Not Everyone's Mama

I am so behind period.  I have tons of pictures from my phone because I’ll admit it, I have been horribly lazy about getting my camera out, but I just got the HTC Evo 4G and it has something like an 8MP camera so the pictures are great, after I figured out that I could adjust the coloring on them before I took the picture.  Jordan’s pic is a little washed out because I didn’t catch that until later.

My rock star off to 6th grade.  His first year in middle school.  His first year at the school I graduated from.  (It used to be the high school, now it is the middle school.)  I was so proud when he walked up there, I couldn’t hardly stand it.  He is doing so well. Making friends, watching girls giggle as they talk to him, sit by him, bump into him on purpose in the hallway.  I have been praying so hard for Jordan to not see a twisted reflection of himself in the mirror.  I want him to see himself the way God made him, beautiful handsome Jordan.  I want him to have confidence as he walks down those halls so that others can see that handsomeness, that confidence that God has placed in him.  He really truly is an amazing boy…. I suppose I should say young man. Can you believe that Jordan is going to be 13 in February?  1 and 1/2 years until he can get his driver’s permit.  I could cry.  Seriously.  Thinking about how fast he is growing up?  It makes me weepy.  I’m a very lucky mama. 

My little gorgeous angel….. sometimes…. Katiana.  She was off to her first day of 2nd grade at her new school.  We are in the same district as before, but she goes to a different elementary.  She just happens to now go to school with her best friend Olivia.  They have been BFFs since preschool.  They aren’t in the same class, but they spend their recesses together.  Her teacher called me yesterday and told me Katiana is doing fantastic.  She is happy and making friends and just being the beautiful Katiana that God is helping her to be.

I tell you guys, seriously.  I am just so happy.  I look at my children, and so much more often now, I am just amazed that God loaned me these precious little humans to raise and to take care of.  All of my children are just so wonderful.

Now to keep on working on them respecting and obeying me.

I never said it happened over night.

Another fabulous show that I am just starting to get into.  Here’s the question: If a version of you existed in an alternate universe, what kind of different decisions would the alternate you make?

If I have to share, so do you! I expect lots of comments on this one.

Honestly, right now, I am so fantastically happy, back with God where I should be, there isn’t a lot of things I would change.  One thing, possibly, control my temper more.  I hate when I lose my temper and last out at family.  I am getting so much better at that, but, I still lose it every once in awhile, and I still let myself feel stressed out.  I am learning to turn that over to God but sometimes Heather just really lets go.

Before?  I would have changed so many things before about myself.  You see, I gave up for quite awhile.  Hence, no blogging, no digital scrapbooking, no playing with my kids like I should have been, not keeping up with the house, because I gave up.  I would have consciously made the decision to keep trying.  I would have never have turned away from God, from I have always known to be the truth.

It’s made a huge difference in my outlook on the world.  I’m back to seeing the beauty in everyone, noticing the beauty in creation, the beauty in each person.  Thinking (most of the time) before I say something so as not to hurt anyone.  The tongue is a mighty weapon.  Mine was really really sharp.

Who watches Nikita? That is one fabulously sexy kick butt woman.  Underestimated because of her beauty and her stature, she always proves them wrong every single time.

I am sitting here trying to think of a time when I have been judged for my looks and the only thing I can come up with is that, I don’t look like your average soccer mom.  3 facial piercings, always doing something different with my hair, funky wild curls, and my eye make up is always extremely dramatic.  I don’t look like I should be sitting on the sidelines.  I wonder if people look at me instantly and think of things that I might be doing.  Things that are associated with tattooed pierced up wild women.  Drugs, alcohol, sex. 

Nope, not me.

I think when people get to know me better that they find out that inside I am not dark at all.  I am very light, usually happy, fun to be with, and very easy to get along with.  Not dark or broody or sullen at all.

I’m a happy mom to 4 kids, yes a mom that you will find sitting on the sidelines of a soccer game all spring and fall.  I do know that I have gotten looks as I pass with my 2 boys in Mohawks and me looking as I do.  Kind of a, what the?  What is she doing here maybe?
