Anyone else love informercials?

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 27 - 2010

I’ll admit it.  Late at night when I’m up doing giveaways or blogging or nursing a cranky baby, I always turn on the TV to whatever infomercial is on.

And I always want whatever is on.

I don’t care what it is, it could be this Pet Potty Patch and I would come up with a use for it, never mind the fact that I only have a bird.

I’m all, I may not have dogs, but I have a potty training toddler!

I usually am able to look temptation in the eye and say, be gone with you.  There have been some that stay on my mind and I hunt them down and look up reviews to see if they work like they say they do.

What about this?  This looks like it would work.

Doesn’t it?

Honestly, it’s the cooking and cleaning stuff that I drool over.  Steamers, rotisseries, round convection ovens that sit on the counter and get rid of excess grease, juice makers, smoothie makers, choppers that make awesome nachos.  I must have them!  As seen on TV products are to me like candy to kids.

Tell me that you have never wanted bigger hair?  I look at these and think of all the possible hairstyles I could pull off.

Then I see things that would make good gifts for family members and I think I need to research those because if they are a gift, I totally need it to work.  I know my mom has bought bags off of infomercials and loved them.  See, it’s genetic!  Loving the talking man who sells me fun useful stuff is all my mom’s fault.

I have a steamer that I saw on an infomercial but actually bought in the store and it works really well.  I even cleaned our whole microsuede couch with it every couple of months.  Mind you, it took 4 or 5 hours because it was a mini steamer, but it got my couch off-white again.  (The 4-5 hours is why I only cleaned it every other month or so, I have 4 kids.  Can’t keep them off a wet couch for that long.)

So, how are you and informercials?  Love them? Hate them?  Have a fave spokesperson?  I love the guy with all the cooking stuff, Ronco.  I still want his dehydrator.  I bought a rotisserie because of his infomerical. Not his mind you, but still bought one. I love it, hate to clean it.  Maybe I should have bought Ronco’s.  I remember him saying how easy it was to clean.

Oh well, you can’t win them all.

I received a small compensation for posting this. but, as always, it’s my own addiction that inspired the words and it’s all my opinions.

    1) Not a huge infomercial person but I do own a bump-it. I bought it for a Halloween costume and actually liked the way it looked, so I kept it.

    2) Re: your comment. Yikes! That is no fun at ALL!
