I am a Christian, tattoo loving, paranormal believing, pierced up, supernatural watching, vampire diaries adoring, soccer coaching, animal helping, Earth saving, twimom to 4 living a crazy life I love. I am definitely Not Everyones Mama.
I ordered the red Ian cross for one of my lucky readers!
You will love it! I received mine in yellow the other day and I love it!
That’s mine.
This giveaway below is sponsored by me. I purchased the cross myself because I believe in BOB and their purpose.
BOB is a collaborative effort between two multi talented brothers. Built of Barnwood is based in the charming coastal town of Bay St Louis Mississippi. They are focusing on reclaiming, recycling and re-purposing vintage wood and building materials. Once reclaimed they are turned into usable artwork, home furnishing and design accent pieces. Together Bob Somerhalder and Ian Somerhalder strive for a greener more sustainable economy. With this green desire in mind, they have launched a clean and sustainable business that is a hot and trendy product line for home decor and furniture.
Do you recognize one of those names? Ian Somerhalder? Our favorite vampire on The Vampire Diaries. A very passionate soul when it comes to conservation and so is his brother Bob. (And the whole family too from what I have seen on Facebook.). When you purchase from BOB, you are supporting the IS Foundation because part of the proceeds go straight over there, where Ian and his team are striving to improve this world we live in for us and for everything else on this planet.
So, how do you win this red Ian cross?
Easy entry.
Just tell me your favorite way to recycle/upcyle things. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, it could be as simple as taking your cans to a recycling center or you may have done an elaborate project involving pallets, mason jars, and some cabinet handles. The sky is the limit.
There are a few other entries that aren’t mandatory, including donating to the IS Foundation. You do need to forward the email that you did that, but please feel free to delete any information that you feel is inappropriate for others to see. I just need the part that says $5 donation paid to IS Foundation.
To the FTC (wo)man: Greetings! This giveaway is sponsored solely by me. Built of Barnwood in no way asked me for nor reimbursed me for the prize, my words, my opinions, my thoughts. It is a prize I bought from a company I believe in.
I was flipping through Flipboard, like I do all the time when I have a few minutes to spare, and I started thinking about how more and more giveaways are getting more and more ridiculous.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a good giveaway, like all of you. I’ve had some good giveaways. I have stopped doing them for the time being because a) I had a few sponsors not follow through on delivering prizes and b) it just started taking up way too much time.
This is what I mean:
The ones where a million bloggers get together to offer an iPad, or cash, or whatever it might be and for your mandatory entry you have to like every single one of their Facebook pages AND (or) follow all of their Twitter accounts.
I have decided, I don’t care what the prize is, I am not filling up my Facebook with pages I could care less about or clutter up my timeline on twitter. If I’m following you on Twitter, it’s because I actually like what you post. I hope if you’re following me, that is the reason that you do so.
You know one blogger (out of many) who I think does it right?
I’m pointing him out because I just entered his iPad 3 giveaway. Mandatory entry? Tell him where you are entering from. Full disclosure here. I already got my entries for that post, just showing you a giveaway that I thought was easy and fabulous. Does he have the option to like FB pages and follow twitterers? Yes. Extra entries.
I just am starting to wonder if we really need to make our readers do all of that hoopla to get higher stats for a month or too, and maybe have a couple of them stick around. I want you hear because you like reading my posts, but that’s because my blog is primarily my journal.
I’m also wondering how much hate I’ll get from my fellow bloggers justifying the way they roll out giveaways. I get it, I do. I’m not singling any of your giveaways out. You roll out your giveaways the way you do, others do it the way they do it. It’s all about the stats, about increasing your numbers to attract more PR. Honestly, I understand. I chased the stat monster for a couple of years too.
So to those bloggers, I am sorry if my post offends you, but I truly want to hear from the readers, those who enter the giveaways. Do you like those giveaways that require you to do so much just to enter the giveaway? Or do you prefer the easy entry, answer a simple question or enter your email address or follow the sponsor on Twitter type of giveaways. Or do you not care. There obviously are a lot of people who don’t mind (possibly enjoy?) these type of entries, because they usually are high entry giveaways.
