Not Everyone's Mama

When I first wanted to make this, internet wasn’t a huge thing and you couldn’t find everything on it like you can now.  I know, I know, I’m ancient.  So, I made up my own Better Than Sex cake (I had it once before and I just went by what that tasted like and what I like) and it is always a huge hit with everyone and a requested cake for birthdays around here.  It’s easy easy easy and honestly, I like it better than every other better than sex cake I have ever had.

That, my friends, is my better than sex cake.

I threw in a new twist last night and it was awesome!

INGREDIANTS

• 1 yellow cake mix (plus the ingredients for the cake)
• 2 bags of Heath toffee bits
• 1 large box of vanilla pudding
• chocolate syrup
• caramel syrup
• large tub of Cool Whip

DIRECTIONS

Make the cake batter

sprinkle a bag of Heath toffee over the top of the batter.

Use a knife to swirl that into the batter

(that was my new twist)

Cook the cake according to the directions

make your pudding and put it in the refrigerator

when the cake is done cooking take a butter knife and push down and twist in as many spots as you want.  I usually make about 10 holes.

Drizzle the chocolate syrup and caramel syrup all over the top, making sure to get some down into the holes you created.

let the cake cool.

After the cake has cooled

Spread the vanilla pudding over the top of it.

Spread the Cool Whip over the top of the pudding.

Sprinkle the other bag of Heath toffee bits over the top of that.

Drizzle chocolate syrup and caramel syrup over the top

Slice, serve, and try not to die when you taste it.

Yep, now he’s only 7 years younger than me …. until December 15 that is.  Then I’ll be 8 years older than him again.

Color me a cougar I guess.

Yesterday he decided he was throwing himself an impromptu birthday party.  His friend Omar wanted to take the night off to celebrate Pato’s birthday.  Pato thought, let’s grill out.

I have been pretty much useless for awhile with my shoulder out like it is.  The house was trashed.

3 vacuum cleaners and none of them are working right.

Dishes piled up in the sink.

You get the point.

Pato ran to JC Penny’s, they were supposedly having a 75-80% off of everything sale.  Turned out there were no vacuum cleaners left.

I’m not sure what took him so long, but he didn’t get home until 30 minutes before everyone was supposed to be here.

I did what I could, taken breaks in between to give my shoulder some time off, then we busted butt when we got here.

Mom ended up not coming, I couldn’t get a hold of my brother Steve, but my sister Abby and her family and my brother Josh and his family and Omar came.  We had so much fun.  We grilled out and had chorizo, chicken legs, steak tacos, these snowflake cookies that I made into cookie bars.  I made better than sex cake, the recipe is here. 

The boys had VSOP cognac to drink, I had spiked tea. 

I held my little nephew Aiden for awhile, showed my sister how my ring sling worked so she could borrow that, danced around and just had a blast.

My brother Steve just called and said he is stopping by after church to eat cake.  Pato has to work but we might head to his work tonight to eat celebrate there.  I’d make another cake, but I don’t feel like it.  I didn’t have the ingredients yet for Pato’s cake, he brought them home with him 30 minutes before the party started.  Whipped it out in the time it took him to cook and everyone to eat.  Woot woot me!

Then I decided that this Friday, we’d have a sleepover with all cousins who don’t breastfeed.  (Unless of course Aiden wants to have a few bottles of his mama’s milk – he can come too.)  We aren’t sure about the younger ones but I thought pizza, movies, popcorn and all that jazz with Aunt Heather might be fun!

Morgan has been avoiding his mother’s house so he wouldn’t have to face Big Mike. Big Mike reveals that he is proud of Morgan’s new role in the company. After spending months out at sea, he has realized that Morgan’s mother is the source of his happiness, and reveals his intention to propose. Would you have given Big Mike your blessing?

Do you ever sit and wonder during a show what you would do in a certain situation?  This one I did.  You really don’t see something like this happening in time we live in.  At least not in the USA.  Dowries and arranged marriages are gone (that’s a good thing, I think).  Asking permission to marry seems to have flown out the window in most cases too.  I don’t know why, I think that’s a beautiful thing to do.  Neither of my husbands went to my dad and asked for permission to marry me.

What would I have done?  After seeing the Big Mike’s intentions were true, I would have given my blessing.  I really like that twist, letting Morgan judge him worthy of his mother’s love.  Who knows what Big Mike could have been up to and letting Morgan make the decision was pretty cool.
