Celebrate Dad With Kushies!

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 18 - 2010

fathers day

Just a little heads up!  Kushies is having a sale for Father’s Day!  You will get 15% off all orders between Friday, June 18th and Sunday, June 20th!

I personally love their Boho diaper bag (show in the ad above)!  It looks like it has room for all of my kids’ things and then some left over for me!

Mr[s] FTC [wo]man: I have been entered to win a Kushies Kritter by letting you know about the fab sale, which I would have let you know about without the chance of winning because Kushies has fabulous stuff!

This gets filed under public service announcements right? :)   I thought so!

Tadpoles Bedding Company

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 18 - 2010

We got to try a cute toddler bed set for Christiano from Tadpoles Bedding Company!  It was really really hard to choose. They have tons of cute styles!

Owls Toddler Bedding Set

tadpolesbed-2

Flannel Patchwork 5-piece Bedding Set

and if I had a girl in a toddler bed I would have totally picked this one

tadpolesbed-3

Daisy 4-piece Set

Alas, my girls are in twin bunk beds now, so being the soccer playing family that we are, we chose

tadpolesbed-4

Maisy The Soccer Star (They also have Queen Maisy!)

Maisy Toddler Sets – the 4-pc Maisy Queen bedding set in bright yellow with red accents for little girls and the Maisy Soccer Star in bright blue with red accents for little boys – will add pizzazz to any toddler’s room. The 4-piece sets include a fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillow case, and a warm coverlet filled with 100% polyester. Fits all standard crib and toddler size mattresses.

He loves it!  We unpacked it and made his bed.  He climbed right up and – well, he didn’t actually go to sleep.  He won’t go to sleep in his own bed, but he loves to lay on his pillow and he carries the comforter around the house.  If anyone dares touch his comforter a tug of war will break out.  Nano will scream bloody murder until his comforter is out of the offender’s hands and back in his own where it belongs.

We do lay him in his bed after he finally goes to sleep.

So cute!

It’s held up really well during washing.  No fading, no shrinking, fits on his bed like it was brand new.  I love it!

They have tons of things for the nursery:  Baby Bedding Sets, Toddler Bedding, Organic Bedding, Layettes, and Accessories, and other room decor!  They also have the cutest Moses Baskets!

Is that not gorgeous?  I never had a Moses basket with any of my kids but I wanted one.  They are so neat!

The Necromancer Upcoming Review

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 18 - 2010

book4-coverThe Necromancer (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel) by Michael Scott

We have received a copy of The Necromancer (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel) for Jordan to read (though I plan on reading it too!).  I thought I’d let you know that it is on sale already (on sale for $10.06 for the hardcover on Amazon right now) plus they have The Necromancer: Qwest For The Codex all set up and ready for you to play at!

Necromancer_questCodex2

It looks like a lot of fun!  Just register and start playing!  Jordan is almost done with the book and as soon as he is, I will get his thoughts on it up and posted.  He loves Michael Scott’s books.  He found them in the school library this year and has been devouring them.  He was really excited when the copy of this book came in the mail!

Let me give you the description of the book:

The Necromancer, book four in Michael Scott’s "Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" series, brings the immortal Flamel (The Alchemyst) and teenaged twins, Sophie and Josh, back home to San Francisco, where they meet up with the sorceress Perenelle, Flamel’s wife, who spent the last book escaping from Alcatraz. Time is running out for the Flamels; it’s now been six days since their foe Dr. John Dee (another immortal) ran off with the Codex, the book of Abraham the Mage that keeps them young, and they are aging fast. The twins, who have been learning the Elemental Magics over the course of the first three books, are worried about getting into trouble for basically disappearing for days, so they check in with their guardian, Aunt Agnes. But Scott doesn’t let them settle in for long. True to the break-neck pace of this series, they are quickly pulled back into the action when Sophie is kidnapped by a redheaded vampire who bears an eerie resemblance to one of their recent allies, Scathach, who disappeared with Joan of Arc in the last book. The Necromancer introduces readers to even more infamous immortals, while keeping up with favorites from past books–Machiavelli, Shakespeare, Billy the Kid. As the characters accumulate, so do the opportunities for hair-raising conflicts and insane reveals. Scott manages their multiple story lines with a sequence of cliffhangers that keep it a really fun read even as he is piling on the history and mythology, taking readers further into the secrets that will bring the whole story together. As the characters hurtle toward a conflict that could bring about the end of the world, we can’t wait to see where they’ll go, what they’ll learn, and who they’ll meet next. (Ages 12 and up.)

So there you have it!  You don’t have to wait for me to review it, you can run on over to Amazon and grab The Necromancer (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel) while it is on sale!

Thank You For Yesterday!

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 18 - 2010

After my huge long introduction post yesterday for my SITS ladies, I kind of don’t know what to blog about today.  :)

I do want to thank everyone who stopped by and left a comment.  Holy cow that’s a lot of people to get back to.  I’ve emailed a lot of you a thank you and I’d like to visit each and every one of your blogs and say hi!

As of about 5 PM yesterday, if you told me that you lived in Iowa too, I have you in my blog roll under Iowa bloggers, just because I love having a place where I can find us all at.  I should add my mom to that list.  I’ve got her under family, but she’s an Iowa blogger too.

Speaking of mom, I’ve got an update on her too.  She was scheduled to have her gall bladder taken out yesterday morning.  She called me at about 1:30.  I said, well, you don’t sound drugged up from surgery.  She sounded rather normal.  Turns out she didn’t have the surgery done.

