It’s The Little Things That Make Me Happy

Posted by Heather Manning On July - 18 - 2010

I posted yesterday that we have inspection this week – again.  I’m not thrilled about it.  But, it’s what you do, right?

I was searching Craig’s List, determined that I would find a carpet cleaner.  I’m tired of the rug doctors.  24 hours of using it and your $50 is gone.  Pato had already grumbled that there was no way he was putting out $200 on a new carpet cleaner, so I had to be resourceful and make it worth his while.

I got lucky.

I found this.

hoover

Hoover SteamVac Dual V with SpinScrub Hand Tool

Do you know how much that is new on Amazon?  $251.51

Guess how much I paid for it?

$70!

She said she only used it 2 months before she inherited her parents Kirby.

Insert a huge squuuuueeeeeeeeeel here.

I almost skipped to my lou all the way to the car with my carpet cleaner.

I think it works better than the rug doctor we usually rent.  It took me less time, didn’t hurt my back like the rug doctor does, and with the hand tool, I got out things that I didn’t think were ever going to come out.  I can’t use regular carpet cleaner on my carpets because of the birds.  I used purex in the soap part, water with a bit of white vinegar in the water part, and sprinkled baking soda on the floor before I did it.  I couldn’t believe how well that worked either.  I did the same with the floormate when I scrubbed my kitchen floor the other night, vinegar and baking soda, cleaned better then the cleaners I normally use, and it went faster.  Surprisingly, nothing smelled like decorating easter eggs when I was done, so that was a plus!

I got my bedroom, the hallway, and the living room done.  Today is the kids rooms.

Speaking of the living room, first I cleaned the area rug, THEN my husband picks it up, throws it outside, and said he’s going to go get a new one.  Couldn’t have told me that BEFORE I cleaned it?  I was planning on cleaning the carpet under it, so thank you for moving it at least.

I love me some Craig’s List!  I can clean my carpets whenever I want now.  Don’t have to nag at Pato for a week before inspections that carpets need to be cleaned and to please please please go get me a rug doctor.

Yippie!

I’m telling you, it’s the little things, like clean carpet whenever I want that makes me happy.

I get to reclean the kitchen today.  I had it spotless Friday night.  Then Pato made supper yesterday.  I don’t know what blew up, but the floor needs a good scrubbing today (I’m just a Hoover girl I tell you, because now that I have the carpet cleaner and the Hoover FloorMate there is no excuse for my floors to ever be anything but spotless.  Well, except finding the time with 4 kids to get it done.)

Before the floor needs scrubbed the counters need cleaned, and I just washed the sink FULL of dishes that he left me.  On the plus side, the chicken enchiladas?  Excelente

Off to find more stuff to clean while I wait for the kids to get up and finish their rooms.  Then I’ll get in there and clean their carpets.  Eventually I need to go pick up Woodstock’s cage too.  He’ll be here next SaturdayWoot woot!

I suppose I should clean off my desk again too.  I swear I just did that.

Have a great day!

To the FTC wo/man – I have not been paid or compensated for my post in any way.  Hoover didn’t ask me to do a review, nor did they know I was doing a review, just love my new Hoover SteamVac that I bought all on my own – or my husband did. :)