I’m just thinking of the old fashioned sweepstakes. There are lots of people who avoid blog giveaways like the plague because they don’t want to jump through hoops to enter. Simple enter your name and address and you win are the ones they want to see.
I do know that my next giveaway is going to be simple. It’s coming up next month and is sponsored by me for a company where some of the proceeds go to a charity I support. You have my word that the mandatory entry will be simple. There will be extra entries, not a ton, but a few, but for those who like to keep it simple, that first entry will be easy peasy.
Leave me your thoughts. What is your favorite type of giveaway? What makes you jump through all those mandatory entry hoops if you do those kinds? What causes you to skip over a giveaway that interested you enough to visit it to begin with?
Perfect gift idea – Actually, perfect holiday idea for making those holiday cards to send out!
Do you have those holiday cards made yet?
That’s something I do every single year. My previous years’ cards that I have made looked like this –
This year I went with a different look. I made a tree that looks (hopefully) like my children drew it and used my kids pictures as ornaments.
I wanted simpler this year. I’m not sure why. It just felt right.
The card was made and the next decision was, who do I go with to print it out? I decided on MyPublisher.
They have a program you can download and I thought it was super easy to use. I used the card that just looked like a picture. Uploaded my image to the blank one, ordered it, and it was done. My cards will be shipped in 2 – 5 days and I’ll have them by Dec 1 to ship out to friends and family.
They also have TONS of styles to choose from if you just want to add your picture and not design it from scratch like I do. (It’s the digital scrapbooker in me that has to do that every year!) They have elegant, fun, simple, so many styles to choose from.
I can’t wait to get the cards and see how it turns out.
For the digiscrappers out there, they also print out 12X12’s if you go that route instead of printing them into a book. Then again, they also offer books. You can go with whichever product you like! Awesome!
for being a fun, easy to use way to make your holiday cards with very reasonable prices!
And I have a goodie for one of you all!
Someone here is going to win a $50 coupon code for your own holiday cards this year! We’re going to make this a quickie so that you have time to print, order, and get them mailed out before the holidays hit us hard!
Thank you to Project You for joining with me for this giveaway and for offering me a $50 gift code for my own holiday cards and one to giveaway to my readers! Remember, you can always read the latest issue of Project You Magazine here at Not Everyone’s Mama!

MOVIE INFO
A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, Real Steel stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback. — (C) Dreamworks

I did not receive any compensation for this post that I know of.
See, Santa was off duty that night that we went out for Halloween and he hijacked my photo. Who knew Santa was hanging in Des Moines, IA on Halloween night? Not I. He seriously should have won the most creative costume that night.
I can see so many ideas with iCaughtSanta.com. If you do it quickly, you can prove to your kids there is a Santa! Take a picture of yourself in front of the Christmas tree, upload it to iCaughtSanta.com, pick your Santa, your border, and voila your done! It’s $9.99 or you can upgrade to a bundle of 4 for $10 more! Too much fun! I just showed my picture to the girls and they loved it! But mom, how come you didn’t tell us you saw Santa that night? I was waiting for the picture of course!
Oh, another idea! Take a picture of your sleeping child and place Santa in front of them! Print it out and show it to them on Christmas morning! Bonus excitement!
Santa is in excellent quality and goes with my picture quite well if I do say so myself, though I should have moved him down a tad bit farther looking at it now.
I received a free photo and a shot at an iPad with this post but all opinions remain my own. It’s still too much fun!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. **CLOSED**
I had to close this early as I received an email from the sponsor saying they needed the winners address by 9/30. I am so sorry! I didn’t realize this when I posted the giveaway and didn’t adjust the date accordingly.
Winner is kamoons!
