Frigidaire and Jennifer Garner are working together to support Save the Children‘s U.S. Programs, dedicated to helping children living in poverty in the United States.  These children need all the help they can get.  The children are our future and if we don’t take care of them who will?

Their Spin & Win game gives you the chance  to win gift cards for spending quality time with your own little kiddos – curling up with some new books, starting a craft project or taking in a family friendly movie (our favorite!).  They’re giving away one prize every day.  Plus, you could also win a brand new Frigidaire Affinity washer and dryer, with time-saving features that give you more time for the important things in life.  (I want one of these so badly, but it would have to sit in our garage, waiting for us to get our new house.  Which we keep saying is going to happen any second now! *sigh* Soon I hope.  My kids are outgrowing our place.)

Aren’t they gorgeous?  I want mine that exact color!

Most importantly, every time someone plays Spin & Win, Frigidaire is going to donate $1 to Save the Children, as part of their $250,000 commitment to support Save the Children’s CHANGE program, dedicated to providing nutritious snacks and promoting healthier lifestyles for children living in poverty in the United States.

It’s a win win no matter how you look at it!  You get a chance to win awesome prizes and Save the Children will win with the generous donation from Frigidaire!

Now go help make time for change!

FTC Info – I was not paid to post information about this giveaway.  I was given a chance to win the Frigidaire Affinity washer and dryer with my blog post.

Do You Ever…

Posted by Heather Manning On January - 18 - 2010

completely monopolize your kids’ game systems until they are crying that it’s not fair that mommy won’t let them play their DS borrow your kids’ game systems to play a game?  I really have been good about this since Jordan got his DS and now that Kat has one.  I used to take over the Gameboys until I beat MegaMan, but not no more.  I’m a responsible mommy who doesn’t make her children cry over their Nintendo DS (DSi in Jordan’s case), well, unless they are grounded, but that so is not my fault.

Let me start this out, this is a review I guess, but I bought the games myself and no one asked me to do it.  This is me and my new addiction. This is just something I had A LOT of fun playing and thought I’d use it as blog fodder because nothing much happened yesterday share..

We went to GameStop yesterday to use the $10 giftcard I won from the ESRB.  I had made a deal with my 2 oldest that if they did something above and beyond their normal chores that they could get $20 in games.  Jordan picked out his normal type of games: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team & Naruto: Ninja Council 3.  Both of those were $9.99.  Jordan is safe because those are 2 games that I would never play, I don’t think. Actually, I’m not sure, never tried – pass me the DS and we’ll see.

Katiana had it narrowed down to National Geographic: Arctic Tale ($5.99) and Petz Wild Animals Dolphinz ($14.99) and I was ready to go because holding my 25 + lb 10 month old son gets to be hard on the back after awhile. I couldn’t put him down as Alyce was already wreaking havoc on the store, “looking” (with her hands) at every game, climbing on the Guitar Hero display and sitting down like a queen on her throne.  Get your butt over here now.  Then Kat saw this game

Cooking Mama

HUH?  You want that game?  Why?  Cuz someone on my bus has it and I got to play it and I really really really like it.  But Kat wouldn’t you rather get the 2 other games?  This one is $20 and you can only get this one game.  Nope!  I want this game.

I went up to the register and said, I have no idea why she wants this game.  He said, Cooking Mama?  That game rocks!  I womp my friend in it all the time on …….. insert whatever game system he said because I forget.  Really?  Alright, it’s what she wants.

We came home and I was good.  I really truly was.  I didn’t even look at it, until Kat said, mom I want you to pass this part.

I said, no, I’ve got to start supper.  She said, just once mom.  Please?

Ok.

It’s her own fault.

What a fun game!  You literally are cooking these dishes and you have to follow the instructions (obviously).  When you do good, she smiles at you.  When you do really good, she smiles and gets these sparkly diamonds in her eyes.  When you screw up, she turns into the devil.  Ok, not really, but she gets these flames shooting out of her eyes and looks like me when my kids have been fighting all night.

I played and played and played until Kat’s DS started complaining that the battery was dying.  So, I took it in the bedroom while I was putting Nano to bed, plugged it in and played some more. I hooked Kat up with a whole bunch of new recipes.  I am so sure she’ll appreciate me getting so far on her game when she gets home from school today.  Mom!  Why’d you do everything????  I can hear her now.

The good thing is it’s easy enough for her to play (she’s 5) and it’s way fun for mama to play too.

There’s a whole bunch of them that we can’t live without would really like to have now –

Cooking Mama 3: Shop & Chop

Cooking Mama: Cook Off

Cooking Mama 2: Dinner With Friends

Cooking Mama World Kitchen

and there’s even Gardening Mama.

I see a Cooking Mama type of birthday for Katiana in April.  That would never be planned for my own advantage.

In other news, for those of you who use Artscow, or if you never have, it’s an awesome company, they have a new coupon code out today!

You get 10 free 20 paged 8X8 books with this coupon code: 1020P8X8BKS.  It expires on 1/25/2010.  So, go to your Artscow account, click on credit and discount, then enter the coupon code.  It’ll save all of those books for you to make when you are ready.  (Note the expiration date of them when you enter it in, usually they expire 1 by one every couple of weeks.)

I’ve had quite a few of those made for myself and I really like how they come out.  It’s what I do with my layouts.  I collect them until I have 20 then have them put into a book.  The only thing I would suggest with them is really watch the edges.  Use their zoom out and in button in their creator to get them aligned just right.  Otherwise you’ll be cutting something off of your page.

I have to also say thank you to the Energizer Bunny’s Mommy Reports.  I won a fashion scarf from her blog this morning.  I’ve never owned a scarf whose sole purpose wasn’t to keep my neck warm during an Iowa winter.  I’m kind of excited!

And the Ricky Martin tweet of the day because I missed a few days –

Rock on and go play some Space Invaders with Ricky!

Have a great day!

Project365-2010-18

I’m into black and white lately if you can’t tell. :)

And this is why I need some relacore.  Iowa winters.  Too cold.  Too snowy.  Too icy.  Can’t get ouside and do anything.  When I try to work out at home, I have kids climbing all over me.  They are “helping” you know.  I’ll just start shoveling the snow for the apartments, that should burn some fat.
