**CLOSED**
I had to close this early as I received an email from the sponsor saying they needed the winners address by 9/30. I am so sorry! I didn’t realize this when I posted the giveaway and didn’t adjust the date accordingly.

Winner is kamoons!

The numbers are missing from my comments and the spacing is messed up, so while I am working on that, I had to pick a winner for this giveaway. I scrolled my mouse up and down as Alyce waved her magic finger in the air, then she alacazammed it, and her finger landed on kamoons! Congratulations! I will be contacting your for your address.

The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premier

Watch out – the boys finally get their own DVD! Get more Penguins, more Madagascar and more fun with the world debut of The Penguins of Madagascar Operations. Their mission? To maintain order in the zoo. Their nemesis? Their obnoxious neighbor, King Julien. Join Skipper and the crew as they outwit anyone and everything crossing their path as they rule the zoo.

Finally I am getting caught up after the last month or so from…well, a very warm place!  I was sent The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premier along with a box of General Mills Trix cereal to review!

Ok, I don’t know who doesn’t like Trix.  Those get a huge thumbs up from everyone in my family.  I’ve been eating those since I was a kid.  Come to think of it, I still say, silly rabbit, Trix are for kids, now at 35. :)

I’m never a huge fan of cereal box toys because it’s just more stuff to have scattered around, but the kids had fun with them for a day or so before they were scattered all over the house and I started tossing them.  (There’s a rule in our house, if I find little toys all over, they get thrown away.)

Like I said, the cereal was a huge hit, it always is.  And the movie, the movie my kids love!  My husband now repeats the phrase, who let the stinkiness out all the time.  Thank you King Julien.  The movie is really cute, the penguins are always up to something.

Let me let my kids tell you what they thought.  (It’s a tradition on kids’ stuff here at this blog, we let the kids tell you what they really think!)

Alyce (3 years old):  It was AWESOME!  (Note from mom – AWESOME is capitalized to show you that she just screamed that at me.) Skipper!  That one (pointing at the screen)!  Skipper!  He’s my favorite penguin in the world!  I love penguins, I love penguins, I love penguins! Jumping up and down.

Katiana (6 years old): I like King Julien because sometimes he gets all funny, and then like there’s this little guy, Mort, he’s really funny because there’s this blow hole (Dr.), and he’s funny.  King Julien got these little crabs, they took King Julien, and he turned into the evil guy, then he turned back into a good guy.  Mort was going crazy because he really wanted to know where King Julien was.  He was really funny.  They did like this spy thing, and there’s this other one, the gray one, Maurice, he was really nasty in one of them.  He made the King a smoothie, and he didn’t like it, so he said make me a new one.  So he stuck it in Mort’s mouth, grabbed him, shook him up, made him spit it out, put ear wax on the cherry, it was nasty!  And then the King ate it and he liked it.

Jordan (11 years old): My favorite part of it is Truth-Ache.  Skipper and his team go out on a mission and the mission is called Sneaky Peak.  They go out at night and they spy on every other animal in the zoo. They take videos and then once they get back to their HQ and lock it up in the vault.  Skipper said that the whole mission was just to have the upper hand when they have a chance to attack.  He said friends are just enemies without a tactic, but when they do we’ll have the upper Flipper on them.  After they have the stuff in the vault, Private the next morning when they do their exercises, he’s not doing very well because he stayed up all night thinking about the operation.  Skipper said to skip the work out and go get some grab.  He goes down to HQ and finds a pile of fish, but it’s too plain.  He finds a bottle of hot sauce, pours it on the fish, and eats it all.  Then everyone comes downstairs, Skipper asks what was in the hot sauce.  Truth serum.  Kowalski said, everyone knows you put Truth Serum in hot sauce.  I put amnesia mist in the ketchup.  Skipper says, what’s mustard.  Kowalski said it’s a tangy condiment you put on your hot dog.  Then he squeezes it, mmm, smells delicious.  Then Maurice screams help because Mort got stuck in the pop corn machine.  Everyone celebrates.  Then they say why are you leaving?  Skipper says, big fish to fry.  Private ate the truth serum, and can tell when people are lying, and said no you don’t.  Then everyone asks why are you leaving………..

That story goes on forever, you must watch the movie before Jordan gives you all the spoilers!!

As you can tell, all 3 kids loved the movie!  I am able to giveaway a The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premier prize pack to one of my readers!

What Did You Dream Of?

Posted by Heather Manning On September - 13 - 2010

So, when I was younger, I wanted to be a singer a la Debbie Gibson.  Not that there was a chance of me becoming famous for it, but I did major in vocal performance and go to school on a vocal scholarship, so there was hope.  It never happened obviously since I am now a stay at home mom to 4 crazy kidlets, but it was fun to think about it.

When I was 14, I wanted to sing, open for New Kids On The Block (who am I kidding, when I was 14 I was totally going to marry Joey McIntyre, yeah, you were going to marry one of them too, admit it!), hang with Debbie.  We were going to tour, have throngs a screaming fans, I even practiced signing my autograph – Rock The Beat! Heather Manning.  I cannot believe I just admitted that on my blog.  I was 14.  Let it go please.  :)

I eventually grew up, had kids, went the whole get married/become a stay at home mom route, but if I had to have my own entourage today, I would totally take a few friends along for the ride: my sister Abby, my long time (since junior high) BFFs Angie and Danielle, my friends Mashara and Diane (she’d be the one to keep my feet planted on the ground), and my SIL, Shelley, who brings out the crazy in me.  (Ask the lady who gave me a dirty look today after she walked behind my car while I was pulling out.  A little Shelley came out of me when I told her that I wasn’t about to hit her and she could take her dirty looks and shove them……or something like that.)