The numbers are missing from my comments and the spacing is messed up, so while I am working on that, I had to pick a winner for this giveaway. I scrolled my mouse up and down as Alyce waved her magic finger in the air, then she alacazammed it, and her finger landed on kamoons! Congratulations! I will be contacting your for your address.
Watch out – the boys finally get their own DVD! Get more Penguins, more Madagascar and more fun with the world debut of The Penguins of Madagascar Operations. Their mission? To maintain order in the zoo. Their nemesis? Their obnoxious neighbor, King Julien. Join Skipper and the crew as they outwit anyone and everything crossing their path as they rule the zoo.
Finally I am getting caught up after the last month or so from…well, a very warm place! I was sent The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premier along with a box of General Mills Trix cereal to review!
Ok, I don’t know who doesn’t like Trix. Those get a huge thumbs up from everyone in my family. I’ve been eating those since I was a kid. Come to think of it, I still say, silly rabbit, Trix are for kids, now at 35.
I’m never a huge fan of cereal box toys because it’s just more stuff to have scattered around, but the kids had fun with them for a day or so before they were scattered all over the house and I started tossing them. (There’s a rule in our house, if I find little toys all over, they get thrown away.)
Like I said, the cereal was a huge hit, it always is. And the movie, the movie my kids love! My husband now repeats the phrase, who let the stinkiness out all the time. Thank you King Julien. The movie is really cute, the penguins are always up to something.
Let me let my kids tell you what they thought. (It’s a tradition on kids’ stuff here at this blog, we let the kids tell you what they really think!)
Alyce (3 years old): It was AWESOME! (Note from mom – AWESOME is capitalized to show you that she just screamed that at me.) Skipper! That one (pointing at the screen)! Skipper! He’s my favorite penguin in the world! I love penguins, I love penguins, I love penguins! Jumping up and down.
Katiana (6 years old): I like King Julien because sometimes he gets all funny, and then like there’s this little guy, Mort, he’s really funny because there’s this blow hole (Dr.), and he’s funny. King Julien got these little crabs, they took King Julien, and he turned into the evil guy, then he turned back into a good guy. Mort was going crazy because he really wanted to know where King Julien was. He was really funny. They did like this spy thing, and there’s this other one, the gray one, Maurice, he was really nasty in one of them. He made the King a smoothie, and he didn’t like it, so he said make me a new one. So he stuck it in Mort’s mouth, grabbed him, shook him up, made him spit it out, put ear wax on the cherry, it was nasty! And then the King ate it and he liked it.
Jordan (11 years old): My favorite part of it is Truth-Ache. Skipper and his team go out on a mission and the mission is called Sneaky Peak. They go out at night and they spy on every other animal in the zoo. They take videos and then once they get back to their HQ and lock it up in the vault. Skipper said that the whole mission was just to have the upper hand when they have a chance to attack. He said friends are just enemies without a tactic, but when they do we’ll have the upper Flipper on them. After they have the stuff in the vault, Private the next morning when they do their exercises, he’s not doing very well because he stayed up all night thinking about the operation. Skipper said to skip the work out and go get some grab. He goes down to HQ and finds a pile of fish, but it’s too plain. He finds a bottle of hot sauce, pours it on the fish, and eats it all. Then everyone comes downstairs, Skipper asks what was in the hot sauce. Truth serum. Kowalski said, everyone knows you put Truth Serum in hot sauce. I put amnesia mist in the ketchup. Skipper says, what’s mustard. Kowalski said it’s a tangy condiment you put on your hot dog. Then he squeezes it, mmm, smells delicious. Then Maurice screams help because Mort got stuck in the pop corn machine. Everyone celebrates. Then they say why are you leaving? Skipper says, big fish to fry. Private ate the truth serum, and can tell when people are lying, and said no you don’t. Then everyone asks why are you leaving………..
That story goes on forever, you must watch the movie before Jordan gives you all the spoilers!!
You’ll receive a Penguins of Madagascar prize pack which includes one box of Trix cereal, a Penguins of Madagascar launcher and the new Penguins of Madagascar movie, The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premier.
