I am one of the stops on the What’s In The Bible blog tour!

Presenting a 13-DVD series from the creator of VeggieTales, Phil Vischer! Each DVD is filled with original music, animation, puppets, and creative writing that will teach kids about God and his Word.

978-1-4143-3630-5

The first DVD introduces kids to the Bible and the book of beginnings, Genesis. Kids will learn about the key people in Genesis and the important lessons their stories teach us. Approximately 56 minutes.

978-1-4143-3631-2

The second DVD introduces kids to the book of Exodus: the oppression of the Israelites and the birth and rise of God’s chosen leader, Moses. The DVD also answers the question, who wrote the Bible? in a way kids can grasp. Approximately 56 minutes.

What’s In The Bible Website

I adored this!  I am a huge fan of VeggieTales.  I mean, who doesn’t love that Larry the Cucumber, but What’s In The Bible is not VeggieTales.  It’s definitely it’s own series.  And it’s wonderful!  Phil Vischer is a genius when it comes to taking something that is hard for kids to understand (ie: the Old Testament, which can be difficult for an adult at times) and turning it into something that is so much fun.  Something they want to watch over and over again as they learn these important stories.

The puppets,  oh the puppets.  We’ve watched these DVDs probably 10 times since I received them, and I still laugh out loud.  A little fun sarcasm gets me rolling every time.  I think my favorite puppet is Sunday School Lady.  She’s awesome.

I think this series is brilliant and I will be getting each new DVD as it comes out.  There aren’t many series out where I buy each and everyone, but I love the message in this one and I love how they are going to go through each book.

A little about Phil Vischer and Jellyfish Labs

In 1990, 24-year-old computer-animator Phil Vischer sat down to create a group of characters that could teach Christian values to kids in a delightfully different way. A tomato named Bob and a cucumber named Larry were born. VeggieTales would go on to revolutionize Christian filmmaking, selling more than 50 million videos and placing Phil’s faith-filled stories in one in every three American households with young children. Phil continues to pursue innovative new ways to integrate faith and storytelling through his new company, Jellyfish Labs. His projects include Jelly Telly, which provides faith-based daily programming via the internet at JellyTelly.com

I definitely recommend checking this out if you have young ones at home.  Mine are 1, 3, almost 6, and 11 and all of them have enjoyed it.  Even the baby stops to watch for a few minutes as he spins like a tornado through the living room.

I keep getting distracted from my review.  We’re watching it again and I keep stopping to watch it.  I think it’s wonderful for all ages.  One similarity between VeggieTales and What’s In The Bible?  Neither annoy me.  We’ve talked about that in my other reviews.  There is nothing more wonderful than finding a quality DVD with a good message for your children that doesn’t annoy the pants off the parents.

Another thing I really liked about What’s In The Bible is the fact that they don’t just emphasize the “big events” (ie: Johan and the whale).  It goes through so much more than that.  I love the big stories as much as everyone else, but the Bible is so much more than the huge events and it all ties together to give us the whole of God’s message.

Guess what I’ve got for you – besides the giveaway that is?

I love this series. What an awesome idea. The grandbabies want to watch cartoons but I want to make sure their minds are surrounded as much as possible with goodness. This life is hard enough as it is. Thats why we like Veggie tales so much.

Anything that can get a kid’s attention and tuned in to anything in the Bible is excellent. I love the Veggie Tales and think this is going to be even greater than they are.

  9. Brian D. says:

This would be great for our kids or to use in our Sunday school or kindergarten at our private Christian school.

  10. Peter says:

I think that we’re going to like the music the most. Phil seems to have a way of getting good music together with Biblical truths that kids remember. And of course, he’s got a great sense of humor that appeals to adults and kids. (If I remember, he said that they had to remember to throw in stuff for the kids to laugh.)

  11. Josh says:

I like the fact that it’s teaching the kids truths in a fun way.

  12. Amy says:

I like the way it will actually go through the BIBLE for our kids – instead of just picking and choosing topics… WOW!

  13. emily lehmann says:
