mOmma Products For Baby

Posted by Heather Manning On August - 26 - 2010

I had never heard of mOmma products before.  When I opened up the box that arrived for us, I was so excited!  You see, I’m one who likes things that look cool.  These products look so sweet!  Very innovative in design and just tons of fun!  So much fun that my 6 and 3 year old said that it wasn’t fair that Nano got to use them.

Innovation, technology, movement and colors. mOmma is a revolutionary line of baby products that encourages baby to discover their surroundings with products that are unique in shape, movement and color, thus transforming each moment of your baby’s mealtime into a moment of growth, learning and pleasure.

We got to try out these cool looking baby feeding tools –

Aren’t those fun?  Here’s my thoughts on them.

I love that they are all BPA & Phthalate FREE!  I also love the shapes, ie:  the glasses.  Not only does the round shape look cool, but it keeps them from falling over.  When you have a little one, they are constantly knocking things over and sometimes even a sippy leaks.

Christiano loves the glasses!  The handles make them easy for him to carry and he totes them all over.  (I know, I shouldn’t let him carry a glass with him every where, but go easy on me.  I have 4 kids, if keeping a sippy with him makes him happy and a little less cranky, I’ll take it!)

He also seems to love the plate.  At least he gets it out of the dishwasher when it’s in there, choosing it over the other plates.  He hands it to me and babbles and points at the fridge.  Translation: Get Me Food!

The silverware, he hasn’t really taken too yet.  We have another set that he prefers, so I probably wouldn’t invest in more sets of these.  It might be that he is a toddler vs a baby and wants to use his ones that look like ours.  They usually get thrown over the high chair tray.

I love the wash brush!  It fits in the glasses perfectly.  I’m sure a regular bottle brush would suffice, but like I said, I like fun things.

All in all, I would definitely purchase more of the glasses and plates.  He loves them.

You can purchase products here on their website or you can purchase them on Amazon, my favorite place to shop online.

Now for the fun!  mOmma is having a messiest moments photo contest!

Little ones can sure make a big mess!  Send us a photo of your tot’s messiest mealtime moment for a chance to win a prize package of mOmma, the beloved line of Italian feeding products for infants and toddlers, for yourself and a friend (total value: $104.50).

I’ve got tons of messy baby pictures!  I’d love to win a set of the mOmma products!

You have until September 2nd to get those pictures in!

If I could enter, I’d enter this one!

Side note:  I realize he’d pulled his arm out of his car seat strap.  He sits there and pulls that buckle down until he can wiggle an arm out.  I had stopped the car to fix it when I had turned around and saw that.  That is when I took the picture.

Side note 2:  Never give your child a dilly bar in the car.

Radius Toothbrush

We recently got to try the Radius Intelligent toothbrush

I gave it to Jordan in the hopes that he would brush his teeth all the time.  He’s at the age where he doesn’t get excited about hygiene.  He actually told me that he wants to let his teeth fall out so he can get those cool fake ones.  *sigh*  When I heard about the Radius Intelligent toothbrush I jumped at the chance for him to give it a try!  I thought it might be easier than sitting on him to brush his teeth myself as I threatened to do at his last dentist appointment.

Here’s a little about it:

    • 2 minute timer — toothbrush beeps once and green light flashes once every 30 sec. to 2 minutes.
    • 90 Day wear meter – after 180 uses the light changes to red to indicate time to check bristle wear. Depressing the button for 5 seconds resets the meter to zero.
    • Lightweight unbreakable replacement heads made from surgical-grade nylon.
    • Dramatically increases softness and efficacy of brushing with 65% more bristle tufts than ordinary toothbrush.
    • Reversible for both Right or Left handed brushing – Available in soft or medium bristles.
    • Handle lasts forever – the head can be discarded as you would a razor blade!
    • KID FRIENDLY! Great for children 6 years and above.

Jordan thinks it’s really cool.  The 2 minute timer made him jump the first time he used it.  That made me giggle a little.  He’s doing a good job with brushing his teeth when he brushes them and uses it for the full two minutes which means his teeth are getting WAY more attention than they used to.

I love the fact that the handle lasts forever and that you just replace the head of the toothbrush.  I also love the 90 day wear meter.  I usually know to replace my tooth brush, oh let’s say when the bristles are pushed out flat.  That’s bad isn’t it?  I’m also kind of jealous.  I want a Radius Intelligent toothbrush for myself.  It’s on my list of things to get.

