Poor ZhuZhu pets

Posted by Heather Manning On December - 7 - 2009

I think every mommy blogger in the world is blogging about this, I’ve seen it on quite a few this morning.

My mom called me yesterday because she knows that Alyce has a ZhuZhu pet.  Mr Squiggles to be exact.  She told me to check out this.  I couldn’t find it of course because she actually sounded like she said it was on goodguy.com which isn’t actually a website.  But, it was linked to another blog this morning, so I found it.

Then I read Night Owl Mama, who is desperately in search of their Mr Squiggles, who might have had suspicion that someone was out to get him, so he took off.  Poor Mr Squiggles.  If you see him, send him back home to Night Owl Mama.  She linked to Cepia LLC’s response to the Good Guide people.  So, who do you believe?  What do I do?  Does our Mr Squiggles go to the place where hamsters go when they are not loved by little children any more?  Or do I believe the company and wait?  Do I put Mr Squiggles on top of the fridge until further testing is done to ensure they are safe?  Because I’d sure like to be on the side of the small business that created them.  I want them to have success over the huge toy giant companies this year.  Prove the little guy can do it!  Poor Mr Squiggles.  If he is safe, I really hope this doesn’t ruin his reputation.

And speaking of Mr Squiggles, why is it just Mr Squiggles?  Are Patches, Chunk, Pip Squeak and Num Nums completely safe while Mr Squiggles is dangerous to children?  How is that possible?  Were they not made the same way?  Out of the same stuff?  Just different colors?  Is it the coloring then that supposedly makes Mr Squiggles unsafe?  Because I would think that under the fur, they’d be identical.  Made the same way.  Did they come up with a completely different strategy when they made Mr Squiggles?

I don’t understand it.  But, I’m not a toy maker.  I don’t pretend to be one.  Maybe Mr Squiggles is a completely different breed of hamster.

While we are on conspiracy theories, because I’m starting to think it’s a conspiracy against Mr Squiggles, maybe started by Barbie and the Bratz because he was stealing their glory this Christmas, I was laughing at a comment that I had awaiting moderation this morning.  I deleted it because it didn’t seem genuine.  There was a link to an article about this same thing, but more inflammatory, less of Cepia’s response, well, actually, none of it.  And the comment was on one of the posts regarding ZhuZhu pets.  They said, “I read this article, then came upon your blog.”  Let’s rephrase that shall we?  I read this article, then went out searching for blogs to post it on.  Please don’t spam me.  Or at least spam me with articles from genuine news sources that are not sensational in nature.  Thanks so much!

Off of the subject of Mr Squiggles who apparently headed up the search party to look for Night Owl Mama’s Mr Squiggles because Alyce said, “Oh, he’s yost.” when asked where Mr Squiggles is.  Maybe he was off looking for some medical equipment and testing supplies to make sure that he is safe?

It snowed last night.  We had our first and only snow of the year in the beginning of October.  Then nothing.  I’m not complaining mind you, I’m just observing the fact that it’s the beginning of December in Iowa and we haven’t had a big snow yet.  Does that mean we’re going to get a doozy tomorrow that will snow us in for a month to make up for letting us have such a nice November/December so far?  The weather forecasters are saying we are going to get a “one two punch”.  I guess the first punch was this pretty fluffy white stuff that is on the ground right now.  I didn’t really think it was a punch, but Pato had trouble driving in it last night, so maybe?  They are expecting blizzard conditions tomorrow though.  We’re supposed to get 6 – 12″ with the heaviest stuff coming tomorrow night.  So a possible snow day on Wednesday?

Poor Jordan is wearing my white boots today.  His are way too small and I wasn’t prepared.  He actually said they look cool.  They are just white moon boots.  I never wear them.  I told him he could have them if he wants them.  Weird kid.  I can’t believe he can wear my shoes now.

On that note, I’m off to take them to school.  It’s too cold to stand out at the bus stop today.  At least with Kat’s hair wet it is.  I need to start giving her showers at night so that her hair is dry in the morning.

Have a great day!

I didn’t know about this! Of course, I’m also extremely glad that my children have yet to discover these crazy things so that I don’t have to try to hunt one down this Christmas.
