After taking in all of that information, I have to tell you that I am nuts about changing my oil on time. Pato and I argue over whether it’s every 3000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes FIRST, or or just when you get to 3000 miles.
So, who wins our argument? I found out it depends on your driving conditions. You should check your owner’s manual. In my case, if I was just driving highway miles, on clear days with no dust, in nice mild temperatures, I could go up to 6000 miles. I unfortunately, live in the suburbs and do a lot of stop and go driving between stop lights. I should still be changing every 3000 miles. I win, I think.
I received a $35 gift certificate to take my car to Jiffy Lube to get my oil changed. I received it after I had already had my oil changed and I haven’t hit 3000 miles yet. I’m getting there, but I haven’t hit it. So, I’m sitting on my gift car still. I’ve had my car serviced at Jiffy Lube before though, and it’s always been a pleasant experience. They get me in and out quickly, clean as can be, and the mechanics are always very nice to me. I’m so close to 3000 miles, after our trip to Omaha tomorrow, I should be able to get my oil changed.
Why do I mention the $35 gift certificate to Jiffy Lube? Because I have one to give to one of you! With the economy being what it is, a little help here and there is always welcome! It’s important to service your car now rather than wait until there’s a problem. I did that once when I was 18. Big old Ford LTD. I knew better, but I never changed the oil. It died on me on the side of the road with what looked like chunky peanut butter in the oil case. Don’t let that happen to you!