Did the Radius Intelligent toothbrush miraculously make Jordan want to brush his teeth?  For the first 3 days.  He’s 11, I don’t think he’s going to want to brush his teeth until he wants to kiss a girl – when he’s 30!  But, with coaxing, he goes in and brushes them, and I know his teeth are getting better attention!  That’s a plus!  With the full 2 minute brushing, I’m noticing less build up of yellow on his teeth also.  I know, gross.

I think the price of the toothbrush is great too!  It’s about $7 for the original tooth brush, then around $4.50 for 2 replacement heads.  I spend more than the price of the replacement heads on ONE of our toothbrushes.

All in all, this gets a big

for showing Jordan the proper length of time that is needed for brushing his teeth and for just being an awesome toothbrush at a great value!

I Shall Do Nothing

Posted by Heather Manning On August - 26 - 2010

Nothing at all today!  I am so sick of going, going, going.  It’s been none stop going since last Wednesday when we left for Ohio and I plan on having a nice relaxing day at home with Alyce and Christiano.  I have some normal house cleaning to do, then I’m going to veg and watch The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First Season.  I might watch The Cove or Dread first.  I’ve had them from Netflix for a couple of weeks and haven’t had a chance to watch them yet.

So much for things being calm this morning.  I had to take a break to get the kids ready.  Katiana was wearing her dress I made her.  She said the ric rac inside was itching her.  I cut the little bit that was sticking out, she put it on, it started falling apart.  The tie fell off on one side, there was a hole in the seam here, a hole in the seam there.  I hurried to my sewing machine and fixed it.  I didn’t have time to do the hairstyle I wanted to do for her.  I am holding my breath and hoping the dress doesn’t fall apart at school today.  Now I know what basting is for.  See, you should really follow the instructions when sewing a pattern.  And this is why I’m waiting for my mom to help me make Alyce’s dress.  Well, that and I need to buy pink thread that matches her Betty Boop fabric.

I need to hem up Jordan’s jeans for school too.  We usually pay someone to do it, but Pato said since I have a sewing machine now that works that I can save us money and do it myself.  I hate the ways jeans look when they are hemmed by someone who doesn’t know what they are doing though.  These are the steps I want to follow to keep the original hem.  I’m hoping it works.  I have to hem up about 7 inches on Jordan’s jeans.

Here’s some cute.  Christiano’s vocabulary is expanding every day.  It’s awesome.  I always worried about the girls because they would not say a thing until 2.  Seriously.  Nothing until 2.  Then they took off talking in sentences.  Christiano just had mama, dada, I did it, apple, bird, and book for awhile.

When we were going to Ohio, he picked up Chiapas.  To you that might not be a word.  To us?  Hysterical!  Whenever the kids ask Pato where we are going he says to Chiapas.  And of course, it was said a few times on the way.  All of a sudden from the back seat of the car we hear this little voice say, Chiapa!  Chiapa!  Pato and I started rolling!  Christiano wants to go to Chiapas.

Then there was the night before last when Christiano was getting into stuff and I picked him up and said, you are naughty!  He looked at me and said, nauny?  Yes buddy, you’re naughty.  Nauny nuany nauny.

When I yell for Pato from another room, Christiano joins in – Pato!  Pato!

And when someone says Nano, he says Nano!

If someone asks who wants something, no matter what it is, or whether or not he wants it, Christiano yells out, I do!

When he is leaving me (walking out of a room) he turns and says bye!

And if he wants to nurse, he points to me there and says, boop!  That’s not the most embarrassing thing to have your child do to you when you’re out and about or anything.  He knows he only gets boop before bed or nap.  He tries though.  Boundaries child, boundaries.  Respect my space bubble.  Oh, who is kidding who here?  There are no space bubbles when you are 18 months.

There’s more, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I love it all though!  He’s at the stage where he’s learning something new every day.  To see his eyes light up when he figures it out and that big Christiano smile spread across his face, it does my heart good.

Well, I’m off.  I just thought that I need to get my hair trimmed.  Maybe I’ll do that today.  I’m shaggy and it’s impossible to do my hair right now.  Maybe.  I really just want to relax though.  Taking an 18 month old and a 3 year old to the salon is not my idea of a stress free time.

You know those people who think that stay at home mom’s do nothing and we have all the time in the world?  They’ve never been a stay at home mom.  I swear I feel busier now than I was when I worked full time managing a jewelry store.

Have a great day!