That would be my entourage.  Actually, that is my entourage.  Those are my people I turn to, the ones who help me.

We’d of course hang with Robert Pattinson, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder, because you know all those gorgeous men would just flock around me.

<cough cough>I.Can.Dream.Right?<cough cough>

2b476c60fe_Entourage.GUYS_R3.finoutSpeaking of Entourage, there’s a nice looking one.  Adrien Grenier is yummy.  Just saying!  I could add him to my cast of characters above.

Kind of happy, I’ve watched a few episodes of Entourage here and there, but you that whole No Cable Thing?   It kept me from watching this regularly.  Now, it’s coming out every night.  5 nights a week of Entourage!  For me it’s on at 1:30 AM on KDSM (Channel 17).  I’m up that late 90% of the time anyway, though I shouldn’t be with 2 kids to get up and ready for school in the morning.  I plan on tuning in as often as I can.  Get all caught up on the Entourage.  You can check your local listings here.

I have been hired by Warner Bros WBWord division to raise awareness for ‘Entourage.’

Woodstock and His Best Friend

Posted by Heather Manning On September - 13 - 2010

Before I get to the pictures of Woodstock and his best friend, I have to show you this video.  I was on the phone with Pato last night, Christiano decided he wanted to talk.  He took the phone and started saying Boom Boom Pow.  Boom Boom Pow.  I had to get it on video.  He had to be coaxed to say it again, but once he started going, there was no stopping him. Every time he watched the video he’d repeat it.  (This was recorded on my cell phone, for some reason his the sound isn’t lining up with the video, but you get the point.)

Jordan and I were cracking up!

Now for some pictures.  I’ve told you about the vampire bird who is supposed to be a lovebird with everyone but Katiana.  She can carry that bird around upside down and he doesn’t care.  I don’t get it.  I mean, I do get it.  Sometimes a bird picks an owner, and Woodstock picked Katiana.  They are the bestest of friends, except for when he doesn’t want to go back in the cage.  Does he bite her neck like he does mine?  No, he just plays you can’t catch me with her.

She has star student coming up and she wanted some pictures with Woodstock, so here they are.

Can you not tell they are bestest buds?

She decided after that that it wouldn’t be fair to have pictures with Woodstock and not Twinkle.  Twinkle loves Kat (and everyone else in the family) but Twinkle loves to fly more.  Kat has to hold her to get her to stay, unlike Mr Woodstock above who will perch on her for an hour.

September-9

Aren’t they cute together?

September-13

Twinkle was ready to go here.  One snap of the picture and she was off doing laps around the place.  She cracks me up.

Here’s a few more pics we snapped with my cell phone yesterday.

I am not sure what is up with Christiano here, but oh well.

(Look, a good paintshop pro script is almost as good as a good acne face wash! Kidding, I don’t run scripts on my cell phone pics often.)

Sung to the tune of me and my shadow – me and my biiiiiiiiirdie! Who was looking for my wedding ring.

I think I have a few more stashed away.

Jordan

Those were at Kat’s game on Saturday.  Every time I took a picture of Kat, she managed to turn her back to me.

Last thing, promise!  I have to tell you about Jordan’s soccer game yesterday, which was so exciting, I forgot to get my camera out to take pictures (and because Nano was all over the place).

We played what was in my time, our town’s biggest rival.  Jordan played fullback (defender) first half.  When they put Jordan in at half as goalie, we were behind 4 – 1.  Jordan now has 3 games in a row where he has not been scored on.  It was awesome!  Our forwards picked up the pace the last bit of the game and we pulled ahead 5 – 4.  A few minutes left in the game, and one of the boys on the other team is headed towards our goal.  He was determined.  You could see it in his face.

He got past our defenders and it was just Jordan and him.  If this linebacker of an 11 year old (he was taller than me – ok, I’m only 5’4”, that’s not saying much, but he was a lot taller than Jordan and built like a brick poop house – yep we keep it clean here) got by Jordan the game would be tied.  I could see Jordan’s face as this kid is barreling towards him and it was full of “what should I do?”.

I thought this kid would take the shot farther out like most of the kids do, but he just kept coming.  Jordan came out of the goal a bit to get in position, the kid kept coming.  At about 5 feet from the goal Jordan and him were chest to chest.  I was not sure what was going to happen, they were to close to the goal and he was to close to Jordan for Jordan to maneuver well.  This kid swung his foot back and Jordan dropped on the ball, got both hands on it.  SAVED!  Then he got kicked in the knee full force because the kid didn’t have time to stop his momentum.

My heart stopped when I saw Jordan drop.  All I could see in my head was this kid kicking Jordan in the head.  When Jordan got his hands on the ball, you should have heard the crowd.  The opposing side let out groans of disgust, there was no where they were going to win now, and our side went nuts yelling Jordan!!!!!!

The best part?  That linebacker of a kid?  His name is Hunter.  He was the little boy that used to be so cruel to Jordan when he was in preK at that school.  At the end of the school year when Jordan came home with an imprint of this kid’s teeth on his arm that lasted for days, I was done.  I called the school resource officer.  The teachers and principal were so mad at me.  You called the cops on a 6 year old?  You’re not protecting my child.  I’ve asked you over and over again to fix this.  My husband has talked to his parents, nothing is working.  My son comes home with a mark like that after repeated requests to stop this, da*n straight I called the school resource officer.

The next year we moved to our school district and we haven’t seen that kid since then.

It was awesome to see Jordan beat him on the field, fair and square, no foul play.

Have a great day!

(I added 2 new giveaways last night, plus the thumb sucking giveaway (very low entries!!!).  I’ll get some more up tonight!  Things have finally calmed down to get back to blogging seriously.)
