Do You Follow Trends?

Posted by Heather Manning On November - 11 - 2010

I was thinking about this when doing my make up this morning.  It’s freezing out.  When it gets to be cold, you see a lot of eye make up colors that are purple, blue, burgundy, those deep shades.  I however was in the mood for orange.

I have a bright orange.  I love it.

Do you wear bright orange in November? Or is it just a summer color?  I went with it.  But, I toned it down.

eye-1

See.  I didn’t put it on as dark and blended it with other colors.  That’s ok right?

eye-2

Cell phone pics.  Sorry.  I was on my way out the door.

Alright, so tools used on the eyes –

The orange is Tangy #8 from Jane.  I don’t even know if that make that color any more.  If they don’t, I will be very sad when I run out.  It’s one of my favorites.  I use it with blue a lot in the summer.

The white above is the white from the quad Rocker from E.L.F.

The gold in the middle is Vintage Gold from Mary Kay.  That’s another one that you do either really light or really really dark with a smoky eye.

I used the classic brown Cover Girl smudging pencil, which is my stand by.  Then Mabelline’s Great Lash mascara.

I kind of like how it came out.

So do you follow fashion trends/rules?  Or do you say who cares about the rules, I’m going with what I like.

I’ll use skinny jeans as an example.  They were in again.  I have hips that have born 4 children – not to mention a chest to match.  Opposite of that, I have tiny calves.  When I wear skinny jeans I look like this big orange that stands on popsicle sticks.  I stick with flares or boot cut.

I’m not saying I don’t follow the trends, but I try to take that and make it something that I like and am comfortable in, otherwise I won’t wear it.

When it comes to make up though if I feel like wearing a dark eye for breakfast, I do.  If I feel like having a pale look for going out at night, I do it.  I never pay attention to what colors are supposed to be worn when.  If I want to wear light pink polish in December and dark blue in July, I do it. :)

And if I want to do something like this, even though some might think I am too old for it –

November-19Oh yes I did.  I got the Monroe piercing.  Right at this moment, I look like a pin cushion because they have to use such a long bar to account for swelling when they pierce it.  But, after the swelling comes up, goes down, and it’s healed, I’m going to put a tiny crystal in it.  I’ve wanted one FOREVER.

Lasting Impressions was having a promotion today.  Free piercing, jewelry included.  Who can turn that down? Ok, you might be able to, but I couldn’t.

Now if the swelling would go down and it would heal by Saturday night.  :)   I have my sister’s mother-in-law’s bachelorette party.  Party bus.  Never been on one of those.  Looking like a pin cushion was not part of the plan. :)

Oh well.  It’s what I wanted and I’m stoked that I was able to do it without Pato complaining about spending money on it.  He almost went and got his eye brow done.  He said there was too long of a line to get it done on break, so he missed out.

May I say, that hurt more than I expected.  More than my nose.  More than my upper ear.  Definitely hurt more than the belly button that I’ve had done twice and is now closed, again.  Darn pregnancy belly anyway.

My eyes watered.  A.Lot.  But I didn’t cry.

Thought about it when I saw mullet girl out front pull a knife on the guy standing next to her.  Put it right up to his neck. Then ha ha ha’d it.

Downtown Des Moines.  Full of color and vibrancy and all types of people.

Have a great day!

You`re braver than I am chicky. Part of me wants my nose done, but I know I would cry like a girl. LOL

I’ll tell you, the nose hurt. I won’t lie. It wasn’t horrible though. Wouldn’t suggest doing it in the winter with cold season. Blowing your nose sucks while it’s healing. LOL The monroe I didn’t think would hurt that much because everything I’ve read said that it shouldn’t. To me that hurt way more than my nose did. It’s nice and swollen today. Nothing sticking out like in my picture. Smart piercer. LOL

Your such a cool chick. I like your Monroe piercing I’ve been wishing to have like that haha :) but I’m scared because I know it hurts unless you are so brave enough to ease the pain nevertheless, I appreciate it.
