Hickory Farms

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 30 - 2011

Perfect gift idea – for anyone!  Nothing says I love you at Christmas time like Hickory Farms.  At least for me.  Send me the fudge, mom, if you’re searching for my perfect presents! :)

Oh Hickory Farms.

How I love thee.

Let me count the ways.

Sausage.

Chedder.

Nuts.

Fruit.

Fudge.

Cookies.

So much more.

Seriously, what tells you it is Christmas time faster than seeing the Hickory Farms store at your local mall?

hickoryfarms

When my grandpa was alive,  I always got him a Hickory Farms gift basket for Christmas.

When I bought him clothes he gave them back to me to wear.

I knew he’d eat this.

And share!

‘Cuz I love them too.

Their #1 gift basket was dropped off at my door just in time for Thanksgiving.  My sister in law warned my children that if they dared eat that cheese without her, there would be dire consequences.

They know how much their Aunt Shelley loves cheese and took her seriously.  So did Pato.

It went over huge when I set it out before Thanksgiving dinner was completely done.  Every last piece gone.  I’m glad I ate some as I cut it up.  I know my family with cheese and sausage.  My favorite was the farmhouse cheddar.  I’m not a huge smoked person, so those were not my favorites, but for everyone else, it was a smash!  The summer sausage.  I could live on that daily.  They have the absolute best summer sausage!

I was just looking through their site for more stuff for me my family’s holiday gifts and they have a category called military gifts.

Order military Christmas gifts from Hickory Farms and express your appreciation for deployed soldiers. Our gifts for soldiers are a great way to thank the brave men and women of the military during the holidays. You’ll find unique gifts for military personnel that feature nostalgic authenticity and quality ingredients that are sure to brighten the day of any soldier. Choose from an assortment of military packages that offer free shipping to APO and FPO addresses.
You’ll find perfect APO gifts for the Christmas season, so your deployed family member or friend can have a taste of home during the holidays. Support the troops and show your appreciation with military Christmas gift baskets that are eligible for free FPO delivery.

I think that is a very cool gift idea to send along with your box of essentials that those men and women need.

I need their fudge.  I really do.

I have a slight addiction to fudge.  Don’t judge.  We all have our vices.  Look at this!

hickoryfarms2

My mouth is watering just looking at it.  So yummy!  Heavenly Fudge Assortment

Now that I have you as hungry as I am, head over and check out the rest of their selection.  You will be the most favorite gift giver ever if you include Hickory Farms on your gift list and with $3 flat rate shipping and awesome daily deals, you’ll be feeling pretty good about your gift giving self!  (Make sure you don’t forget a present for yourself!)

I Got Crafty

Perfect gift idea – for anyone!  Who wouldn’t love something you designed as a present?  Get it ordered by 12/2 to ensure Christmas delivery! Use coupon code FREESHIP15 for orders over $15.

Yesterday I wanted to make some presents for my dad’s birthday and Pato’s Christmas present.  I can’t post what I made them because, well, they are connected to me on Facebook and they could come across this blog post and then the surprise is blown.

I decided I needed to make something for myself too though and I decided to make a doormat.

I cannot hardly wait for this to get here.  I am almost more excited about this than I am the presents.

doormat

I promise that drop shadow is all artscow’s doing and not mine for their display purposes.  I am not a dark drop shadow type of gal, I like it soft, much softer.

Is that not the cutest?

I actually didn’t have a coupon for that but I did have special deals they have sent out for the presents that I bought.  They send out the BEST deals via email.

And their quality is fabulous.

I have gotten multiple photo books, watches, purse, umbrella, jewelry, canvases, coin purses, and more from them.

Just in case you were wondering what they are like.

The only downside is that to get it by Christmas, you have to order it be December 2 because it is international shipping.

If you want to check them out, go on over to Artscow.

I’ve got to give AnnaBV designs some mad love to.  Everything on that is from her kits she designed for so you think you can scrap awhile ago.  She is one of my most fave designers!  Thank you Anna for those kits and all of the other beautiful things you design you fabulous woman, you!

And now this commercial for Artscow is over. I can’t help it, when I order something from them, I have to share. :)

Have a wonderful day!

This is my own post.  Artscow did not ask me to do it.  I just have mad love for them.  I received nothing in compensation for posting this.  They have no idea I am posting this and may never know. :)

My Publisher $50 Giveaway

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 20 - 2011

Perfect gift idea – Actually, perfect holiday idea for making those holiday cards to send out!

Do you have those holiday cards made yet?

