Not Everyone's Mama Book Store

Looking for something new to read? I've added some of my favorite books to the new book store!

Yes, welcome to my new theme that I am not crazy about.

No room for a fancy header, which at this moment, is a good thing because my pen to my Wacom tablet went missing. I can do a lot of things, but draw a cartoon version of myself with my finger is not one of them.

Why the new theme you ask? I was just about to tell you.

My old theme had a breakdown. Really, it did. I came to my blog one day to find the excerpts on the main page had a huge block of white space between them. Enough that if you weren’t a regular visitor and you didn’t scroll down, you would think that there was only one post on my blog.

Took me awhile to fix that.

After I fixed that, everything that was supposed to go under the blog post, including the comments, were suddenly on top of the blog post, making it unreadable.

I spent hours trying to find the coding problem and even called in my friend Anne from over at Fishbowl Designs to help me find the error.

We came to the conclusion that since my theme never released updates, it just wasn’t compatible with WordPress’s latest update, hence my poor theme’s nervous breakdown.

I needed something simple (because my laptop isn’t strong enough to run my programs I design with) and I needed it quickly. Lo and behold, I found this theme, Esin. I’m sure I will like it more once I get the slider set up, but for now, my blog is kind of plain. There’s a silver lining, it loads much faster now, so yay me!

Moral of this story, if the theme you are thinking about doesn’t release updates, you had better really know how to code from scratch so you can fix it when the WordPress platform releases new updates. I consider myself fairly knowledgable when it comes to code, and with a little help from Google, I probably could have started it over and redone it, but after searching through each file for an error that would cause the problem I was having, I just wanted to start fresh.

I really hope it looks ok to you all on your various browsers. So far I’ve checked it in IE and on my iPad. If there are any issues with other browsers, let me know.

Have a great day!

The best part about your theme is it can utilize easily and it’s very simple. And it looks clearer for everyone, I hope not only for me.

Arjhae, thanks! I think I might leave it like this because it’s loading faster. Not to figure out if there is a problem with pictures loading.

  2. Your new theme is cool. It’s clean and not that complicated. I love the colors and the design. But, there’s one problem. I can’t see some posted pictures.

Hey Larry! Thank you! Is it showing the little boxes that say a photo is invalid? Or are they just not there at all?
