I mentioned the kids were sick the other day. I can’t remember if I mentioned that they all gave it to me too. They did. I love how my children choose this type of thing to share.
I took all 4 of them to the walk in yesterday. Kat was starting to improve on the prednisone, but after the last dose, her cough started getting worse again. Jordan is coughing. Alyce is coughing so hard she’s throwing up. Christiano is coughing and choking. And I’m coughing and waking them up after finally getting them all to sleep. *sigh* The Dr said they are all moving air well and there’s not much to do unless it progressed into something else. So, the 2 oldest are on Delsym while Alyce and Christiano get Tylenol and the vaporizer. I started putting Tea Tree Oil in the well of the vaporizer. Lysol gives me asthma attacks when I’m sick, and Tea Tree Oil is good for just about everything, I figured it can’t do any harm since I use it for everything else. (Benefits of Tea Tree Oil, we always keep a few bottles in the house for everything from cuts to ear infections.) Last night was the first time I thought to put it in the vaporizer and Christiano slept better (that doesn’t mean he slept great) than he has in days.
I should share, this is all Jordan’s fault. I caught him on Monday when he came back from school saying to Kat, cough on me so I don’t have to go to school. Dude, I don’t think so. Step away from your sister! Ok, it’s not his fault. ROFL I just know he was hoping he’d get sick. Funny thing is, he hasn’t run a fever, so he hasn’t gotten to miss school.
I am just feeling beat. It’s the mama role man. Even though we’re sick, we can’t stop. We have to keep going and take care of the rest of the sickies. Except for last night, we’ve had to take turns sitting up with Christiano while he slept because he’d get to choking so bad when he was coughing it worried us. So, we kept him semi-upright when he was sleeping and it was better. Pato can sleep sitting up with his head on the wall. Men. I am not able to sleep sitting up holding the baby. That might explain some of the exhaustion.
Our Dr said our trip to Ohio all depends on whether the kids are running temps and coughing like they have been that no, a long trip is not recommended. This is common sense of course, but I needed to be able to tell Pato that is what the Dr said.
I’m waiting on Alyce to wake up from nap to check her diaper. She didn’t have a wet diaper all night the night before. She had one barely wet one yesterday that I changed because it was dirty too. She’s had one barely wet diaper this morning. I told the DR that she hadn’t had a wet diaper yesterday, but that was only at 1:00 PM. If she isn’t wet when she gets up, I’m taking her back in. She’s too little to go too long without wetting. We’ve had to have her pumped full of fluids another time when she was sick and that was horrible. That was only at 13 hours without a wet diaper when they had me bring her in. And I think that was at the beginning of this year.
So, here’s the weigh in from yesterday. Christiano at 9 months weighs 23 1/2 lbs, Alyce weighed 31 lbs, Kat was at 49 lbs, and I’ll just say that really watching what Jordan is eating, and stopping him before he gets something to his mouth has helped. He lost 2 1/2 lbs.
I do have some good news! Have you heard of Coolibah? It’s digital scrapbooking on your iPhone. (I have never had iPhone envy before, but I’m starting to get it.) You’ll now find my stuff in the Coolibah gallery when you are looking at products. There are quite a few samples from me up there and I’m slowly but surely getting my other kits bundled up for people to choose from. Very cool!
On that note, Christiano is hanging off of me, ready for me to put him back to sleep. Have a great day and may the sickies not visit your house ever.
P.S. Giveaway tip – Frugal Mommy to 2 girls is giving away Goldberger’s Mommy’s Baby. I know Alyce loves babies, so I thought I’d share.
Kristen is giving away a sleep number bed! Cool!
