2009 – What The Heck Happened To It?

Posted by Heather Manning On December - 28 - 2009

It has gone by so fast.  I feel like I blinked and missed most of it.  Let’s do a run through of what happened in 2009 for our family.  Surely something happened that will make 2009 memorable for me.  I can think of one off the top of my head but that wasn’t til February, so patience, my dear, patience, we’ll get to February here shortly.

January wasn’t too exciting.  I was really pregnant, waiting for that baby to come and did the Amazing DigiScrap Race again.  That should be coming up here shortly and I’m really glad because I need to scrap and I need a challenge to make me do it right now.

February was kind of exciting for our family!  After being overdue, multiple false alarms,  and trying everything considered safe under God’s great sun to get him out of me naturally (including laying upside down on an ironing board to make him flip, it worked, it really did.), Christiano was born on February 2310 years to the day after his big brother was born.  My sons have the same birthday, yes they do.  As it gets closer I’m fretting on how to do the birthday cake.  How do you decorate for a 1 and 11 year old?

March, hmmm, what happened in March?  Well, we switched to compact fluorescent light bulbs.  Yep, that made the old blog.  Pato was forgetful and Jordan almost broke his toe in too small soccer cleats. Bet that won’t happen this year. And I asked the question every new mom asks – baby blues or exhaustion.

April.  I’m sure April had to be exciting! I had an IUD put in so that we wouldn’t have a number 5 pop up anytime soon.  I flip flopped back and forth or weeks before I decided to go with that or something more permanent. (How did that make my headlines of 2009?  I really really don’t want to have another kid though I adore the 4 I have.)  Soccer season is in full swing in April. I’m a soccer mom to 2 kids who love it! Spring and all I’m on the go constantly.  And Miss Katiana turned 5 years old.

In May, my dad had his rotator cuff surgery.  That laid him up for awhile and I think now is just where he can use it like normal (in Dec). Katiana graduated from preschool. I got a new car, brand new, not new to me, I was so stoked!  and my daughters turned the baby into a pretty princess.

In June, Peter Facinelli and Rob DeFranco had a Twitter bet, Peter won and it made me laugh and someone spilled pop all over my computer.  We got caught in a nasty Iowa thunderstorm.  I got to meet one of my best friends in the world, Kari!  See, June was a little more exciting.

I’m starting to realize that I’m actually pretty boring.  What the heck are you doing here?

July – July was good right?  Um, we celebrated 4th of July.  July was a slow blogging month. Oh yeah, my computer was broke still.  That’s why!

In August, Jordan went into 4th grade and Katiana started kindergarten. I cried.  They didn’t. We went up to Omaha for a family reunion and a trip to the zoo.  We went to the Iowa State Fair like we do every year, but I’m not seeing where I posted pictures.  How sad is that?  I need to explore more.

In September, my Wii broke – we just got it back at the end of November.  Soccer season was in full swing again, and I was still a slow blogger.

In October, the kids went trick or treating at the mall then out by Jordan’s dad’s house the next day, we also went to Living History Farms for their Halloween thing. The kids had their last soccer game, yippie!  My kids started getting the cold weather sickies, and it just keeps going on.

November, let’s see, Black Friday shopping was hell. My children proved they could do flips while supposedly sick and showed why my bed hurts my back everyday.  I won my first giveaway, a ZhuZhu pet.   Kat was really sick – again. It’s the reason I hate Iowa, the cold weather at the end of fall and winter make my kids sick off and on the whole time.  Other than that, I love Iowa.

And in December, what have we done? well, yesterday I entered the Simplify My Life contest or an HP Mini and told you how to win one too.   We had a fun Christmas (after wrapping presents with a baby), but I had a sucky birthday, but part of it was my own fault for having a crappy attitude about turning 35. . Hammie died, but we asked Snowball to fill that empty space in our cage family. We got the snow storm of the decade, the kids actually missed 2 days of school in a row from it.  And Alyce turned 3!

That’s our year.  I’m sure we did more stuff, but you know, having a baby put a crimp in my blogging for awhile.  I kind of took a long break from the computer, popping up here and there.

2010 will be awesome!  I plan on blogging every day, it’s a resolution.  No more falling off the face of the earth.  I hope you all are here to join me as I turn the ordinary things that happen into blog fodder.  They all love me for it!

I hope you had a great 2009!

Maybe next year we can get to Mexico like Pato keeps telling me we need to do.  Skip Ciudad Manuel Doblado and go on a playa del carmen all inclusive vacation. Yeah, that’d be nice.  Ain’t happening, but it’d be nice.  The closest I’ll get to a beach will be Saylorville I’m sure.

Let’s face it, you are going to have to make 2 cakes. For-ever :-)

So I can blog everyday, but it is hard to read and respond everyday, that is my problem. I wish I had the time to read and respond more. Of course, once the lazy days of January appear, hopefully there will be more time!
