I haven’t done a book review in forever and now two in two days.  It’s not that I haven’t been reading, I read two books yesterday alone, I’ve just been reading for pleasure rather than for reviews.

I have seen this book being recommended on various sites, Facebook groups, through Goodreads, etc and finally said, I have to read this.  I love a good romance and a little steam thrown in makes it perfect.

 Surrender Your Love

Before I get into this, for the FTC (wo)man who might stumble on my blog, I was not asked to review this book, I was not given this book, the author doesn’t know I’m reviewing this book, just sharing my love of a good book.  There is however an Amazon affiliate link.

Meeting Jett was like lightning. Dangerous. Better left untouched. And better forgotten. But lightning always strikes twice.
Brooke Stewart, a realtor in New York, doesn’t do relationships. When she’s sent to a remote estate to finalize a real estate deal, she discovers her new boss is no other than the guy she left naked in bed.
Sexy, dangerously handsome, and arrogant Jett Mayfield attracts trouble, and women, like a lightning rod. But the night he meets Brooke he gets more than he bargained for. The green-eyed millionaire playboy isn’t used to taking no for an answer, and he isn’t about to start now.
When he proposes two months of no strings sex, Brooke is intrigued and accepts his proposal. Little does she know Jett’s determined to claim the one woman he can’t have, pulling her deeper into his dangerous world.
A man who doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.
A woman afraid to surrender to love.
Two lives that are about to cross…and secrets laid bare

I was honestly refreshingly surprised.  I had just finished a book that left me saying, “meh”, and it came from the same recommendations as this one.  I was ready to be disappointed.

I was completely hooked from the first chapter.

It was written well, the dialogue was believable, the man sounded like a man.  The next book that has a man saying I totally want you so much…. I am not reading any further. Seriously, what man talks like that above the age of 15? (No, I didn’t review the book where the man in his 30’s talked like a valley girl from the 80’s, I hate doing bad reviews (I don’t like hurting people’s feelings), I just won’t do them. If it’s on my blog or in the book store, it’s because I loved it.) Back to Surrender Your Love.  That man in this book in this book?  He talked like a man does, he acted like a man acted. Thank you J.C.. Thank you so very much.

I loved Brooke.  I loved Jett. I really loved Jett.

I liked how Brooke had a confident side and, like all women, had her not so confident side, her moments of doubting herself. She was real, like the rest of us.  There wasn’t one moment in the book where I said, “yeah, right, cuz someone is really going to say (do) that.”.  Can you tell I’ve been jaded by a few books recently?

That’s why this book was so refreshing, a much needed change for me.

The story had some steamy moments, nothing over the top that made me blush.  Anyone else do that?  Blush when you’re reading something that shocks you?  Or your mouth literally drops open?  Happens to me all the time.

I didn’t see the ending coming at all.  I can predict the ending in a book 99% of the time by the middle, this one surprised me.  I don’t want to say what I felt, except that I am DYING for the sequel, Conquer Your Love, which is expected to be published on June 1, 2013.  I am so rooting for Brooke and Jett.

There are a few authors that I wait for sequels from,  J.C. Reed just got pushed to the top of the list.
