It’s my own fault. I think my mom calls it cutting off my nose to spite my face.
I’ll admit it, I was feeling cranky all day. Part of it was I was mad at Sprint. We’re what they have now dubbed white glove customers, I believe it is. Otherwise known as we’ve been with them forever and we pay our bill on time customers. We’re supposed to get a phone upgrade every year instead of waiting for the 2 years for the contract to end. The last few years both of us have gotten a new phone in December. So, imagine Pato’s surprise when they told him that only he could get a new phone this year. Not me. I called. They told me that only the first line on the account is eligible for an upgrade.
Ok, well in that case, it should be my phone. I signed up with Sprint on my own almost 6 years ago. Pato was still with US Cellular. After a month he told me it would be better if we had a family plan together and to sign him up to. Then a couple of months ago, we added Jordan to the plan. I would have been really mad if his phone would have been the main line.
I explained that we have both gotten phones each year, at the same time, together, same phones even.
She was sorry for the misunderstanding. But, no. You can only upgrade one phone. Main line.
Did you say misunderstanding? A misunderstanding is when we miscommunicate, yes. But it is not when you have done something for at least the last 2 years in a row, if not the year before that, because we’ve gotten new phones every year for a few years now. First the crappy free phones that we upgraded to one year, then the Razrs, then the Centros, then the worst mistake of a phone choice I’ve ever made the instinct. At only one point in there we would have hit our contract renewal, so we should have only gotten one phone upgrade.
She really didn’t care, sympathize, empathize, understand that the Palm Pre was the only birthday present I wanted. That I’d been looking forward to it for months. And she wouldn’t fix it. She made my line the main line, but that won’t take effect for 60 flipping days.
So, I got a new dish scrubber for my birthday.
Yep, Pato walked in the night before, handed Alyce a dish scrubber and said, go tell your mom happy birthday.
GRRRRRRRRR
And a new wallet. He got it for the kids to give to me because the front is all doodled and it reminded him of the doodles that I make for my digital scrapbooking stuff. Or for the headers on my blogs.
That was sweet.
But we’ve been planning the Palm Pre.
I had my hopes up.
Sprint – you failed me.
And that made me grumpy.
So when it was time to go out to eat, I was not in a good mood. We were going to the Outback.
Got my make up on. Got all 4 kids ready to go. Got everyone in the car. And the madness started.
This is the whole reason that I don’t take all 4 kids anywhere by myself, on purpose. I thought I was safe, Pato was with me. Who knew he’d be a jerk add to it.
The baby was crying in his car seat. Kat and Jordan were fighting because she couldn’t get her seatbelt on. Which is complete and utter crap. Kat can get her seatbelt on anytime she wants to. Sometimes she doesn’t want to. So she’ll whine and moan and carry on until someone does it for her. Then she takes it off while we’re driving down the road. I’ll literally pull over to the side. No seatbelt, no car moving. She irritates me with that.
Anyways, Jordan and her are fighting, the baby is crying. The noise level is going up. We haven’t even pulled all the way out of the parking lot yet because Pato stopped when I told him Kat didn’t have her seatbelt on.
Pato then proceeded to start yelling at Jordan for fighting with Kat. And I didn’t think that was right. Jordan had his seatbelt on. That’s the first thing he does when he gets in the car. Obviously Pato hasn’t been paying attention to who was the loudest whiniest voice in the car or the fact that his daughter NEVER wants to wear a seatbelt.
I finally yelled turn the car around and take me home. Which is kind of funny because I could have gotten out and walked home. We were in the parking lot still, remember? Everyone looked at me. I said, I’m serious. I am not going anywhere with you people. Turn the car around and take me home.
We did.
No Outback for me.
I had a bagel for my birthday.
Sucks.
To Be Me.
Cut off my nose to spite my face.
Missed my birthday dinner because I was mad.
Of course, I would have been tempting fate to take my kids out in public with the way they were acting in the car and I really don’t want to be one of those parents who gets dirty looks because their kids are being brats misbehaving.
So, that was my day yesterday. No Palm Pre. No Outback. I should have just stayed in bed and taken a nap like I wanted to.
Here’s to today being better.
Have a great day for me!
