That little doughboy has come out with something else!

Pillsbury pizza crust!  I was able to try the classic crust and I was excited!  I LOVE making homemade pizza.  I usually use the packets of pizza crust mix, 2 to each pizza.  It makes quite a mess when I make pizza.  Plus, rolling it out can be a pain in the toosh.

I headed off to the store and got some Pillsbury pizza crust.   Came home, made the pizza, and was so happy when it turned out that it tasted better than I want I make our crust with.  Not to thin, not too thick, and so yummy!  I’ll give you my recipe for pizza since I don’t have an interview with my kids.  When making supper, having 4 underfoot in the kitchen doesn’t work out well.  If I could get just one kid to help me at a time that is awesome, unfortunately if one is in there, the other 3 have to be too, right under my feet, and it’s dangerous with the baby around a hot stove.  I only let them help me if there is a process before I start cooking (IE:  Making cookies – getting the dough ready before I start working with the oven.)

1 tube of Pillsbury pizza crust

1/8 cup of butter (margarine, whatever you have, I usually use I can’t believe it’s not butter)

2 teaspoons garlic powder

Presti’s Pizza Seasoning

(That looks like this and it’s awesome!)

PrestisPizzaSeas 3.6

1 lb of Italian sausage

small package of pepperoni

black olives

mushrooms

2 cups of mozzerella cheese

Cook the Italian sausage.  While that’s cooking, get the pizza dough ready and black olives cut up.  When the Italian sausage is done cooking, I throw the black olives and mushrooms in with it for a few minutes.  That is optional, you could just spread it over the pizza without cooking them.

I melt the butter and add the two teaspoons of garlic powder to that.  Brush that mixture over the pizza dough.

Sprinkle a little Presti’s pizza seasoning over it.

Layer the pepperoni on the dough then sprinkle the Italian sausage, olives, and mushrooms over it.

Cover the pizza with mozzarella cheese.

Sprinkle a little more of the Presti’s over the whole thing.

Cook according to pizza dough instructions.

My favorite meal I make.  I also make one with hamburger instead of Italian sausage because a) we need 2 pizzas – I have 4 kids and a husband b) Jordan, Kat, and Alyce claim the Italian sausage is too spicy, though the baby will eat it like it’s going out of style.

I don’t like red tomato sauce on my pizza hence the garlic butter sauce.

That pizza is a huge hit wherever I make, usually at my house or my mom’s.

The plates that came with it went over big with my kids too. They pull them out for everything, not just pizza.

We also go to try Pictureka!

Pillsbury_Pizza_Crusts_Final

We have had a serious blast playing this game.  It’s our new family favorite.  Even Pato gets down on the floor and plays with us.  Nano’s the only one who is too young.  When Alyce plays we let her use the blue cards during her turn.  She can find the picture fairly well.  Sometimes we will tell her what board it is on if she is struggling, but she does really well with this game.  It’s too much fun!

Go over to Hasbro and check out other ideas for Family Game Night!

I have the same Family Pizza Nut package for one reader that I was able to try!  It’s complete with Pictureka, pizza plates, and a coupon for Pillsbury pizza crust!

Last Day Of School!

Posted by Heather Manning On June - 4 - 2010

Part of me wants to say Yippie!

That means I don’t have to set the alarm clock for 3 months.  Well, except for on the 8th.  The kids have a dentist appointment.

The other part of me is dreading the fights.  Kat with Jordan, Kat with Alyce, there’s a pattern here.  Kat fights with everyone.  I think it’s because she’s the middle child.  Well, one of the middle children.  Jordan doesn’t fight with the littlest 2.  I think they are too young yet to drive him up a wall to far.  Every once in awhile Christiano does, like when Jordan is emptying in the dishwasher and Christiano climbs up on the open door to “help”.

I need to find lots of activities to keep them busy so they don’t have time to fight.

