Project 365 Day 30

Project365-2010-30

I forgot my camera in the car until the end of the meal. And the lighting came out crappy on the pictures of people, so that leaves us with this titled – Nano…….Done.

That was Christiano’s plate.  You really had to see him with all the jello jigglers shoved in his mouth.  He couldn’t get any more in there.

Made it in the nick of time today. 1 hour and 8 minutes left to day 30.

Scattered Post..Like My Brain

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 30 - 2010

Saturday morning. I got to sleep in until 9.  We all roll out of bed and it starts.  Jordan and Alyce lost Kat’s DS.  No one will actually admit who lost it.  No one wants to get up and find it.  Kat is yelling about how she “doesn’t like anybody in this stupid house”.  Alyce is crying because “Kat doesn’t like anyone in this tupid house”. Jordan took off to hide under his covers where he thinks he won’t have to find the missing DS.  Nano is walking around thinking, “I don’t know what everyone else’s problem is.  I woke up in  a good mood.”.  1 out of 4 ain’t so bad.  (I know, ain’t ain’t a word so I ain’t gonna say it……but I did.)

Love it when my mornings start off with 3 children yelling at each other.

Today is Pato’s day off.  I’m trying to think of how I can plan an escape.

Nix that good mood for Nano.  He just toddled over to me and let me know it’s time to nurse, in a not so pleasant way. Someone needs to inform my son that being hung off of and whined at is not my favorite thing to do.  Nursing and blogging.  Rock on!

I just asked Alyce, did you find sissy’s DS?  Not yet.  Have you looked?  Not yet. *sigh*

I’ve noticed that since I started my KettleWorX workouts, Christiano and I walk alike. I did the second workout last night, against my muscles screaming NO NO NO! I felt better once I started getting my thigh muscles stretched out.  This morning I’m back to walking like my 11 month old.  I’m still amazed at how such a short workout can work so well.  It feels good while I’m doing it.  I can’t wait for the day when it feels good AFTER I’m done doing it.  This probably tells you how much I worked out before.  Um, not at all.  I know, Bad Heather.  I need another hot shower.

Jordan is ticked off at the world today.  I don’t blame him.  His dad called last night and said everyone in the house is sick (that consists of his dad, Jordan’s half-brother Nick and his wife plus 3 kids).  Jordan’s dad has it too and thank you very much, I’d rather them not share it with my crew.  Jordan thinks his dad and I are out to ruin his weekend.  Then, yesterday was his best friend’s last day at school.  He’s going on and on about that too.  He did give Fiaz my cell phone number because he can’t remember his, hopefully they will call when they get settled in in Texas.

His guidance counselor started something for Jordan too that his counselor that we saw on Wednesday recommended.  On day 1 every week Jordan will have a buddy lunch with 3-4 boys from his class with the guidance counselor.  Give him a chance to make new friendships.  He is excited about that.

And Katiana came home last night with a Big Brothers/Big Sisters shirt.  Jordan started out in Big Brothers/Big Sisters in kindergarten.  That was before his dad finally stopped drinking.  Jordan was having a lot of issues dealing with the fact that his dad was not picking him up more than 1X every couple of months.  We thought it would be good to give him another adult to look up to.  He had the same mentor through last year.  Then his big brother moved out of state.  We’re still waiting for Jordan to have another Big Brother.  When it was time to sign him up this year, we thought it had been such a good thing for Jordan that we’d sign Katiana up this year.  She’s not high risk at all so I told her counselor that if there were other girls that needed a big sister to place them before Kat.  If there was an extra big sister that I’d love Katiana to participate.  Her guidance counselor agreed.  She said that it doesn’t matter if the kids come from a good situation or a bad, the positive influence of another adult they can look up to and trust is always a good thing.

Look at the stats for school based mentoring

    • 64% developed more positive attitudes toward school
    • 58% achieved higher grades in social studies, languages and math
    • 60% improved relationships with adults and 56% improved relationships with peers
    • 55% were better able to express their feelings
    • 64% developed higher levels of self-confidence.

Three cheers for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. A program near and dear to our hearts.  I think when all of my kids are in school, I may volunteer to help out another child through the program.  Give back for what they have done for Jordan.

I can’t wait until they find him another Big Brother.  Terry was such a wonderful influence on Jordan.  We miss him.  Jordan still talks to him via phone from time to time, but it’s not the same for him.

Boy this post is all over the place today.  That’s kind of how my brain feels this morning.  Scattered and going in a hundred directions at once with things I need to get done.  It doesn’t help that it’s taken me almost 2 hours to write this.  Shouldn’t have slept in if I wanted to blog this morning.  Kids need fed, played with, loved on.  I come back from doing those things and can’t remember where my train of thought was going.

I suppose I should get going and start doing the things that need to be done.
