Actually, it’s just been soccer weekend, but I posted about Kat’s yesterday. Jordan had his game yesterday. He played goalie the whole game and didn’t have to sit out once because we were missing a couple of kids. There were some moments when he had his game on and others where I was left wondering if he wasn’t being timid because he has to wear his glasses full time now. He’s made a big deal out of having to play with his glasses on and he’s not comfortable with yet. Especially as goalie where you have to dive for the ball. He had some really good saves though and I was proud of him as usual.
He told me to stop yelling Jordy from the sidelines and that he knows he has to dive for the ball, I don’t need to yell it. Well, you didn’t until the second half when you switched sides and you could hear me. Thank you very much.
Last year his problem was coming out of the goal too far. The ball would easily get by him because he didn’t have time to scramble back. Yesterday he was in the goal. By the time the ball is to him, it’s in the goal and they have scored. The other issue he was having was when the ball is coming down one side of the field, he was up against the post on that side. He should have had a full back over in that area so he could be in the middle of that side of the goal.
There was one goal that had me going crazy on the sidelines. If he would have dove for it and covered it with his body he would have saved it, but he didn’t, he barely touched it with his fingertips and it went off into the goal. I’m all, JORDAN! DIVE! and the other moms are like he couldn’t have got that. Oh yes he could have. He saved a ton of goals like that one last season.
When he finally got over being timid second half and was diving for the ball he did really well.
On the way home we talked about it and he said that he was mad at himself because he didn’t play his best. I told him that now he knew what he did wrong, he needs to practice and get out there and give it his all. That when he gives it his all, win or lose, I am so proud of him. I didn’t mention that when he’s hanging on the goal post doing absolutely nothing that I’m going insane on the sidelines wanting to go over there and tell him what to do.
He’s got goalie practice tomorrow night. I’m going to talk to the goal coach about the things he needs to work on, what I’m seeing in the games. Hopefully he can help Jordan with those techniques. Though, to be fair if the ball is on the left or right side when it’s coming down, he really needs a fullback (I think they call them defenders now) on that side of the goal post so he can cover more of the goal.
All in all though, it was good to see him out there having fun and doing what he does so well.
Before the game started though, I was worried he wasn’t going to play. They were warming up and I missed what happened to Jordan, but I saw the boys all stop. Jordan had run to save the ball one of his teammates had kicked for a goal and he hit the goal post with his neck. I guess the sound of his neck hitting the goal post stopped all play on our side of the field. He got up, shook it off, and continued on. He was complaining about it hurting this morning though.
Here’s some pics I snapped yesterday. Not a lot of the actual game because Nano was wanting to join the boys on the field. These are also mixed up with pictures I took of the kids playing outside after the game here at home.
Jordan after a save, getting ready to boot it. I don’t know why he’s not wearing his goalie jersey. He put a t-shirt on under his soccer jersey. He said he gets to hot in the goalie one. Nothing like anime on the field.
Alyce after the game at home, shoes on the wrong feet, playing with a tube of carmex our neighbors through off their balcony. Well, their kids did. They throw everything off the balcony. Alyce thought it made a good tool for digging in the mud. Child loves mud. It’s why half my indoor plants are dead. I always catch her digging through the dirt.
Jordan, relaxing for a few when we got home before he started kicking the ball around with Katiana.

Nano saying, what do you mean you don’t want me to eat dirt. Can you see it under his mouth? He was helping Alyce.
Alyce jumping over a trench that somehow was put in our yard this winter. That’s Christiano behind her wondering if he can jump too. For the record, he can’t yet.
I took 30 pictures of Alyce alone in about 5 minutes yesterday. She had a severe case of the sillies. She’s dancing here.
Is it just me or is she not just beautiful. It’s not just a mother’s bias right?
More sillies.
Seriously, she’s just silly.
Jordan and Kat kicking the ball to each other.
Christiano at the game asking me if I seriously think he’s not going to go run on the field and try to get that ball they keep teasing him with.
My other beautiful daughter. You can’t see how long her hair is getting here, but it’s getting so long. Only a couple of more inches to her waist. She loves it. She’s always reaching her hand back and pulling it down saying, mom, look how long my hair is!
Kat trying to entertain Christiano for me.
So that was our day yesterday.
Now, let’s talk sciatic nerve pain. I feel so stupid saying, my butt hurts.
I have never had this pain before. It’s been starting to bother me in the morning for the last week or so, but yesterday I got up and had trouble even getting out of bed. I took 3 ibuprofin and it finally eased up. When we got back from soccer it was twinging, but the kids wanted to play outside so I didn’t bother getting myself some ibuprofin. Just stood out there taking pictures, directing traffic, keeping the baby from chewing on rocks – his favorite pastime.
When we finally came in I was having trouble walking, sitting, moving, coughing, sneezing, all of the above. I still have a few hydrocodone left that the doctor prescribed me that I ration out for when my back is so bad I can’t move. I take 1/2 a pill once every couple of months and ibuprofin and Biofreeze (the best stuff ever invented, that I’m out of *sniff sniff*) the rest of the time . I waited until Pato called me and told me he was almost home and took 1/2 of one hydrocodone. (They make me really really woozy, so I don’t take them unless he is here or very near to here.) It didn’t even touch the pain. But I was feeling about as silly as Alyce was in the pictures. He got home. I took another 1/2. Nothing. My prescription says 1-2 at a time. So, about an hour after I’d taken that second half, I took another 1/2. Finally enough relief that I could stand to lie down.
Got up this morning, tried to move. Seriously, have you ever had a pinched nerve in your neck that hurts so bad you can’t move your head? In my butt. I was rolling this way and that way trying to get up. I just laid there and cried. Pato’s laughing at me just because of the location of my “owie”. Somehow I squished myself to the end of the bed where I half rolled off trying to get up. Just rolling was causing more pain. I got up, came in here, took 3 ibuprofin and slathered my bootie with BenGay. I smell so pretty. But, I can sit on it now. I spent the first 30 minutes of today just standing there because sitting hurt so bad.
Do I need to go to the doctor for this or will it go away on it’s own? I’m hoping for the later because we all know how good I am about taking myself to the doctor.
Have a great day and may you have no toosh pain!