I know the Barnes and Noble near me on one side has story time on Friday mornings in June.

The one on the opposite side of me has story time on Tuesday mornings in June and I found a special on a Friday about music and movement.

I need to see what the library activities are this summer for older kids (for Jordan) and younger kids (for the rest of them).  And get them together with their cousins a lot.

In other news, which isn’t really news at all, but it’s all I’ve got today, I got this yesterday and have used it 3 times already and LOVE it!

Black & Decker EHC650 2-Speed Food Chopper with 3-Cup Bowl

My food processor died a while ago, then my blender died after that.  We haven’t had chicken tacos in a long time because I hate shredding chicken by hand.  Probably my least favorite task when it comes to cooking.  Then I got our parakeets and have been chopping up veggies by hand every morning for them.  My parakeets won’t peck at something and pull bites off of it.  If it’s not bird seed size, they throw it to the bottom of the cage.

This little thing is awesome!  When I go to make chicken, I’ll have to shred it one chicken breast at a time because it’s not that big, but it’s perfect for the price. (I paid $19.70 for it.)

I chopped up the parakeets’ fruit last night in it.  It was a tad mushy, but I expected that from frozen strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.  It gets mushy when I chop it up with a knife.

I made Jordan his protein shake in it this morning and no complaints about lumps at all.

Then I went to chop up the birds veggies and woot woot!  I was done in like 10 seconds vs 5 minutes getting them all the right size with a knife.  And the pieces are even smaller than I make normally.  That made me happy.

It’s the little things people, the little things.

Remember the other day when I asked what I should order to review from Cookware.com?  I went with the magic bullet.  I didn’t know that the little one I bought on Amazon would be so awesome for making Jordan’s drinks.    I figure it’ll still be good though because I don’t want to chop up ice in the Black & Decker one.  Jordan has been requesting smoothies for his drink in the morning.  I’ll use the bullet for that.

I finally found a lovebird for us.  I was actually looking for one before I even got our parakeets.  I wanted a hand fed young one that would grow up with us and be pet that you can play with vs a pet that you can watch.  I adore my parakeets, but with 5 of them together they are more of a flock and don’t really want much to do with me.  I’ve gotten 4 of them to eat out of my hand, but Penelope will not do it.  She hangs from the top of the cage staring down to see what the other 4 are eating, but won’t get brave enough to actually venture over to me.

Back to the Lovebird, I have scoured the internet and couldn’t find a lovebird breeder near us.  I didn’t want one from a pet store because those aren’t hand fed.  They aren’t used to people.  They take a lot of work to get them tame enough to handle.

I found one in Omaha though.  I actually found 2.  One for us, one for my sister in law.  They are 5 weeks old right now and hand fed.  Peach faced little lovies.  I don’t know if you’ve seen peach faced lovebirds, a lot of them are green, some are blue, but I would love to have one that looks like this –

It was an older gentleman that I was talking to and he couldn’t understand me clearly over the phone.  I know the ones he has are peach faced, but not sure about the other colors.  I don’t care really.  I think they are all beautiful!  But, that being said, Shelley, if there’s a yellow one, I call it!  :)

They won’t be ready to go for at least 2 weeks.  Then we’ll make the drive to get the little birds.

Pato’s pitching a fit about sending a money order today to hold ours, because we just paid rent, but I told him I’d pay for his calls to Mexico on the cell phone bill instead of making him give me money for it.  He’ll get over it.

Oh in other bird things.  I took this with my phone.  I didn’t want to get my Nikon out because I was worried they’d duck their heads back down into the nest before I came back to take a picture.  And again, I’m not that close to them.  I didn’t want to stress out mama robin.

CIMG0009

Can you see the little baby sticking it’s head out?  So cute!

I need to go take a shower and start cleaning.  Maybe I should reverse that.  Get cleaning and then shower.  It’s so stinking humid here today.

First things first.  Turn on the air conditioning.

Have a great day!
