U6 Last Soccer Game

Posted by Heather Manning On May - 19 - 2012

My girls and me

Got a little sniffly today. It was the last game for Alyce this season which means it was my last game coaching until fall. This season I had all new girls (except for my daughter), so there is always a chance my girls won’t play next season or will get moved around to new teams. I really hope I get this same group next season. Such a fun go get ‘em giggly group of girls.

Hence the sniffles.

I’ll miss them if they get rearranged on me.

I’ll always have Leecy on my team.
:)

We did our drills and then had our game.

I think my girls were frustrated.

“They are too fast and have big kicks!”

That’s just how the ball bounces – or rolls – sometimes baby.

After the game, I did my own little medal ceremony (the club gives medals to the little ones at the end of each season). Then treats!

We thought we’d bring something cool so no matter how the game went they would leave with smiles.

A cooler full of ice cream sandwiches and popcycles.

They left with smiles.

So did I.

Last Day of Preschool

Posted by Heather Manning On May - 19 - 2012

This year has flown by so fast. I feel like I was just dropping Alyce off for preschool and now she is done.

Yesterday we all were invited to go to the park and play with them for the last day. nano and I decided to walk from the school to the park with them. So glad I grabbed our wagon! I don’t know how the teachers walked those kids down all the time in an orderly line. Not the shortest walk and they all were so good!

We had so much fun! On the way back, Alyce decided she needed to ride in the wagon with Nano. Got my workout in for the day.

We got in the car and I heard, do I go to kindergarten tomorrow mom?

Enjoy your summer baby!

    Nano and His Nightly Prayer

    Carter on St Paddy’s Day

Carter is my nephew and Christiano’s best friend.

He’ll tell you that all the time.

    Carter is my best friend.

    They are 2 years apart.

Every night when we pray before bed (or before dinner or insert any other time you might pray) I ask the kids if they have anything they want to add.

And thank you for Carter, Nano always says.

    Anyone else?

    No. Carter.

    Grandma, grandpa?

    No, Carter.

    Mommy and daddy?

    No, just Carter.

Uncle Josh, Aunt Shelley? (I mean, it is thanks to them that he has his best friend Carter.)

    No. CARTER!

Ok, and thank you, God for Carter.

Then I add in everyone else, just to be fair.

We all know where we rank with Nano now.

    Happy Mother’s Day

Posted by Heather Manning On May - 13 - 2012

I just wanted to wish all the mom’s out there a happy Mother’s Day!

At church today, instead of a normal service, the men made us brunch and served all of the moms. It was so neat. We have been blessed with a wonderful group of guys in our church including my dad and brother, who served me since my husband had to work.

    20120513-135116.jpg

My son, my niece, and the other teens took care of all of the children and did a great job of it.

I’ll admit it, I cried. As mom’s we lose ourselves in our kids and we really need to make time for ourselves both with God and just away from our kids in general.

Now I am just waiting for it to be time for Jordan’s soccer game, then off to my parents’ for a cook out.

I’ll leave you with Jordan’s art project/my mother’s day present.

    20120513-134353.jpg

Yes, that is a sun licking up to catch a falling booger. He was upset because he didn’t get to glaze it.

Really? That’s the part you were worried about?

Definitely a 13 year old boy.

    Who says he’s got skillz.

I know you’re jealous cuz you didn’t get a booger licking sun.

I’m not sharing it cuz my son made it just for me!

    Have a beautiful Mother’s Day!

    Woody and Twinkle

Posted by Heather Manning On May - 10 - 2012

I haven’t shared a pic of Woodstock and Twinkle for awhile and I snapped some during their morning free flight time.

    20120510-095940.jpg

Woody – he’s getting close to 9 years old now. He’s Katiana’s best friend and not a fan of anyone else. She could hold him upside down and he wouldn’t care. He’s the bird I tell visitor’s please don’t touch.

    20120510-100003.jpg

    20120510-100033.jpg

Twinkle is 2 and she’s the one that I hand fed from 5 weeks on. She is the friendliest bird you will ever meet. She nibbles because she likes to explore but she has never straight up bit anyone. She is the one I took to Leecy’s school when they were learning about birds. She didn’t mind the kids at all.

