Who Started Christmas

This morning I heard a story on the radio of a woman who was out Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable. And after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.
She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year. Overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every housewarming, taste all the holiday food and treats, getting that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, making sure we don’t forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card.

Finally the elevator doors opened and there was already a crowd in the car. She pushed her way into the car and dragged her two kids in with her and all the bags of stuff.

When the doors closed she couldn’t take it anymore and stated, “Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up and shot.”

From the back of the car everyone heard a quiet calm voice respond,

“Don’t worry we already crucified Him.”

For the rest of the trip down the elevator it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

Don’t forget this year to keep the One who started this whole Christmas thing in your every thought, deed, purchase, and word. If we all did it, just think of how different this whole world would be.

Who set the alarm?

Posted by Heather Manning On December - 23 - 2009

Cuz it wasn’t me. I said to Pato last night, I don’t have to set the alarm for 2 weeks!  I was all stoked. Then this morning someone’s internal alarm clock went off at 5:30 AM.  Christiano was crawling all over Pato and I, then onto Alyce who decided to get up. *sigh* So much for sleeping in on the first day of Christmas break.

Got up and came out here with them. Made some coffee. Sat down and went to upload my pictures I took to kick off the new Loreal Bzz Campaign from BzzAgent and my CF card is corrupt.  Another big *sigh* I guess it’s good I figured it out 2 days before Christmas vs taking all of my pictures Christmas morning and having it be corrupt, losing all my Christmas pictures. I still have time to go get a new CF card.  Kinda hard to think much more positively when I went to bed at 1 AM and got up at 5:30 AM.

It’s my own fault for staying up late when I hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before. (Remember Christmas present wrapping with Christiano?)  I got my replacement Kindle (the digital ink went all funky on mine AGAIN Thank God they ship the replacement under warranty out overnight.)  last night and was in the middle of Laurell K Hamilton’s book Blood Noir, book 16 in the Anita Blake series. I didn’t finish it, but I had to make myself turn it off and go to bed.  I have one more book left to read in that series, Skin Trade, and then I have to wait for book 18, Flirt,  to be released in Feb.  How did I miss that she came out with book 8 in the Merry Gentry series? Just saw Divine Misdemeanors on Amazon. It’s on my Kindle wish list now.  I love Laurell K Hamilton, I don’t have to wait years for her new books to come out.  In fact, I get surprised when I miss that one has come out and I haven’t seen it yet.  Maybe I should sign up for her mailing list?

Who are your favorite authors?  Besides Laurell K Hamilton, I *heart* Sherilyn Kenyon (I’m behind on her books now too), Diana GabaldonKaren Marie Moning, Stephenie Meyer, Charlaine Harris, Janet Evanovich, Jennifer Erin Valent, etc etc etc, can’t tell I like urban fantasy books can you? I love a good mystery and romance (especially historical romances) but I really love fantasy. (Not all of the authors listed are fantasy, but most of them are.)

I’ve got The Help by Katherine Stockett on my Kindle ready to read too.  I’ve heard really good things about that book.  I can’t wait to get started on it, but I have to finish my Anita Blake books that I’m reading first.

I have come to the realization that I have a major rajor slight addiction to my Kindle. I need a 12 step program.  When my Kindle broke Sunday night, I felt a little short of breath, my hands felt empty, I panicked thinking what am I supposed to do while nursing?  I know, I could gaze into his eyes, but if he’s going to sleep, I can’t gaze into his eyes.  At 10 months, I still think he’s the most precious thing ever (besides the 3 others), but I’ve done looked at him a lot already while he’s sleeping, I still get the urge to gaze upon his sleeping angel-ness, but at this point, you dual task while nursing most of the time.  What was I supposed to do?  Read a paper book?  EGADS! No, that wouldn’t have been bad if I hadn’t already read on my books here, twice. Since I bought my Kindle, I’ve had no need to buy a paperback.

I was taking a shower yesterday afternoon when Jordan came in and said I signed for the box the UPS man dropped off.

I said, is it my Kindle?  He said, yeah.  I did the naked dance of joy under the shower head.

I think I am going to go back to bed if children will join me.

I’m going to leave you with someone who is way more funny than I am right now.

Barefoot Foodie – Warning do not click that link if you have children behind you or if you like your humor tame because she is not tame at all.  I was laughing so hard reading that post that I just about PIMP.

Tons of giveaways I’ve entered posted on the Giveaway Chick blog.
