Quite Possibly The Cutest Thing Ever

Posted by Heather Manning On October - 13 - 2010

Well, at least the cutest thing Christiano has ever done.

Last night I was asking the kids (over and over again) to get going on their chores.  All of a sudden Katiana said, Jordan!  Did you know daddy brought home brownies?

I said, yeah he did.  FOR ME! (Come on, I know I’m trying to lose weight, but like you don’t crave something at certain times on the month? Better than stopping at the cigars stores to pick up an old habit, I think.  Chocolate doesn’t cause cancer.)

Alyce said for me too!

I had just asked Christiano to bring me a diaper and the wipes and he forgot all about those.

Me too!

Nano, get me a diaper and the wipes.

Me too!

Nano, get me a diaper and the wipes.

Me too!

3 more times.

You are not eating my brownies.  You become a chocolaty mess.  Nope.  They are mine.  Mama don’t share chocolate between the 11 and the 18 of any given month, thanks!

I had planned on calling my mom already before all this started, so I said, I’m going to call grandma and tell her you’re not listening to mommy.

He took off running for my bedroom.  I honestly thought he was going to go get the wipes and a diaper, you know so grandma wouldn’t know he was being naughty.

:)

(I should probably interject here that grandma isn’t scary.  Rarely is grandma anything but the person my children run too with open arms to hug.  There’s been a few times that she has talked to the kids when it’s been a rough night, but she is much much less scary than mommy is.)

I was on the phone with mom, telling her the little me too story, when Christiano comes out holding something.  He ran up to me to show me what it was.  It was a wallet size picture of my mom and dad that he’s been carrying around.

Grandma! (or Grma – or however he says it.  It’s different every time.  It’s better than how he says grandpa.  That comes out dam-pa half the time)

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww!  You can’t be mad when they do something so stinking adorable.

Katiana brought me a diaper and the wipes.

In other news, soccer practices were a bust last night.

Why, if it is going to start storming, can it not start before I get hair and make up done.  Possibly before I get 4 kids ready.  It could even start right before I get all 4 kids loaded in the car?  It was sprinkling at that point.  I had a feeling they were going to be canceled, and I was right.  I was almost to Jordan’s practice when it started pouring on us.  Almost immediately I got an email from Katiana’s coach that practice was canceled, that the radar looked nasty.  10 seconds later, my phone rang and it was Jordan’s coach.  Practice canceled.

On the plus side, Christiano fell asleep in the car and got a little nap out of the way.

He’s been refusing them lately.

What 19 month old doesn’t need a nap?

Not right.

Taylor (my niece) had asked if Jordan could go to Tae Kwon Do with her last night as her guest.  I called Shelley and asked her if she still wanted Jordan to go.  Yep.  Turned the car around, dropped Jordan off at their house.  He went with them and had a blast.

I need to renew my membership for the Y so he can start taking the classes regularly.  I had a membership when Katiana was a baby.  Jordan went to Little Ninja’s class.  I went to yoga and to work out.  I stopped going because a – Katiana was my first child that would get severe separation anxiety.  (It has continued on with the other 2.  Alyce had it the worst.)  I’d just get into the first position and the nursery staff would come get me because she was out of control.

b – she got incredibly ill there.  I don’t understand why people take their kids to the nursery, to day care, send them to school, etc when they are sick.  Why expose a whole bunch of people to that?  What started out as a cold quickly progressed into pneumonia with an ear infection on the side.  One of the medicines she was on was a sulfa med.  Turns out she is allergic to sulfa.  She was covered in this horrible purple rash from head to toe and was even more miserable.  That was the first time also that she had to use a nebulizer.  It wasn’t the last.  Anytime Katiana gets sick, we have to pull out the albuterol and the nebulizer.  She hasn’t been diagnosed with asthma yet, but I have a feeling she has it, brought on by sickness.

She was in the ER a couple of times.  It was horrible.

I called them to let them know that she had it.  I’ve always been like that.  As soon as I find out that my kids have something serious, I let the school know, I let anyone know that may have been exposed to that in case other kids have symptoms.  The lady I talked to told me that she wasn’t the first one.  The week before there had been tons of kids in with bad colds and a couple of others came down with pneumonia before Kat was diagnosed.

PSA time – if you’re sick or if you’re child is sick, please stay home.  I’m sorry if you’re going to miss work (or working out).  I’m sorry if you’re boss will get mad (or if you feel like a pile of poo because you didn’t work out).  Ok, honestly, I don’t care that much, unless of course you will lose your job over it – in this economy, that’s rough.  I’d feel bad.  What I REALLY care about though is the fact that your child went to where mine was and exposed them to whatever mysterious germies yours is carrying around.  It really makes me mad when it’s my child who tends to get sick a lot easier and who, when she gets sick, tends to get knocked down harder by it than my other kids is exposed to something that could have been prevented by common sense. She’s like me, a cold for normal people turns into bronchitis and an ER trip for oxygen for us.  I know there are some viruses whose symptoms don’t show up until after they are already contagious (hello roseola), but still.  If your child has goopy green crap running out of their nose, caking their face, and a fever?  Don’t expose my kids to it. Please?  Thanks!  I don’t take my children out places or send them to school like that, I wish other people would do the same.

So far, since the weather turned a couple of weeks ago (and then turned nice again), Christiano has had roseola and Katiana has run a fever, started having a cough at night that has me on alert, and has had 2 separate days where she was throwing up.  Luckily, one of those was over the weekend, so she hasn’t missed much school yet.

Vent done.  Don’t you love my tangents?

Jordan went to his first league game with Pato last night.  They were late getting home (it was about 12:30 instead of 12).  It worked out ok though.  I had Jordan take his shower before they left and he slept until almost 8 this morning.

When I woke him up, I got the whole just 5 more minutes mom thing.

I said, if you do not get up, get dressed, and have your butt outside by the time that bus pulls up, you will not be allowed to go with Pato again.

Jumped right out of bed, got dressed, and was outside before the bus pulled around.

I haven’t had a chance to talk to him about it yet because I sent him straight to bed when he got home.

He was in an awesome mood this morning though, so I assume he had fun.

Have a wonderful day!

Nano is such a sweetheart! He does love me, doesn’t he? I’ll have to give him an extra smooch for how cute that was. Obviously he’s not afraid of me.
