 Necessary Sin by Georgia Cates

A Note From Heather

These little notes are becoming too frequent.
I apologize to Georgia and Inkslinger PR.  This was supposed to be up a couple of days ago.
You can see from the lack of New Year’s posts, 2014 top anything posts, etc that I’ve been fighting my computer again.
I’m hoping my display driver will not freeze until I get through a few posts that need to go up.
I’ve tried every fix known to man and I’m now looking at laptops to see if I can swing a new one now.
This computer has been good to me for almost 10 years.
I can’t complain about it’s service to me.

What It's About

An epic tale of revenge and love in a new romantic trilogy from the New York Times best-selling author of The Beauty Series.
Bleu MacAllister is consumed. A horrific childhood incident has caused every decision in her life to revolve around bringing a monster to justice. With years spent studying The Fellowship, a Scottish organized crime brotherhood of liars, thieves, and killers, Bleu will rely on her skills as a special agent to cut Thane Breckenridge off at the knees. But walking hand in hand with retribution means risking collateral damage, in the form of Breckenridge’s son Sinclair–until Sin becomes so much more than Bleu bargained for. She’s always known this undertaking would place her life in danger–she never imagined her heart would be as well.
The Next Sin, Book 2 in The Sin Trilogy, will release February 9, 2015.
One Last Sin, Book 3 in The Sin Trilogy, will release March 23, 2015.

Sinclair Breckenridge’s POV:

“I’m in the business of boundaries and limits. I’m aware of what mine are and how far I’m willing to go to get my job accomplished. It can include lying and sometimes stealing.” I wait a moment for driving the last nail into the coffin. “And perhaps the occasional killing.”

“How do you feel when you do those things?”

“Powerful.” I purposely choose that word because it’s the one she used to describe how she felt when she brought Duff to his knees. I want her to see just how similar we are.

She watches out the window for a minute before speaking again. “Do you like the way it feels?”

I can’t lie. I get a high from it. “Very much.”

Another minute passes. “Okay.”

What? “Just … okay?”

“Would you like me to be horrified?” she asks. “I can do that if it would make you feel better or improve your opinion of me.”

She’s no fucking Pollyanna. So I guess there’s no reason for her to pretend to be. “No. Okay works for me.”

I’m not sure if I should be disturbed by her lack of appall. It feels like a double standard to be shocked by an absence of dismay.

My God, has the pot met the kettle? “I wish I could get inside your head.”

“No, you don’t,” she says. “My mind is a dark place to be.”

I think I may have met the perfect woman. In her eyes, I’m not a monster at all.

MyThoughts

I’m sitting here staring at my screen, trying to think about what I want to write, when all that is going through my head is I have to wait until February for The Next Sin.

Waaah!

That’s a whole month man.

I was completely pulled in from the first page, those moments that described a young impressionable Bleu and the horrific thing that happened to her.  Those events in that short period of time shaped her entire life and brought her to where we pick up in the book.

Bleu is an incredible heroine.  She is strong, going after the justice she wants, and completely capable of taking care of herself.  I loved her! Definitely a Girl Crush Shelf (on Goodreads) addition.  That doesn’t happen often.

Sinclair.  He is Bleu’s way of getting to Thane, he is her key to getting close enough to have retribution for the horror Thane caused so many years ago.

I was iffy in the beginning on how I was going to feel about Sin.  When we first meet him he is an arrogant cocky bastard who is used to getting what he wants.  Lucky for us readers, Bleu wasn’t about to give it to him easily.

These two have chemistry that burns off the pages.  Blue didn’t go to Scotland though to have a fling.  Obviously she can’t fall for Sin. Right?

There is so much going on in this book that I am still questioning.  Sin doesn’t seem like he regrets the things that he does, but he also doesn’t seem like your typical mafia boss (not that they are the mafia).  There are things about Thane that I am left wondering.  I really want to know what led up to that night so many years ago.  Thane left a different impression on me after “meeting” him than I had after the first chapter of the book.

I must have the next book.

Like yesterday.

I know.  I have to wait for it.  I’ll try to be patient.

5 stars!

Thank you so much for my copy of A Necessary Sin!

Meet The Writer

Georgia resides in rural Mississippi with her wonderful husband, Jeff, and their two beautiful daughters. She spent fourteen years as a labor and delivery nurse before she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an author and hasn’t looked back yet.

When she’s not writing, she’s thinking about writing. When she’s being domestic, she’s listening to her iPod and visualizing scenes for her current work in progress. Every story coming from her always has a song to inspire it.
