Just saying’.
Some parent might want to talk to their child about being a gracious loser.
Mine is.
At least in front of me.
When he loses if he beats up on anyone, it’s himself. And I think he is too hard on himself when they lose.
But, last night, they won. In fact, they’ve won every game that Jordan has played in indoor soccer. (They lost the last game by 1 goal, Jordan was home sick….coincidence….we’d like to think not.)
Jordan was not scored on once. None of our goalies were scored on period last night. We scored 5.
Little red haired girl was a little ticked that Jordan blocked every shot she went for.
She was disrespectful to the ref to start off. Anytime the ball was kicked out and the ref would say green (green kicks in, that’s us) she would throw her hands up in disbelief. We’re talking 11 year olds here people. Every time. And the ref had it right. Every time. You didn’t see our players throwing their hands up when he called red.
At the end of the game when you line up to say good game good game good game good game (with about that much enthusiasm) and slap hands, she was a tad disgruntled. She smacked Jordan’s hand hard (I mean, hard. Hurt my hand when he showed me how hard, burned for a bit) and then stomped on his foot, grinding her heel, like she was trying to kill a huge bug. Child is lucky she didn’t pull that with cleats on. (Indoor soccer shoes are slightly less dangerous than outdoor.) Ok, so it would have been silly to see me running up to her and asking her what the heck she thought she was doing to my son, but dude, can we say sore loser?
Jordan said she smiled at him all sarcastic like and he smiled back with a huge grin that said, yeah, you couldn’t get a shot by me. So sorry about that.
Love that child.
Mine – not the red haired girl.
When she walked off to her mom, she was saying how she wanted to go off on the ref because he kept calling the ball for our team. Her mom didn’t say a darn thing to her about good sportsmanship.
Guess not all of us raise our kids to be gracious winners AND losers.
Oh well. We do what we can with our own and that’s all we can do, right?
Have a great night!
(Sorry I’ve been blogging in the evening instead of the morning. I have completely gotten off schedule somehow. Between Christiano and his runny nose and all the kids’ stuff, I am completely off.)