That’s something I do every single year.  My previous years’ cards that I have made looked like this –

2008cardj-sm

2009ChristmasCard-SM

Christmas2010-sm

This year I went with a different look.  I made a tree that looks (hopefully) like my children drew it and used my kids pictures as ornaments.

christmascard2011-sm

I wanted simpler this year.  I’m not sure why.  It just felt right.

The card was made and the next decision was, who do I go with to print it out?  I decided on MyPublisher.

They have a program you can download and I thought it was super easy to use.  I used the card that just looked like a picture.  Uploaded my image to the blank one, ordered it, and it was done.  My cards will be shipped in 2 – 5 days and I’ll have them by Dec 1 to ship out to friends and family.

They also have TONS of styles to choose from if you just want to add your picture and not design it from scratch like I do.  (It’s the digital scrapbooker in me that has to do that every year!)  They have elegant, fun, simple, so many styles to choose from.

I can’t wait to get the cards and see how it turns out.

For the digiscrappers out there, they also print out 12X12’s if you go that route instead of printing them into a book.  Then again, they also offer books.  You can go with whichever product you like!  Awesome!

MyPublisher gets a

thumbsupfor being a fun, easy to use way to make your holiday cards with very reasonable prices!

And I have a goodie for one of you all!

Someone here is going to win a $50 coupon code for your own holiday cards this year!  We’re going to make this a quickie so that you have time to print, order, and get them mailed out before the holidays hit us hard!

disclaimer

Thank you to Project You for joining with me for this giveaway and for offering me a $50 gift code for my own holiday cards and one to giveaway to my readers!  Remember, you can always read the latest issue of Project You Magazine here at Not Everyone’s Mama!

Nero Kwik Media

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 18 - 2011

4kidsgettingalong-sm

Perfect gift idea – Make your gifts this holiday season!  Have those pictures that are sitting on your hard drive made into a beautiful (very reasonable priced) will be cherished for years photo book for your family and friends.

Awesome new product out right now that I think a lot of my blog readers will be interested in!  My first readers who ever started visiting my blog, my digiscrapping friends, will LOVE this!  I think all of my newer readers/followers/friends/family will think this is really cool too.

Traditionally, when you make a photo book, you go to a site, upload all of your photos and fiddle around with it there.

When you download (it’s free! try it!) Nero Kwik Media, you can do all of that on your computer without taking it to a website now.

It was really simple to do.

Download the software.

Install.

The program automatically finds your pictures for you.

nero

Then go to Create A Photo Product.

From there you can, in my case, add all of your scrapbook pages, and start creating your book.

If you are using a 3600 X 3600 page, you can just drag and drop it where you want it, then click on use as background image.

It places it perfectly where you need it.

neri2

Continue on through each page and your back cover.

Preview.

Order.

You order it straight from the program.

Very cool.

The prices are more than competitive in my opinion too.  $12.99 for a 20 page soft cover book.  Think of how many Christmas presents you could give out at that price!  Homemade, photos of your loved ones, your scrap pages, for $12.99.

If you aren’t a scrapper, this program is really for you.

There are backgrounds included, frames, drop shadows, everything you need to create this book.  Just pick your theme (including holidays and kids!), drag, drop, and position your pictures, add your text, preview, and order.

Seriously, it could not be any simpler.

I honestly think anyone could use this program.

Does it do more than make photo books?

Yes!

nero3

You can burn CDs, watch HD movies you burned to blue ray, make slideshows, share on Facebook and YouTube, sync with your Android device (happy!  I have an HTC Evo 4G), and of course order your photo books, calendars, and greeting cards.

nero4

You might want to check this page out because I found a 40% off coupon code.  That makes your soft cover photo book less than $8.00.

I was really impressed with this.  Doing what I do with digital scrapbooking, I am used to being very technical, measuring edges for bleed, using templates, all of that stuff to get my books just right.

I didn’t have to do that here.

Drag, drop, done.

Head on over and download Nero Kwik Media for free!  Give it a shot!

Excellent product Nero!  I give you kudos and a

thumbsupfor being an awesome easy to product to help families record their memories.  I would like to give my own tip.  If you have more than one child, get a copy of each photo book made for each kid.  That way, when they move away and start their own families, they each have these books to take with them.  That’s how I do it.  I always want to fight with my siblings over my mom’s pics.  This way it’s taken care of.

