It’s A Conspiracy

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 11 - 2011

January-2011-3 I’m telling you.  It is.  The superintendents of our school and of the Des Moines and West Des Moines school district get together on snow days and force us out on the roads.  I’m not putting my kids on the bus, thanks.

We have 7-8 inches on the ground.

Every school around us is closed or delayed except the big 3 mentioned above.   When I drove Katiana to school this morning I had trouble on my road.  I had trouble on the main road.  My wheels spun a bit here and there.

My sister said the school bus (for the same district) that goes by her house got stuck in the road and her driveway and was spinning it’s wheels.

When I was listening to Van & Bonnie on the way to school all they were talking about was accidents (in the metro area) and black ice and school closings.

I didn’t catch where this was at, but I’m assuming on the interstate.  A lady (probably) spun out (I missed the beginning) and a snow plow driver whipped his snow plow in front of her car so that she wouldn’t be hit by other cars coming at her.  How brave is that?

Another guy called in and said on the interstate near where we are 3 cars spun out on black ice right in front of him.

Then the snow plow driver who blocked the lady’s car called in and said the roads are covered in black ice.  Be careful out there.

But let’s go to school!

I was talking to Amanda over at Confessions From HouseholdSix and she said you’re the parent.  If it’s not safe out, call them in.  I’ve always wondered if the kids would get in trouble for me doing that.  That’s why I don’t put them on the bus on days like today though.  It’s not safe out and I’d rather have them in my car under my control then in the bus under someone’s control I don’t know.  Though I’d rather not have them in a car period today.

I have to pile all 3 of the others into a car also.

Jordan has a doctor’s appointment at 1:30.  I think he’s got another ear infection.  He’s missed so much school this year.  He’s also had a boatload of tardies.  I didn’t get that at all.  I drop them off at the same time or they ride the bus together.  I didn’t realize he had all of these tardies until I got a letter in the mail from the assistant principal.  I was like, oh no.  You want to tell me how he has tardies and Kat doesn’t?  Once I drop him off or he gets on that bus, he’s in your hands.  You should know where my kid is.  He’s in elementary school, not high school.  Turns out he spends a lot of time in the bathroom in the mornings.  I’ll spare you the details but it’s a good thing he has an appointment with a pediatric endocrinologist on the 21st.

That’s all from me this morning.

Have a great day!
