Tetris Party Deluxe has plenty of all-new modes and enhancements to take the classic puzzle fun to a whole new level. With six new game modes, you can enjoy your favorite puzzles with a twist. Set off a line-clearing chain reaction with bombs, complete 20 perfect clears and race against time in Bombliss, Sprint, VS Sprint, Master, Co-op vs. Co-op and All-Clear Sprint. Multiplayer modes offer all-new items to slow down your opponent with Smoke, Time Stop and more. Field Climber, Shadow, Stage Racer and Duel Spaces are enhanced with extra modes, experiences and rules. With more than 20 exciting modes, online battles and multiplayer fun for groups of friends and family, Tetris Party Deluxe is a must-have for Tetris and puzzle fans.

The kids and I got a chance to check out Tetris Party Deluxe for the Wii and for the DS. I have loved Tetris for as long as I can remember and I wondered how the kids would do with it when it wasn’t a Super Mario video game.  The kids have been playing the DS version a lot and really really like it.  They’ve been playing against each other with DS Download.  Jordan actually has quite the unfair advantage being 11 and all.  I hear a lot of Jordan, that’s not fair! when they play together, but Katiana insists on playing with him.

When she gets to play it by herself, these are her thoughts in her own words (she’s 6) –

It’s sort of hard but sort of not.  Sometimes I like to play it.  When I first I first played it, it was really hard, but then I started getting to know how to do it and I like it. Then I loved it.

Now, let’s do Jordan, in his own words. (He’s 11.)

There’s this one mode where you have to get this one stick figure, like a tour guide, and you need to get him to the top by moving the Tetris blocks, and you can’t squish him or it’s over.  That’s one that I like a lot.  But, I also like the original.

And there’s the one where there’s 2 walls and they close in at certain parts and they stop and then you have this one block and you have to get it through the rest of the Tetris blocks with out having it go all the way up to the top.  I love that one.

Wait, mom.  I have one more to tell about.  There’s this one thing where you have Tetris blocks, only one or two blocks of one the Tetris blocks is a bomb and you have to have one explosive block in the line to let it blow up.  Otherwise you have to start all over again.

It’s a really good game and I liked it and I bet if there are any other Tetris games for the DS that this one is the best by far.

Straight from the mouths of babes.

Now my thoughts on the Wii version.  An absolute blast!  I love Tetris!  I always have.  I love to play it by myself, usually I play the classic version of Tetris, but when Pato is home the battle is on!  We play the handicapped version.  In that version the winner of each match gets more and move lines of blocks added to their screen.  Our matches usually last 10-12 minutes, but our record is 16 minutes for just one game.  It’s crazy! and so much fun!  I have dubbed myself Tetris queen.  Pato thinks that’s funny because he usually pulls some trick out of his sleeve and beats me when I get just a tad behind.  Don’t tell him I admitted that!

I love that there is a practice area where you can play with big huge blocks.  It’s slower.  It’s easier for Kat and Alyce to play that version.

I say Tetris Party Deluxe is so much fun for the whole family.  Even Christiano at 16 months likes to hold the wiimote and watch the screen as he pushes buttons and piles the blocks up.  It’s a blast!

**CLOSED** MobiGo Giveaway

Posted by Heather Manning On July - 3 - 2010

Congrats to Jill Myrick!  You won the Mobi Go!  Thank you to everyone who entered!

mobigo

We got to try VTech’s new MobiGo!  Before I go on and on about how much Alyce loves it, let me apologize for not having pictures of her with it.  You see, Christiano loves it too.  Now it must be found again.  I have a sneaking suspicion that it is under their bed, but the girls need to clean their room so I can get to it. :)

VTech MobiGo Touch Learning System gives kids ages 3-7 a portable handheld gaming console system that doubles as an educational learning toy. Touch activated screens are one of the hottest areas of gaming and technology and the VTech MobiGo makes it easy for even the youngest kids to interact with the system featuring a tough sturdy design. Touch, play and learn vocabulary, math, music, phonics and problem solving with characters like Shrek, Dora and Disney Princesses using the touch screen and QWERTY slide-out keyboard. Connect your Vtech MobiGo Touch Learning System with an open internet connection and USB cable to MobiGo for downloadable extras and awards for high scores. Comes with one game cartridge.
The Vtech MobiGo Touch Learning System features:

  • Portable handheld gaming console system that doubles as an educational learning toy
  • Touch screen and QWERTY slide-out keyboard
  • Tough sturdy design
  • Connects to MobiGo for extras and awards
  • Comes with one game cartridge

So, what’s the verdict?  Alyce adores her MobiGo and she is mighty ticked off that she can’t find it right now.  You know how Alyce is my drama princess right?  She’ll get tears thinking about it.  Now it’s only been missing 2 days and I’m sure if they’d get their room cleaned it would magically reappear, but in the mean time, there is only sadness. I suppose I should head in there and try to find it so that I can hear the words, MOM!  You found my MobiGo!  You’re the best mommy ever!

The MobiGo has ended up being easier for her to use than even her other electronic game for children by another company that shall remain unnamed.  She plays both the game that came with her MobiGo and her Toy Story 3 game with ease on the easy level.  Katiana likes to play it on the difficult level, when Alyce will hand it over to someone else.  I have yet to hear, mom! I can’t do it.  Mom!  It’s too hard!  She adores it!  She loves the squirrel game on the cartridge that came with it.  You help this squirrel by drawing lines or circles or other patterns with your finger to create ramps, elevators, teeter totters and more.  It’s a lot of fun.  I actually sat and played it on the difficult level until she was begging for it back.

The MobiGo has quite a few games released for it already.  Fun games with characters kids love!

Along with Toy Story 3, there is:

  • Dora The Explorer
  • Mr Men
  • Shrek 4
  • Nascar
  • Disney’s Fairies
  • Ben 10
  • Super Hero Squad
  • Mickey Mouse Club House

Too much fun!

My rating -

thumbsupfor being a game system that my 3 year old can play with independently from me, giving her more confidence than she has playing the big games.  Plus for having fun games with characters that she loves that help teach her different skills!

You can purchase the MobiGo at ToysRUs!

Some Twinkle The Lovebird Pics

Posted by Heather Manning On July - 3 - 2010

Cuz I haven’t done any in a few days.  I’d hate for you to go through withdrawal or anything like that.  She’s so stinking cute I could just eat her up.  Except when she’s chewing on my fingers and attempting to dismantle my mouse while I’m typing. No matter where I put my fingers on my keyboard she extenze, I mean extends that little neck to bite my quicks by my nails.

July-1

She’s losing her baby black on her beak.  It should be gone completely by 12 weeks.  My little one is growing up.

July-2

She’s got me trained already to remove my rings when she is out of the cage.  She likes to attempt to dislodge the stones.  Here she is saying, ok, if I can’t get your rings, I’ll go for the nose ring.

Please don’t.

That hurt to get in.  I can only imagine what it would feel like if a birdy beak ripped it out.

July-3

When I first got her, she didn’t have hardly any feathers under her wings?  She’s showing off how pretty they have grown in here.

And one last one, just cuz it’s fun.

July-4

Doing helicopter wings.  She doesn’t actually lift off when she does this (though she flies quite well).  She just sits there flapping her wings, which causes her to spin in a circle, which makes me crack my butt up.

You’d think I’d have pictures of my kids today, but no.  Actually, thinking about it, I do.

Christiano eating a noodle when we met Pato for lunch yesterday at a Chinese buffet.

I am saying stop playing with my phone.  My battery is almost dead.

So, what is everyone doing for the 4th?  We are going shopping today to get candy for the kids to throw in the local parade tomorrow.  They are walking with the soccer club.  Actually, we all are.  I’ve even talked Pato into it.  We’re going to deck out the stroller and walk it with Jordan and Kat and my niece, Taylor (and my SIL and brother, though I’m not sure if he knows he’s walking it yet).

Tonight we are probably heading out to my parents.  Tomorrow after the parade we might go over to my aunt’s for a BBQ then off to watch the fireworks.

This is the first year we haven’t made a Missouri fireworks run in a long time.  Unless Pato decides to go today, we will not be annoying my parents neighbors with boom, crack, sizzle tonight. :)   They boom crack sizzle themselves, so it’s all good.

To my fellow Americans –

Everyone stay safe.

Don’t drink and drive.

And have a wonderful 4th of July!