Disclosure: This post is part of a SocialMoms product evaluation, for which I’ve been selected. One free photo book was made available to me for review purposes. I’ve been compensated for my time with a $100 PayPal payment. The opinions expressed in this post are mine and don’t necessarily reflect the opinions of SocialMoms or Nero.

Perfect gift idea for those 4 legged friends in your life (the dogs or cats as you’ll see!)

PowerPaws-1

That’s one of my 2 little girls (rescues), Suki.  Is she not adorable?  The Power Paws just add to that cuteness.  They aren’t just cute though, they are practical!

What are Power Paws?

They are socks for dogs.

Seriously.

So much better than shoes or boots.

If you know me, you know that in the wintertime both of my dogs are dressed.  Sweaters, ponchos, the works.  They both have a full wardrobe for potty breaks in the cold frigid Iowa winter.  Especially Junie, she’s a hairy hairless chinese crested.

I’ve tried boots on both of them but they hate them.  A)  They don’t go on well.  B)  They are awkward once you get them on.

It’s not long before either dog gets the boots off.

Hate them.

I stuck these on them, neither of them tried to take them off.

Now, remember I said there were practical reasons for these – ones that revolve around not just being adorable?

INDOOR USES:

  • Traction for senior dogs: you may need just one pair for the back paws, or your dog may need traction on all four paws. Power Paws give dogs with hip dysplasia, arthritis, and other neuro-skeletal issues the power to stand, the power to go, and the power to stop!
  • Slippery floors: If your young, middle-aged or aging dog runs through the house and skids on your floors, you should put Power Paws on all four feet. This is also useful for dogs that have lost the confidence to walk on hardwood or tile. Power Paws make movement easier, increasing your pet’s quality of life.
  • Protection against scratches on hardwood floors: Power Paws should be put on all four feet. Refinishing hardwood is expensive and time consuming. Prevent nail marks with Power Paws.
  • Fashion: definitely put Power Paws on all four paws. All dogs enjoy looking good, and some dogs dress up daily. Power Paws come in colors and designs that compliment every dog’s style and personality.
  • Paw wound protection: put one Power Paws sock on the injured paw, or on all four paws for consistency. Power Paws are so soft and comfortable, dogs tend to leave them (and the affected foot) alone. You may be able to remove the e-collar from your dog’s head – a benefit for dog and owner! Many vets and pet owners have achieved favorable results in this application.

OUTDOOR USES:

  • Protection against salt, snow, and ice: Power Paws have proven to be quite useful in winter conditions. We suggest spraying Power Paws with a couple coats of waterproof spray. Let them dry completely, then enjoy the outdoors with your dog! Power Paws dog socks are machine washable.
  • Protection against extreme heat: such as hot pavement, sand, etc. Power Paws shield sensitive paws from burns. Summer heat does not affect the grip material, and the sock is thick enough to protect paws from heat.
  • An allergy barrier: for dogs that are allergic to dust, dirt, grass, pollen and anything that dogs may step in. When you bring the dog inside, remove the Power Paws and machine wash! You’ve just removed the allergens from your dog’s foot, they have no need to lick their feet, and they won’t ingest the things they are allergic to!
  • To help prevent your dog from slipping in moving vehicles, mobile homes, RVs and boats: Power Paws help to give dogs stability and grip. On a boat, they also protect the teak floors from scratches!

See our care instructions for using Power Paws outside.

From Woodrow Wear’s Why Dog Socks Page

PowerPaws-2Junie would like it known that she had not been groomed this month and was not quite ready for her close-up.  You know how she is about pictures when she is not meticulous. :)

Though I worry about Suki’s paws in the winter, Junie is the one I really get concerned about.  She has a little fur on her paws, but it isn’t as thick as Suki’s, hence trying to find boots that fit her and that she will wear.  I am going to spray the waterproof coating over hers so she can wear these out in the winter.  To be honest, I’ll do it with both of theirs.

PowerPaws-3Both of them wondering why the other one is wearing the other 2 socks that were originally on their feet.  Group shot was a must.

Now, I am not an advocate for declawing cats, I am actually directly the opposite of an advocate, but facts are facts, some cats are declawed.  Whether it was something you had done for your cat and you adopted a declawed cat, tell me how perfect these are too keep your cat’s paws warm if it’s really cold out?

PowerPaws-4

Yes, Damon is wearing pink socks with bones on them.  He has no problems with pink and part of me thinks he thinks he is actually a dog.  It works.

Damon isn’t declawed, so I’m thinking that these wouldn’t stop him from clawing up my bed, BUT, after I trim his nails, I think he would look mighty fine in a masculine pair, that would match his collar that he doesn’t leave on.  At least he left the socks on.