They had run an EKG because her last one was a few months back and there were some discrepancies between the last one and this one.  WHAT?  Mom’s all, don’t worry, it could be nothing.  Don’t worry.  Yeah, easier said then done.  I worry.  It’s what I do.  I worry about my kids. I  worry about my birds.  I worry about my mom.  I do it well.

I’m surprised I don’t have an ulcer from all the worrying I do.

That being said, my hair is coming in almost all gray.

Thank you Nice & Easy.

My mom has to have an ECHO done this morning, I think it’s this morning.  The surgery is rescheduled for June 23.

Well, that was a fun break.  Our sirens started going off and we had to evacuate to the hallway.  Pato was on his way to work and had his radio on, so I turned it on speaker phone, and all of us listened to them tell us we were in the middle of a severe thunderstorm with 70 mph winds and quarter size hail.

First we heard that the siren had been struck by lightening and that’s why they were going off and then we heard that they had set them off because of the wind.  Either way, no tornado.  We’re safe.

Kind of interesting.  My neighbor brought her cat down.  We had grabbed the lovebird.  (I was worrying about my parakeets, but they won’t let me hold them, and they are in a huge flight cage that I can’t carry down there.)  I said, I really hope your cat doesn’t do what comes naturally.  She said he usually just likes to watch birds.  Yes, because he can get to the wild birds outside from his window seat.

Jordan kept Twinkle half covered with a blanket and the cat didn’t even notice him, so it was all good.

My mom called me from Iowa Heart, where they had taken cover in an interior hallway, and gave me the all clear.  so, yes, her ECHO was this morning.

I’ll leave you with a couple of cute pics.  I couldn’t find my camera case last night after the kids picked up, and my Pre doesn’t take the best pictures in dark light, but they are still cute.

readingabook-1

Jordan was trying to read.

readingabook-2

Twinkle took a better seat to hear the story.

Speaking of my phone, I need to stop leaving an unlocked phone in Christiano’s reach.  If I sit it down right after making a call, he grabs it and calls someone – ie: he just called my brother Josh.  If I hold it for a few seconds before sitting it down, it locks on it’s own.  Come on, aren’t phone calls from your 15 month old nephew fun?

Have a great day!

Decadence Ripples

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 18 - 2010

Aunts, anyone who might make me blush mentioning this post to me, find a cute post with pictures of my kids to look at!

Second, this post is about an adult product.  While, it’s not totally a realistic body part (but kind of) adult product, it still is adult product, if you don’t want to read it, please skip this post.  If you have children peering over your shoulder, skip this post.  I don’t want to be responsible for kids saying, mom!  What’s that?  I get enough of that here at home. :)

Still with me?  Ok then, here we go!

It’s that time of the month!  Our Eden Fantasy sex toy of the month in our household.

Since Pato was so thrilled with last month’s product we got to review, we decided we’d continue on with the review program.  Though I blushed a little posting it, I got a few emails supporting my decision.  Sometimes we old married folk with a household of kids need a little fun to spice things up, bring a little fun back.  We’re married, not dead. :)

This month we got to try Decadence Ripples!

decadenceripplesRippling with delight, this fun and flirty vibrator is the perfect discreet toy for those secretive intimate rendezvous whether alone or with a partner. Made with Velvet Touch plastic, this vibrator is incredibly smooth to the touch and extremely skin-friendly, making all the tickling and teasing you’ll be doing completely comfortable and enjoyable. The piece begins with a small rounded-ball head that graduates in size as it reaches the base, each ripple and ridge growing wider and bigger as they approach the end of the shaft. The easy-to-use comfort grip dial controls the powerful multi-speed vibrations and offers great mobility and handling as you play. Fantastic waterproof construction also makes this piece fun in any wet locale and the free plastic carrying case is perfect for travel.

It arrived, as always, in a very discreet box.  My mailman is used to bringing me lots of things and this didn’t raise any eyebrows in it’s plain priority mail box.  I love that part!

I giggled when I pulled it out.  It’s not big.  at all.  You could probably put this in the pocket of your jeans and no one would be the wiser, as long as they were skin tight skinny jeans.  Well, I could.  Cuz I wear oversize shirts most of the time that cover my pockets.  Not that I’d need to carry this in my pocket. :)

Pato turned it on and it didn’t feel too strong.  I actually thought the Legamento’s vibrations were stronger than this when comparing by hand.

Also, this one isn’t very loud either, which again, in a household of 4 kids, is HUGELY important.  I don’t need anyone coming in and asking what that buzzing sound is.

Time came to try it.

No dirty details for you all.

I will say I loved it!  Yes, the vibrations felt lighter than the other one I tried, but that being said, once in place, you have more control over where these vibrations are going, the tip can go certain places that the nubs on the other couldn’t reach as expertly.

In conjunction with um, relations, I was in heaven.  Mind blowing would kind of be a good word to describe it.

I had shaky leg syndrome when it was over

And Pato was patting himself on the back for his expertise.

And I was singing happy happy joy joy.

Of course Pato left me to the task of cleaning it up, as you always should after each time of using your sex toys.  Also, remember to never ever share them.

I’m kind of really happy that we joined in on the adult toys fun after this review!

Totally recommend this one to everyone, not so much as a vibrator for internal use – personally, I think it’s kind of small for that, maybe I’m just spoiled with Pato, but for pin pointing other sensitive spots.  Sky high I was.

Thank you to edenfantasy.com for sending us Decadence Ripples to test drive!  That was too much fun!

See what we’ve enjoyed!
