Bound By Night By Larissa Ione
The first installment in a sexy new paranormal romance series by Larissa Ione, author of the bestselling Demonica series!
Nicole Martin was only eight years old when she narrowly survived a massacre: her family’s vampire slaves rebelled and killed everyone in her household. Twenty years later, Nicole now dedicates herself to finding a vaccine against vampirism…and eradicating the gruesome memories that give her nightmares.
Riker, a member of the wild vampire Moon Clan, is haunted by his own demons—his wife Lorraine had been captured and enslaved by the Martin family. It was during a botched escape attempt that she was killed, along with their unborn child. Still wracked with grief and anger, Riker is now fueled solely by the desire to rescue vampire slaves…and slaughter their owners.
When Riker stumbles upon Nicole in a chance meeting, he immediately recognizes her as a member of the Martin family that once enslaved his wife—and she recognizes him as the wild vampire she saw kissing a pregnant slave in the moments before her violent death—an image that has haunted her dreams for years.
When Riker kidnaps Nicole and they spend a night together in a cave on the way back to his clan, suddenly they begin to realize that they aren’t as different from one another as they may have thought—and they’re finding themselves drawn to one another…
I forgot how much I LOVED Larissa Ione! I started the Demonica series years ago, when I first started doing book reviews, and loved it. I’ve fallen behind on that series as I had more and more books sent my way to review. I have to go back and read the ones I have missed. There is a reason that she has been on my favorite author list since I first wrote it up.
Bound By Night reminded me of exactly why I love Larissa’s work. She writes the most amazing paranormal books!
Bound By Night is the first in the Moonbound Clan Vampires series. It was an excellent kick off to this series.
In this world, humans keep vampires as slaves. Nicole’s family has a company that does many many things, including medical research that uses vampires to solve human problems. Most of her family had been wiped out from an attack on her family two decades previously and she is now at the helm. She is working to find a vaccine against vampirism.
Riker and his clan are attempting to get a vampire back that was taken and he recognizes Nicole. He sees her as a part of the family who stole his wife and she sees him as the vampire who killed her nanny.
Riker kidnaps her as their plan to get the missing vampire back goes awry and so the story goes.
I loved all of the members of the Moonbound Clan. I cannot wait for each of their stories, but especially Hunter’s. I’m hoping his is next because we get a little peek into who he is at the end of the book and his story is sure to be amazing.
Riker and Nicole were both two characters that I enjoyed immensely. Each have their own pasts that have them holding themselves back from each other and give them hurdles that they have to jump over or let the hurdle be a road block that stops them from moving forward.
I loved the interactions between those two and between the other vampires. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the paranormal and vampires. Absolutely wonderful read!
Thank you to NetGalley for my copy of Bound By Night. I think this is the start of a new favorite series for me!
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Larissa Ione penned her first novel at the age of 13 and hasn’t stopped writing since. She has been a U.S. Air Force meteorologist, an EMT, and a professional dog trainer, and you never know when one of those interests will pop into her novels.
She lives a nomadic existence with her U.S. Coast Guard husband and son, so her writing career has been a blessing — a job that moves easily.
She writes dark paranormal romance for Grand Central Publishing (formerly Warner Books,) and contemporary romance for Red Sage and Samhain. Under the pen name Sydney Croft, she writes erotic action adventure romance with partner Stephanie Tyler.