Don’t want to just take my word for it?  Read their testimonial page.  There are tons there, a lot from people with elderly dogs who have trouble getting traction to stand on their own.  I think this is a beautiful product that gives them back some of their mobility.

They also have the Greyhound Edition of the Power Paws for the hare-footed dog breeds (ie: greyhounds and poodles).

They have so many different styles for the male and female dog.  Since this is in my 2011 Holiday Gift Ideas, I must share their Christmas ones!

Junie, Suki, AND, Damon all need those.

And you still have time to get the Halloween pair if you order quickly!

Tell me those are not adorable?

Something very important that makes Woodrow Wear fall into the category of near and dear to my heart is the fact that they offer a special promotional price to rescues groups so they can sell these to their supporters and keep the profits for the rescue (or their dog club), they also offer special pricing to all active members of the military, police, or fire teams.  Thank you Woodrow Wear for this.  It’s sets you apart from many other pet companies!

If you are a groomer or a vet or any other company that works with dogs, they also offer wholesale pricing.

Make sure you read Woodrow’s story too!  What a beautiful dog!

I believe in Power Paws so much, that I am sponsoring a giveaway on Junie’s blog, They All need Saved.  You enter here.

2011 Holiday Gift Ideas – Hair Twisters Pony Tail Wrap

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 12 - 2011

hairtwister-1

Perfect gift idea for Girls, Tweens, Teens, Women, Men with long hair, bikers!

Have you seen these?  Pony Tail Wraps from Hair Twisters?

LOVE them!

Fun unique ways to do something different to your hair.  That is something I am always trying to come up with.  Once you hit say, 21?  Those big bows we used to wear to cheerleading in high school just don’t look as cool anymore.  Flowers are good, but really, do all of your outfits call for hair flowers?  No.

Buns.

I do that all the time.

Braids.

I still do those.

But I always want to do something different.  And this, this is totally something I can share with my girls too.  In fact, they have been begging me to let them use it.  The problem is, I need to buy some more because if one wears it, the other one is mad.  I want to buy that silver one above.

Hair Twisters sent me a mini hair twister to review.  It was perfect for those days when I wanted to pull my bangs out of my face, or what I have left of bangs as I am growing them out again.  I want to buy one in both gold and silver for myself because it will match more of my outfits, but this one is fun, and I had a lot of people ask me where I got it from.  Especially fellow soccer moms with girls.

medieval-1

Hair Twister Purple Rainbow – 4 Inch

medieval-2

Aren’t I cute?  :)

I think my favorite mini twister is the Hair Twister Silver Wildflowers – 4 Inch.

hairtwister-4

These are not cheap little flexible metal things that are going to get bent out of shape.  They are made of sturdy metal and they definitely don’t fall out.  Those pictures of me above were taken after soccer practice.  I coach my daughter’s team, so I am out there moving with them.  Stayed in place the whole time.

That shows you you how simple this is to put in.  Just grab your pony tail, wrap it around the Pony Tail Wrap, and slide the hook in it.  So easy, Katiana (my 7 year old) could do it.

hairtwister-3

I thought that was a really cool idea for bikers.  Not your typical braid or pony tail and nothing is going to come flying out of that.  Your hair is in place even with the wind.

Since it’s breast cancer awareness month, I have to give a shout out for their products that are helping raise $$ for breast cancer.  I love companies that do this.  20% of all the proceeds from the Breast Cancer Awarness Ponytail Wrap – 6 Inch and the Breast Cancer Awarness Ponytail Wrap – 12 Inch are going to National Breast Cancer Foundation.  Thank you Hair Twisters for being a charitable business!

hairtwister-5

That one is made out of cloth.  Very cool!

Want to add a little to your ponytail wrap?  They have charms and bling!

hairtwister-6Oh yes, Twilight fans, they have a

"Twilight Inspired" Cullen Crest Hair Hook – Black

You can choose different Hair Hooks, Charms, Feather Extensions, Jewelry, and even Wholesale for those of you looking for unique items in that category.

for being a product that both moms and daughters can share and if you have a man with long hair – totally cool for them too!  Jordan is waiting for his mohawk to get longer to be able to use one himself.  He’s getting there.

I want to thank Hair Twisters for sending me a Pony Tail Wrap to try out.  We will definitely be getting more.  When I get the Ponytail Wrap Gold – 6 Inch and the Ponytail Wrap Silver – 6 Inch, I am not sharing. :)
