Shall we?
A long time ago, my fellow blogger, Dragon Blogger posted about his comment policy. I thought it was a fabulous idea and made my own. I’m so glad I did because it gives me moments like this to say, “Really? Why would you post that comment?” Publicly, on my blog. For my own amusement.
I’m sure other bloggers can relate to the following scenario.
I opened up my email this morning to this comment on this post, zip lining at church camp
Now, normally, I go through my comments and it’s: mark as spam, approve, mark as spam, mark as spam, mark as spam, approve, mark as spam, etc. this one made me stop and say, What?
So many things wrong with that comment. I guess, it somehow relates to the post because my post was about church camp. Church camp = religion…. Grasping at straws, grasping at straws… That’s where it ends.
First, where did you get that I was an atheist? From the fact that I sent my kid to church camp? Just sayin’.
Second, when have I ever been pro-trying to cure homosexuality?
I’m going to stay out of a religious debate on this post because this post is in fun, that being said, in this post, I said that as a born again Christian, I feel we were put on this Earth to love one another. I think that should cover my feelings on most topics.
Third, I’m not gay. I’m married to a man. If I was, I’d admit it, but I’m not so I won’t.
Fourth, I happen to believe that if you turn it all over to God he will help you with anything you need help with. What ever it is, people feel they need help with is between them and God, I’ve got my own list of things I need help with. Unless they ask me to pray for them about something, or they need healing, or a catastrophic event has occurred, you know what I mean, I hope.
My friend, name was 3 keywords that I am withholding to protect the guilty or be nice (however you choose to read it), you did not show me that you read the post.
Mark as spam.
Also marked as “used as an example for why you should read the comment policy on a blog before you randomly post comments that are looking for link juice ThankYouVeryMuch”.
Right above the comments it says:
If your looking for link juice, please read my comment policy. I’m Do Follow not Do Spam. Thanks!
You can look, it’s there.
So, who else has a comment policy? And does it help? I’m not sure spammers actually take the time to read a comment policy. I think the ones who read it are the people you never have to worry about to begin with. That being said, it does give you ammo for fun posts like this.
To the next person who posts that I have such a fastidious understanding on this topic, and how they are so amazed because they just can’t grasp this topic fully on a picture of my most recent hairstyle, you have been warned. You too might be featured in your own post.
Have a great day!

I can really relate with you my dear. I had several experiences about prank and anonymous commentators in my blog as well. I remember I had a serious issue with someone. Well, i had this post that tackled about politics and then this commenter came out from nowhere , throwing offensive comments to me. What I mean is, he’s taking it too personal and I think he has gone too far to the point that I can’t bear his trash talking anymore. So what i did is I made a separate entry telling how upset I was because of this commenter….Oh gosh, I don’t know what’s wrong with him but he filled my comment box with his trashy comments. I realized that we just can’t please everybody no matter how nice our approach is. I also learned that I should put all the comments in moderation first so that I know which comments are to be published or not.
Thank you for sharing. By the way it’s nice to be here in your blog. I think i should be here more often to read your posts. See yah!
Louie´s most fabulous post ..Un- Fare to Forget Them…
Louie! Thank you for stopping by! I’ve had a lot of spam, but only one situation where I was offended by the commenter. The original comment was about the blog post, but then he started calling into question my actual faith because we believed two different things. My mom reads my blog and she even got drawn into, ticked off that someone would sit there and spout things off like that.
I agree about moderation. I have all first time commenters moderated or things like the comment I mentioned would have gotten through. I have things in place you can see and those you can’t see, yet spammers still get through. Persistent little boogers.
I hope you do come back!
Ick. Sorry to hear that you had a spammer.
I’ve been spammed a few times on my blog, but it’s all been robot spam, nothing with any negative content.

I want to agree with you and I just have one question. Don’t you think most of the comments are left by people who are brain dead?
Sorry… Couldn’t resist. I’ve gotten that one (or something like it) several times in the last few weeks.
One of my favorites was the one I got that said “Its like men and women are not fascinated until it’s one thing to do with Woman gaga!”
Only thing spammers are good for is the occasional amusement — and that only mildly.
I have a comment policy that’s fairly simple: read the post and make a comment based on it. Beyond that, I don’t have many requirements. I do have a few more things, but that’s the basics of it.
Great post!
Grady Pruitt´s most fabulous post ..Living the Law of Obedience
I’ve come across so many comments like this on blogs and it’s really annoying to actually want to engage in a conversation from someone’s post, but none of the replies make sense. I’m just curious, what do the spammers get out of this? It seems only counterproductive to me because everybody knows spam when they see it and it will only get you blocked by an administrator.
