Yep. That’s how it is at my house right now.
I didn’t get to blog yesterday because honestly, I was feeling like warmed over dog doo doo. For real. Still am.
This is how my week has been.
Jordan is on antibiotics and home from school Tuesday.
Katiana was home sick Thursday.
I got it the day before yesterday and still felt like crud yesterday, worse today.
Christiano started having some gunk come out of his eye yesterday afternoon and by last night his eye was starting to swell. I was trying to put him to bed and he was throwing himself back and forth moaning and groaning and rubbing his eye and crying. I gave him ibuprofen which he got mad about and spit all over. Totally not Nano behavior. It’s Kat I have trouble getting medicine down. Not him. I was going to wait until today to take him to the doctor but within an hour his eye was twice the size it was and he was begging to go to the dr. Seriously. My 23 month old kept saying doctor. When I said do you want to go to the doctor? He said yes. Got off the bed and went and found his boots. He was so miserable.
Could you say no to that face?
I decided to take him because if it had swelled that quickly in 1 hour, what was it going to look like in the morning?
We went to the ER at the new hospital by us. My lord, so fast. Between check in and the doctor diagnosing? 7 minutes. No joke. I had to wait longer for registration than the doctor.
He has pink eye, obviously and periorbital cellulitis. It’s usually caused by a minor trauma to the tissue around the eye (none) or a sinus infection (not surprising, we are all sick). The dr told me the same thing that the site did, it’s a good thing I brought him in because it’s rare, but there can be some serious complications with it. She wants him rechecked by his doctor first thing Monday. Aye aye captain. She also mentioned to the kids that they need to wash their really good or this will spread through all of them like wild fires. Lovely. Pass the germ x.
There he is when we left the hospital. You can’t see how red his eye really was. But at least he’d stop crying and let me clean it finally. I’m calling this my project 365 picture for yesterday. I took another one but I don’t like it.
That little duck cracks me up. You know my husband’s nickname is Pato. That means duck in Spanish. When he got that Webkinz I said, es el Pato. Now he calls it his daddy ducky. And he carries it when he is upset.
Last night Christiano was up rolling and turning and crying most of the night. Pato and I took turns rocking him. He finally fell into a deep sleep at 6. He got up at 10 and his eye looks a little better after 2 doses of antibiotics and 1 dose of the eye drops. I just gave him his morning dose of oral antibiotics and put the eye drops in his eye which he totally doesn’t appreciate it.
I’ve been dosing him with Tylenol and ibuprofen for the pain every 4-6 and 6-8 hours.
I’m tired.
And still coughing up a lung.
Oh well, this too shall pass. Right?
Have a great day!

Aw man! I sure hope that you all feel better soon! At least Christiano knew to ask you to take him to the doctor!
My 12 year old had to take almost a week off from school in November due to sinusitis and both ears infected along with bronchitis. About 2 weeks after that, hubby had bronchitis, and then 1 week later, I got diagnosed with bronchitis. I’m still trying to shake it, and I think that I ended up with a sinus infection recently—thank heavens that I was still on an antibiotic for the bronchitis at that time!

Pobresito! My poor little grandson! My heart goes out to him. I, too, am glad he is able to tell you how bad he felt. That was one thing I hated when you kids were young and couldn’t tell me what was wrong.
