Christiano’s one-eyed mummy

If you follow my blog, you probably know that Christiano takes a few classes at the YMCA. One of those classes is cooking with kids. He has so much fun while learning about healthy foods in that class.

He made that mummy you see above Thursday at class. It was too cute, super easy, and I had to share it.

Ingredients

  • Whole wheat English muffin<\li>
  • Pizza sauce
  • Olives
  • String cheese
  • Tools

  • Toaster oven (or pizza oven or the plain old oven in your kitchen)
  • Kid’s knife (or plastic knife)
  • Spoon
  • Cut the English muffin in half
Spoon out some pizza sauce and spread on one half of your muffin.
Pull apart the string cheese in thin chunks
Wrap your mummy by laying the string cheese over the sauce
    Cut an olive in half
    Add your mummy’s eyes
Cook until cheese melts a bit in the toaster oven (or whatever you are using)

Christian is 3 and he was able to do all of these steps by himself except for cutting the English muffin in half and cooking it.

One eye and a few pieces of the wrapping didn’t make it into the toaster oven. It’s really hard to stare at your favorite foods (olives and cheese), sitting there right in front of you, while waiting for your turn to have it cooked. :)

Have fun making mummies with your kids!

Great tips! It is fun to watch kids enjoy on halloween, and nothing ever satisfies a parent than to cook for their kids a special treat. Thanks for sharing!