    20120510-100053.jpg

Here’s a couple of shots of Leecy and twinkle at school. Pictures of pictures so not the greatest.

    Katiana’s Hair Today

Posted by Heather Manning On May - 9 - 2012

    20120509-080610.jpg

I would totally turn this into a weekly feature if I had a daughter who let me do their hair all the time. I have girly girls who love dresses and skirts. Why Katiana hates having her hair done is …. Well, it’s not beyond me. I now know why. She has the longest hair in her grade and possibly in the school and the other girls like to do her hair. She lets them do it but not me. Totally not fair. I wanted a girl to dress her up and do beautiful hairstyles on. Isn’t that why we all wanted girls? :)

Alyce’s hair is finally what I consider long and to the point where I can do some of these braids on her. Kat’s is almost to her waist. Alyce’s is just past the middle of her back.

This morning I told Kat to grab a pony so I could pull her bangs out of her face. She’s growing them out and they are finally long enough to catch in a braid. I started just French braiding the top and said, know what, I’m doing her hair today. She was engrossed in the show I let her turn on and didn’t really notice I was doing her hair. Until I was 3/4 of the way done. It’ll be taken out by the time she walks in the door this afternoon. It’s what she does.

What did i do? Simple French braid into a fishtail.

If you don’t know how to do a fishtail, it’s super easy but IMHO it takes longer than a regular 3 strand braid when you are doing hair as long as Kat’s. My hands tend to start cramping up by the end, but I love how it came out.

If you don’t know how to do a fishtail braid, here is a tutorial.

    Have a great day!

Start Of The Garage Sale Season

Posted by Heather Manning On May - 6 - 2012

It is 1 in the morning. The kids finally settled down and the alarm will go off at 7:30 AM for church.

Here I am though catching up on Supernatural and blogging.

It was humid and hot today which made soccer a blast. Ok, it was actually fun but I was a hot mess for pictures. For real. Our pictures were after the game so after running around with 5 year olds for an hour and a half, I looked gorgeous. Curly hair + humidity not even my anti-humidity hair spray could control = a picture of me as coach I don’t believe I want to see.
    :)

After Alyce’s game I came home and did Kat’s hair for her pictures, which thankfully were before her game, since she has my hair. I dropped Pato, her, and Nano off at the soccer fields while Alyce and I went garage saling. City wide garage sale. My favorite kind.

I’m a sucker for thrift stores, garage sales, and all things unusual and at an awesome price.

I forgot that it was this weekend and missed yesterday. Totally kicking myself because by the time I got out there at noon there wasn’t much good stuff left.

    Tragic, I know.

I did find jordan some cool shirts and hats, a couple of books on robotics, and a pair of sandals that don’t look worn at all.

Other than that I didn’t find much more for the kids than a garbage bag full of these blocks for Nano.

    20120506-011618.jpg

    These plants for myself.

    20120506-011720.jpg

There’s some day lilies, lily of the valley, lilac, mint, oregano, and something else I don’t remember there. The mint and oregano I am going to attempt to grow inside. Wish me luck.

    20120506-011934.jpg

That silly little baby pool the kids wanted for $1 to use until I replace the one Suki (our chihuahua) popped last summer. Then the dogs can use that one.

And Pato’s make an offer find.

    20120506-012316.jpg

I had seen it and told Pato about it so he offered $5.

    Yes, finish laughing, I’ll wait.

It is needing a $75 part.

If he can fix it, it’s a flat screen for our bedroom to replace the humongous honking one on my dresser.

    If not, it was $5.
I was truly disappointed this year. Last year I found so many awesome deals. I made trips home to unpack a couple of times.

This year, if I hadn’t grabbed the plants and the tv, I would have had the bag of blocks and 3 grocery bags with not much in them.

I wanted to say to some people, you do realize you have having a garage sale right?

The prices were slightly crazy for a garage sale. I could get some of the clothes I saw new on sale for less than they had them priced used.

    Hate that.

Bums out my garage saling day.

    Have a great night!
