Beam n Read

Beam N Read Hands Free Travel and Reading Light

New edition Beam n Read Hands-Free Light delivers a wide & bright light that lights up 2 book pages and doesn’t disturb others. It’s a true reading light that works with all printed books, Kindles and other eReaders (whether naked, skinned, or covered), PLUS newspapers, magazines, newsletters, loose documents, and other items that can’t support a clip-on light. Worn around the neck, there’s no need to shift it when reading paperbacks.

Included are two 2 special Relaxation Filters: BNR Orange for a softer, warmer light that blocks energizing blue light (especially useful when reading to relax in bed); BNR Red to block blue light and reduce ambient light for sensitive bed partners.

Standard alkaline AA batteries (not included) last an extra long 100 hours, far longer than flashlights and clip-on lights resulting in a lower cost to use (and fewer batteries in the trash). This light is still bright when others have gone dim. Save batteries for when you’re on the go with the optional USB/AC Power Kit with 12 ft of cable that lets you plug into the included USB/AC adapter. Or plug into a USB car adapter/charger, or a computer USB port, or a USB adapter/charger for cell phones, etc.

In addition to reading, this 3 LED hands-free light is great for crafts, travel, and walking in dim or dark places such as an attic, basement, or around the house during a power outage. Use it for writing journals, working, camping, changing diapers at night, and a lot more.

  • For hands free personal light anywhere; extra bright light is easy on the eyes; doesn’t disturb others
  • Wide light from 3 LEDs in a row lights up 2 book pages; works with ALL Kindles, eReaders
  • BNR Orange Relaxation Filter softens and warms the cool LED light and blocks energizing blue light
  • BNR Red Relaxation Filter blocks blue light, reduces ambient light, & helps maintains night vision
  • Alkaline AA batteries (not incl) last Extra Long 100 hours, 3-10x longer than most clip-on lights

Purchase Beam n Read

“I’ve never liked clip-on book lights because they add weight to the book, sometimes fall off, make it awkward to hold the book, and interfere with page turning. The Beam N Read has none of these problems, making them a pleasure to use” –

“The red filter is my favorite. My hubby doesn’t like when I turn on a bright reading light in the dark…It cuts down ambient light, making everyone happy.” –

“The Beam N Read is by far the best personal reading light we have ever come across,” – Scott Carmichael, Executive Editor,

I was given a Beam n Read to review and I have decided it is brilliant.

I am an e-reader typically.  I wasn’t sure how much use I would get out of this until I really delved into it and found the filters.  The amber filter! I love it!  I haven’t used the red filter as much but the amber one I am addicted to.  I noticed a huge difference when I am reading on my iPad mini at night.  Normally I read until I pass out, against all advice I have heard.  (My son’s psychologist for his ADHD told me no screen time for my son an hour before bed.  I said even for reading?  He said yes.  The white light that comes off of the screen keeps our brains moving and stimulated.  While reading a paperback might help you fall asleep, reading from a brightly screen does the opposite.)  One thing I have really noticed since I started using this is my eyes aren’t watering at all while I’m reading at night.  Usually the whole time I am reading, I am fighting my eyes.  I have no scientific reasoning for it, I just know that it has helped a lot.

I do read paperbacks every once in awhile and at night I have to have the light or lamp on because I have bone/joint issues.  It’s not arthritis, though I think this would be amazing for people who have arthritis.  Mine is more my bones hurt all the time, it moves from my ribs to my legs, and is always in my hands.  Holding a large book kills my hands and my wrists because of that.  Add in the weight (no matter how light) of a book light and I am miserable the whole time I am reading.  That’s why I keep the light on.  That never works out well for anyone sleeping in the bed at the time.  This I can just slip around my neck and I don’t have to worry about my hands hurting more or about waking up whichever child passed out in my bed before my husband gets home to move them for me.

My 8 year old has taken to borrowing this every night before she goes to bed.  (I usually have to hunt it down in her room when I want to use it.)  She wanted to be a part of this review also.  Below are her thoughts on the Beam n Read.

The Beam N Read was easy to read to my mom with in the dark when my brother was sleeping.
In the dark sometimes it’s easy to play dolls with the Beam N Read.
It has a little thing that you have to flip backwards with light bulbs in it and it automatically turns on.
Then I can read or play in the dark.
It is so fun to use and it’s something good for parents and children to use.

Notice she’s using it to play with her dolls when she is supposed to be sleeping?  🙂

She has an excellent point.  Those night time bedtime stories told by the light of the Beam n Read vs having a harsh glaring overhead light or a lamp shining is something I really have enjoyed.  It helps them settle down faster.

All in all, I love it.  Alyce loves it!  I’ve been using it for a month now and the batteries haven’t run out yet.  I have the adaptor to plug into the wall, but haven’t needed it yet.

Thank you so much for my Beam n Read!
