Heather Manning On August - 19 - 2011

Revelation 4:11 Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.

I am so behind period.  I have tons of pictures from my phone because I’ll admit it, I have been horribly lazy about getting my camera out, but I just got the HTC Evo 4G and it has something like an 8MP camera so the pictures are great, after I figured out that I could adjust the coloring on them before I took the picture.  Jordan’s pic is a little washed out because I didn’t catch that until later.

August-3My rock star off to 6th grade.  His first year in middle school.  His first year at the school I graduated from.  (It used to be the high school, now it is the middle school.)  I was so proud when he walked up there, I couldn’t hardly stand it.  He is doing so well. Making friends, watching girls giggle as they talk to him, sit by him, bump into him on purpose in the hallway.  I have been praying so hard for Jordan to not see a twisted reflection of himself in the mirror.  I want him to see himself the way God made him, beautiful handsome Jordan.  I want him to have confidence as he walks down those halls so that others can see that handsomeness, that confidence that God has placed in him.  He really truly is an amazing boy…. I suppose I should say young man. Can you believe that Jordan is going to be 13 in February?  1 and 1/2 years until he can get his driver’s permit.  I could cry.  Seriously.  Thinking about how fast he is growing up?  It makes me weepy.  I’m a very lucky mama.

August-2

My little gorgeous angel….. sometimes…. Katiana.  She was off to her first day of 2nd grade at her new school.  We are in the same district as before, but she goes to a different elementary.  She just happens to now go to school with her best friend Olivia.  They have been BFFs since preschool.  They aren’t in the same class, but they spend their recesses together.  Her teacher called me yesterday and told me Katiana is doing fantastic.  She is happy and making friends and just being the beautiful Katiana that God is helping her to be.

I tell you guys, seriously.  I am just so happy.  I look at my children, and so much more often now, I am just amazed that God loaned me these precious little humans to raise and to take care of.  All of my children are just so wonderful.

Now to keep on working on them respecting and obeying me.

I never said it happened over night.

Have a wonderful beautiful day!

I have missed you guys so much!

Leave me comments and tell me how you all have been!!!!!

I am back

Posted by Heather Manning On August - 10 - 2011

It’s a very long story, but my mind has been scattered for months.  I’m sure it’s an interesting story and I’ll share what I feel God leads me to share as I feel I am being led to share it, right now though, I am just enjoying not being obsessive compulsive wanting to do everything at once.  I need to learn limits.  I need to learn how to set time apart for digital scrapping and blogging, my 2 favorite hobbies.  First God, then my husband, than family, and then the rest of the stuff.  That is now my mantra.  I will be back blogging as normal, maybe not as normal, but as normal now will be.  I have missed you all so much.

I will just leave you with,

God Bless You.

Katiana and her Birthday Pics

Posted by Heather Manning On April - 23 - 2011

This post gets me caught up on pictures, which is a good thing because I’m sure I’ll have tons of Easter pics tomorrow. :)

Katiana turned 7 on April 6.  We had the family birthday party that night and she had a slumber party on the Saturday after that.  My family came to that too.  We had so much food as I had planned for 10 girls but everyone had plans except for (thank goodness!) Kat’s BFFs.

April-7

Kat and Alyce

April-8

Nano

April-9

Jordan

April-10

Kat wanted fruit pizza for her birthday and cake for her slumber party.  This is the pizza.  I forgot mandarin oranges which amazes everyone, including myself because that is my favorite.

April-11

Blowing out her candles

April-12

I think I need to make some more.  That was so good!

April-13

Some of her presents – helmet and roller blades from us.  Pads from my sis and her family.  Her big presents wasn’t ready that day.  She had to wait until Saturday to get her iPod touch.  We bought it used (she’s 7, though she does take better care of her stuff than Jordan), the only thing wrong?  The screen was cracked.  Pato knows someone who fixes screens for like $40.

April-14

She loves her roller blades!  And her helmet which means we can take the training wheels off her bike finally.

April-15

Her birthday party cake.  She picked it out.

April-16

Alyce, Kat, and her BFFs Olivia (from preschool – I love that they still love each other) and Faith (from school).  Olivia and Kat will be at the same school next year since we moved from one elementary in our district to another (there are 5 or 6 – I can’t remember).  We’ll have play dates with Faith because those 2 adore each other.

April-17

Kat, Olivia, and Faith

April-18

And again, Olivia, Kat, and Faith.

I think we need to have another slumber party with the girls.  They were so good and had so much fun!

Have a great day!

Final post on St Paddy’s day.  Thank goodness.  I’m tired of looking at these pictures now.  :)   You don’t even know how many pictures I took that day.  You know, that’s the benefit and problem with digital cameras.  You just keep shooting, never worrying about running out of film.  Then you have 700 pictures of a 2 hour period to go through. :)

Des Moines St Patrick’s Day Parade Part 1

Posted by Heather Manning On April - 18 - 2011

How often do you see that title in April?  I’m going to say not often.  I’ve got to get caught up on pictures though.  I think this is going to be a multi-multi- part post because of how many pictures I took.  I’m not posting all of them but it was hard to choose between all the parade attendees!

April-5

Junie Bee – after she calmed down because she saw….. DOGS!  She isn’t actually a dog you know.  She’s just a person on 4 legs.

I made her the bow that morning because I didn’t have any green clothes for her.  (I know!  Can you believe that?  So much going on after the fire I didn’t think about getting her a shirt until last minute and I couldn’t find one.)

April-3

Junie
