Alyce’s Prayer

Posted by Heather Manning On September - 9 - 2011

2 Corinthians 4:11 For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

I had to share this.  It was so cute.  So beautiful.  And truly, I think God sighed when he heard this.

Since I figured out that I really truly haven’t been following what I believed and I really truly needed to get back to God and his will for myself and my family, I have been reading the Bible to my children, we have been praying together before they go to school and at suppertime together.  At supper time, I ask the kids if they have anything they would like to say during prayer and Alyce’s prayer was just beautiful.

This is more or less her words.

Thank you God for coming with me to school today and not letting me cry at all.

I didn’t cry at all.

Is that not beautiful?  Her first day she did cry.  It was hard for her.

Yesterday I prayed with her when I dropped her off and asked Jesus to please be with Leecy today, to keep her happy and let her make friends, and just have fun at school.

She did the rest on her own.

My heart just went, awwwww!

Now to get that whole honor thy mother and father thing down.

I’ll leave you with a picture of the sky that I took last season at one of the kids’ soccer games.  I always am so enthralled with how amazing the clouds are.

Have a beautiful day!

The Middle: Too Much To Do At Once

Posted by Heather Manning On September - 9 - 2011

3294be196e_The Middle S2 The Heck’s have their son Axl in football and daughter Sue in cross country. They try their best to attent their children’s events but often disagree on which event they want to attend. Has this ever happened to you and your family, or have too many events and too little time? How did you resolve it?

I swear, that question describes my life perfectly half of the year.  I had 2 kids in soccer up until this season, now I have 3, and just wait, Christiano will definitely be playing soccer.  It’s his favorite thing to do, and if you’ve been kicking the ball since 9 1/2 months, it’s pretty much a given that you will follow in the whole family’s footsteps.

What do I do?  My husband works 6 days a week.  He has Saturdays off.  The girls games are both on Saturdays.  Jordan’s games normally fall on Sundays.  Lucky for me Jordan only has one game on Saturday this season and it is 35 minutes away from Katiana’s game at the exact same time.  I will send Jordan with Pato since Pato rarely gets to see Jordan play, works on Sundays, and always gets to see Katiana play, off on Saturdays.

If the girls’ games are at the same time, but in two different locations, I would call on the grandparents for HELP!  I have been before.  They have taken Jordan to his game in one town while I took Katiana to her game here at home.

I know the first game for Katiana tomorrow falls right after Grasskickers (the kick off for the U5/U6 teams) but she has to be 15 minutes early to warm up.  Thank goodness both are at home.  I’m Alyce’s coach this year, so I’ll send Katiana over to her field when it’s time and Alyce and I will follow her over when we are done with grasskickers.

It’s actually practices that are harder, though this year, not so much.  I scheduled Alyce’s practices at the same time as Jordan’s at the same park.  Katiana’s practices are on Sundays, unfortunately this Sunday, she’s missing practice because Jordan has an away game at the same time.

I am thankful that right now at this point I only have 1 in soccer year round.  Jordan plays 2 seasons of indoor soccer during his off season from outdoor soccer.  Katiana hasn’t shown any interest in that but both of the girls have asked about dance.

Telling you, it’s tough being a soccer mom to more than one (or any sport for that matter).

The Mentalist: Which skill would you want?

Posted by Heather Manning On September - 9 - 2011

In Season 3, Patrick appears to be able to communicate with horses as a ‘horse whisperer’, charm guilty culprits into spilling their secrets and help a hired burglar out of a holding cell in less than 24 hours. Which of Patrick Jane’s skills would you most like to possess? What would you do with that ability?

I am going to go with cold reading.  Not because I want to screw people over by telling them their fortunes.

I already have this little talent or gift from God that is helpful.  When I meet someone, I have this feeling go up the back of my neck, you that feeling when you feel like the hairs are standing up on the back of your neck?  That feeling.  I get that when I meet someone who is going to do something extremely harmful to someone I love.  It’s happened a few times, but the most memorable ones, no one listened to me and 2 of my family members were hurt.  Pato listened to me the last time it happened and I’m thankful that he did.

But how fabulous would it be to be able to truly know a lot about a person, feel if they are good, bad, fake, job interviews, hiring for daycare, etc etc etc.

I have no use for pick pocketing, so I’m going to stick with cold reading.

The Big Bang Theory: Roommate Clause

Posted by Heather Manning On September - 9 - 2011

The roommate agreement.  Don’t you think everyone should have one?  I mean, even if you’re married, I think that is a fabulous idea.

If you go to this site, the author has meticulously outlined the roommate agreement and I think I might have missed a few watching the show.

I’m believing that the

Zombie-bite contingency (you cannot kill the other even if they’ve turned.)

should totally be added to the house rules over here, you know just in case of emergancy.  You never know when the zombie apocalypse is going to break out.

This one is totally going to be added, especially the bolded part.

There are two pieces of tape on the floor in the bathroom. One is in front of the sink and people must brush and floss their teeth from behind this piece of tape. An additional, second piece is in front of the toilet for those that stand up to pee. If someone gets the mirror or floor dirty, before Sheldon’s inspection, they can (and likely will) lose their TV privileges.

That would be me giving dirty looks to one of the males in my house, who I will refrain from naming.

Here are some more clauses that may have been left out from the first link.

You absolutely HAVE to love the dry humor in this show.

Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) play off of each other perfectly!

I can honestly say that none of my roommate situations have ever worked out well.  Possibly because we did not have a roommate agreement, possibly because I came back from the Bahamas to find all my stuff on the front lawn.

Totally not my fault dude.  Ok, it might have been my fault if you remember back to the post I can’t find now about taking a slightly wrong turn down the drug road in my early 20’s, you know it was really truly completely a lot of my own fault. :)

I also think they are a lot smarter than my friends and I were, unless I missed an episode where they were drunk and one roommate drew a funky rose on the other roommate’s leg with a huge wide permanent marker while the other roommate got out her boyfriend’s tattoo equipment and tattooed it on.
