Chopped All That Hair Off

Posted by Heather Manning On July - 2 - 2010

Oh yes I did.

Here’s the best picture I have of how long the back of my hair was getting.

thehairIhad

It was almost to the middle of my back.

I decided yesterday that I was going to do it.  I was going to go cut it all off.  Part of what nudged me was my cousin Brandi finding out she has breast cancer.   I wanted to donate my hair to Locks of Love.  I do that every couple of years.(Side note, this post would be so much easier to write if Twinkle wasn’t trying to use her beak on my mouse and fingers. :) )

So, I’ve been thinking about cutting it for awhile.  Pretty much since I saw the Eclipse previews because I adored Alice’s hair in them.  I was so nervous it would make my face look fat.  Let’s face it, I’m not exactly as tiny as Ashley Greene is.

I thought I was going to puke when I walked into the salon. If I would have seen some Kohler toilets, or any toilet, I might have made use of it.  That’s how nervous I was.  Pato had already flipped out in the morning, not wanting me to do it.

Lucky for me, my stylist was a Twilight fan too.

Ready?

I don’t think I’ve had hair this short since 6th grade.

No, I’m not stalling.

It’s building anticipation.

Ready?

CIMG0009

I love it!  She kind of adjusted it because of the fact my face is chubbier than Ashley’s.  My hairstylist took a pic to send to Pato because I told her how he was freaking out.  He called me after he got it and said, I like it! It looks better!  Told you so.  No reason to freak out honey. (Coming through the woman who was ready to vomit when she walked in the door.)

Jordan must be given kudos for chasing Christiano around while I was getting my haircut.  First time that Nano wouldn’t sit on my lap while I got my hair done.  Jordan even sacrificed his DSi, handing it to Nano, hoping it would keep him from pulling all the bottles off the wall.

My stylist said all I need now is some caramel colored highlights and it will be perfect.  I think I may have her do it.  I was thinking red in the beginning, but I think she’s right with the caramel ones.  What do you think?

Now I’ve got a bag full of braids in the car to mail in to Locks of Love.

I’m wondering how this will look on days when I’m too lazy to straighten my hair.  You think my hair is curly in the pic above, you should see what it does when there is no weight holding it back.  It gets a little crazy.  I don’t think straightening it will be a problem.  I could probably blow it dry and straighten it in less time than it took me to just blow it dry before.  Even with my new flat iron, it still took a long time to straighten my hair.  Less than the hour and a half it took to straighten it with my old one, but still too much time to do very often.

So, that’s that.  I did it.  I can’t believe it.

Other than that, nothing exciting happened.  Ok, Kat and Alyce both puked in my car on the way home.  Jordan was able to get a Kum & Go glass back to them before it landed anywhere I would have to clean up, thank God!  I think they had to many Skittles at the salon.  They seemed to feel better once we got home.

Christiano is in lovely form too.  Remember back when he had c. diff, it took forever to get it under control?  Same symptoms again, but I think he’s teething this time.  I’m using the acidophilus, and it’s getting better, but still feel bad for the kid.  Butt Paste rocks right now.

Jordan’s healthy.  That’s a plus.  It’s always nice when not every single one of my kids are sick.

Off to get some stuff done while they are still sleeping, though I hear Jordan moving around.

Have a great day!

It looks great! I have been thinking about getting mine cut like thattoo. My hubby says he likes it long so haven’t done it… My hair takes years to grow long too and I kinda like it myself so not sure what I want to do!

  3. You look just great, and it’s for a good cause. Sometimes we need to shake things up anyway, and at least hair grows back if we don’t like the cut! As a matter of fact, I’m having my straggly long hair cut tomorrow!

  5. Oh it looks FABULOUS! I had a very similar hair cut a few years back…so flattering. Now my hair is long again and I”m itching to cut it, but feel I should at least leave it long for the summer. Of course, I can’t donate mine because it’s highlighted ;)

Looks great Heather, I am trying to decide what to do with mine next, it’s definately time for a change, but not sure what I want this time—and it will have to wait until we have the funds to go to the girl I trust, not just someone for a quick trim up.
