Wicked Beat (The Sinners on Tour)

From the moment he lays eyes on Sinners’ new front of house soundboard operator, drummer Eric Sticks knows he has to make Rebekah his. Unfortunately, she’s too busy trying to seduce guitarist Trey Mills to pay him much attention. Rebekah never planned to fall for the tall, goofy drummer with the weird sense of humor and a heart the size of the galaxy. But Eric makes her laugh and his constant attention makes her feel sexy and irresistible–exactly what she needs after the things her last lover said to her. A woman who gives as much as she takes, Rebekah makes Eric feel like a total stud–exactly what he needs after surviving a decade of watching the incredibly talented members of Sinners from the wings.

So I was confused after the release of Double Time because Wicked Beat was supposed to be the next book.  Here Double Time was with all of these references to Eric and Rebecca but no book to tell us how it came about.  Talk about a spoiler alert.  All I could find out re: the release out of order was that Oliva was having trouble with her publishing house releasing books out of order.

I forgot that this was coming out soon and surprise surprise, there it was in front of me while I was out shopping release day. I might have been looking at books. It still magically appeared.  Though I’m normally an e-reader, I thought with the price of this one, I’d rather have the physical copy in my hands than on my Kindle app.

Wicked Beat was everything I would expect from an Olivia Cunning book. Hot, steamy, the perfect romance happening before our eyes, rock stars and the strong women who love them, drama, it’s all in there.

I think I would have enjoyed it more if the publishing house hadn’t had their oops and I already hadn’t read in another book how this one would turn out.  There wasn’t that anticipation that I normally have in a book.  That’s why I rarely read series out of order.  If I find one I’m drawn to, I buy the first book and go on through until I get to the one I originally wanted to read.  So thank you to {insert publisher here} for taking some of the magic away from this book for me.

That is not Olivia’s fault though.  I loved Eric and Rebecca’s story just as much as I loved the rest of the Sinners’ stories.  It was a fabulous read that had me fanning myself a few times, one of those, “not now children, mommy’s reading” kind of books.

If you like your rock stars hot and steamy and their women hard to handle, pick up Wicked Beat and the rest of The Sinners On Tour.  You won’t regret it.
