Today is the first day of spring break and I am ready for a nap. Got up at 7:30 with the kids. All 4 had to be ready to go out the door by 9 and I had to beat Pato to the shower because he had to get ready for work.
We were out the door by 9 – then I forgot the stroller was in the car which meant there was no room for Jordan. Zipped that to the garage and we were on our way to the eye doctor.
The 3 oldest had appointments. The DR. said that Jordan seems to be taking after me in the eye area. He now needs to wear his glasses all the time, which thrilled him to no end. He hates his glasses. He doesn’t even know where they are. I left the picking out process to him. He got to choose whatever pair he wanted with no pushing one way or another from me (or the sales lady – I had to repeat that a few times. Jordan, you pick the ones YOU want.) I wanted him to get a pair that he would like wearing and I thought if he was the one who made the decision he might be more inclined to put them on his nose in the morning. He’d show them to me, I would say I like those – there wasn’t a pair I didn’t like. He has pretty good taste for an 11 year old boy. He’d set them aside and narrowed it down to 4. Then he tried them all on again. I said, which ones are you? He picked out a cool pair that are fairly conservative in style. They did look really nice on him.
After Jordan was done he took Christiano out to the Thomas the Train table and played with him so I could concentrate on the girls. Kat’s astigmatism hasn’t gotten any worse and she’s still good with no glasses. Alyce was hilarious. She wouldn’t say a thing. The doctor said, at least her eyes are open. I can work with open eyes. I said, some kids don’t open their eyes? She said, lots of kids won’t open their eyes. Reminds me of Alyce at the dentist.
Alyce doesn’t need anything either. She’s a tad farsighted which is normal at her age.
After that we went to Stella’s Blue Sky Diner. It’s been there forever but I’ve never gone. I’ve heard how much fun it is and thought that would be a good kick off of spring break since we have no plans whatsoever for the rest of the week off.
Let me show you how they kick it there:
Cell phone pics sorry! Don’t get a Blackberry Curve if you want good pictures.
That is my son, laying on the floor, with the waiter standing on the bar pouring a – what’s that? A milkshake? Yes pouring a milkshake into the awaiting glass balanced on my son’s face. Then Jordan took the glass off of his face and the waiter poured it right into his mouth.
Katiana didn’t feel comfortable laying on the floor in her skirt, so she just had the milkshake poured on her head.
Alyce gave the waiter a look that said, don’t even think about pouring a milkshake on my head. I promise I’ll cry……hard.

Alyce did join in the hula hooping fun! I had to keep spinning it around her because she doesn’t have the hip wiggle down yet.
Nice facial expression.
Kat hula hooping. She had to have me spin it too because she doesn’t get that there is a totally different technique when you’re hula hooping in real life compared to hula hooping on the Wii balance board.
A blast. I tell you. We had a blast. Jordan said it was the best day of his life because Amazin’ Raisin poured a milkshake on his face. Dude, the waiter’s name was Kevin. You asked him how he was, he said Amazin………raisin. You’re the raisin. Not him. Ok, you can call him Amazin’ Raisin if you want.
ETA – I actually thought while we were there, I want to work here. Forget going back to any of the higher paying careers I’ve thought of pursuing when they kids are all in school. I want to work somewhere fun.
Came home and was totally bummed that the mail man came early. Left me a note that he had 4 parcels for me but I wasn’t here to sign. The one day you decide to come before 3, I’m gone. I’m going up to the post office in a bit. I bet it’s books, but who cares, my stack is getting smaller, I only have 16 books to read and an audio book to listen to. Yikes. Wait, there is 1 book in my bedroom and 1 in the diaper bag, that’s 18. I need to get to reading.
If you have an Old Navy near you, you should check it out. The reason the stroller was in the car yesterday is that Christiano, Alyce, and I went shopping. Nano does not appreciate the fine art of finding a good deal and I swore to Pato I was never.ever.ever.ever taking that child shopping again.
Our Old Navy had clearance like you would not believe. Then it was 50% off of those prices. I had planned on getting clothes for all of us. It’s an income tax refund tradition. I spent $250 and got more clothes than I have ever walked out of Old Navy with. 4 of those big bags STUFFED full. Clothes for all 6 of us. I got a dress that was $30 marked down to $2 after the 50% off. The girls got $2 leggings. That outfit Kat has on? The skirt was $4 and the shirt was like $3.50. Alyce’s dress above is the cutest sweater dress – $4. I got like 10 shirts for Jordan for $1 each and the same shirts for Pato in XL.
I got 3 pairs of jeans that were $8, $9, and $10 respectively. A pair of khakis for $3.48 for Jordan. It was crazy. I got tons more than I can even remember to list.
Oh and I got busted. By Kat. Jordan hasn’t believed in Santa for a couple of years but Katiana does. We put out carrots every year for the reindeer to eat. This year, it snowed over the carrots.
I forgot about it.
Yesterday the kids came to the porch after school instead of the front door. There the carrots are because the snow melted. MOM! The reindeer didn’t eat the carrots!!!!!
What do you expect? They aren’t blood hounds man. It’s not like they can sniff it out under all the snow.
*phew*
Have a great day!
